Deputy Annie Huggins bounced into the sheriff’s department fifteen minutes before she was to start. She had called in as on duty as soon as she had left her house. Annie always looked forward to going to work and doing the job she had wanted to do since she was a little girl. They sat and watched the lights continue to move among the trees. Most of the movements were slow and cautious, but occasionally, one would suddenly dart in a direction and jerk to a stop.
