Deep within the vast estate of the Sovereign Syndicate lay a world that very few people knew existed.

The location of the Sovereign's residence was one of the Syndicate's most closely guarded secrets. Only members of the inner circle knew where the Sovereign Lord resided, and even then, knowledge was limited.

Not everyone within the inner circle knew the exact location of the main underground.

Only a select few knew where the hidden entrance was.

Fewer still knew how to reach the deepest section of the underground, where the Sovereign Lord of the Sovereign Syndicate lived and conducted the affairs of his empire from the shadows.

At the heart of that underground lay the Inner Chamber.

It was a room untouched by daylight, silent except for the low hum of digital servers and the steady ticking of a grandfather clock.

Lord Damian stood perfectly straight in the centre of the room, his hands clasped behind his back.

Before him, seated in a high backed chair facing a wall of monitors, was the absolute ruler of the Sovereign Syndicate.

His biological brother.

Malakai Lucian Alistair.

Mafia Boss of the sovereign syndicate.

Damian's expression remained composed as he stood before the only man in the Syndicate whose authority surpassed his own.

"The contract is signed," Damian said, his voice level and devoid of emotion. "Raymond took the gold pen. Within the hour, the funds were cleared at the hospital. Rachel is in surgery as we speak."

The chair slowly rotated, Malakai finally faced him.

He didn't look like a man who had just acquired control over another person's life.

He looked like a grandmaster who had moved a pawn exactly where he wanted it.

A slow, chilling smile spread across his face.

"Perfect," he murmured, his voice low and gravelly.

He leaned back in his chair.

"Exactly as I predicted."

Damian kept his expression neutral.

But his mind returned to Raymond.

The desperation in the man's eyes.

The way he had begged.

The way he had threatened.

The way a proud, once successful man had been reduced to surrendering his own daughter just to save his wife's life.

There was a question Damian had carried with him ever since his brother had handed him Raymond's files weeks ago. He had never asked.

It wasn't his position to question the authority of the sovereign. Within the Sovereign Syndicate, hierarchy was law.Brotherhood came second to obedience.

Still, the calculation behind the trap had been more ruthless than Damian had anticipated.

"You knew he would come," Damian said.

He deliberately phrased it as a statement rather than a question.

Malakai's smile deepened.

"Of course I knew."

He rose from his chair and walked toward the enormous digital display covering one side of the room.

The screen suddenly came alive.

Raymond's financial records appeared.

Business accounts, Debts, Failed transactions and

Bank statements all displayed.

The slow collapse of the Bultman family's fortune.

"I have been watching Raymond from afar for months, Damian."

He moved his hand across the screen.

Another set of files appeared.

"I did not only watched his business crumble."

Another screen.

"I crumbled him myself"

"I ensured certain doors remained closed when he begged his friends for help."

Damian's eyes remained fixed on the display.

Malakai continued.

"I knew exactly when his bank accounts would reach zero."

He paused briefly.

"And I knew when his wife's condition would leave him desperate enough to do anything to save her."

Damian's expression hardened slightly.

The screen changed and a photograph appeared.

It was Melissa. Crystal clear!

Damian's eyes settled on the image.

Malakai stared at it with quiet satisfaction.

"Raymond thought he was turning to an old schoolmate in a moment of random tragedy."

His fingers brushed the edge of the screen.

"He didn't realise he was walking down a corridor I had built for him."

Damian remained silent.

The Supreme Ruler turned toward him.

"I didn't want his money."

His eyes moved back to Melissa's photograph.

"I wanted her."

Silence settled over the Inner Chamber.

Damian stared at the young woman on the screen.

When the orders had first been handed down to demand Melissa as the collateral for Raymond's medical debt Damian had carried them out without question.

He had played the role of the merciless creditor perfectly. And he had pushed Raymond to his knees.

He had given the desperate father no alternative but to sign. But now, seeing the full design behind his brother's plan, Damian understood that the debt had never been the true objective.

The money had been a means.

Rachel's surgery had been the leverage.

Raymond's desperation had been anticipated.

And Melissa had been the target from the beginning.

The weight of the conspiracy settled heavily over the room.

"Raymond made me swear a vow," Damian said quietly.

His brother looked at him.

"He threatened to tear our world apart if she was harmed or forced into the darker sides of our operations."

Damian's gaze remained fixed on Melissa's photograph.

"I promised him she would be an asset."

He paused.

"That she would be protected."

The Sovereign let out a short, humourless laugh.

The sound echoed through the cold chamber.

"Let him threaten the wind, Damian."

His amusement disappeared.

"It changes nothing."

He stepped closer to the screen.

"You did exactly what you were ordered to do, and you did it well."

Damian said nothing.

The Sovereign's gaze remained on Melissa.

"Melissa is ours now."

His voice was calm.

That made the words more frightening.

"She will join the Syndicate. She will learn our ways. She will understand what it means to belong to us."

Damian's jaw tightened.

"And Raymond?"

The Sovereign looked at him.

"Raymond will remain silent."

His eyes hardened.

"His wife's heart beats because we allowed it to."

Damian's expression remained unreadable.

"He believes the contract is the price of her survival."

"Let him believe it."

The sovereign returned his attention to Melissa's photograph.

"Desperate men rarely question the hand that gives them what they need."

Damian remained silent.

The Sovereign turned towards him.

"You are my right hand, Damian."

There was no warmth in his voice now.

Only authority.

"Never forget what that means."

Damian lowered his gaze slightly.

"Your duty is to execute the command."

The sovereign paused.

"Not to wonder why the trap was set."

A beat of silence passed.

"Understood," Damian replied.

He bowed his head slightly.

Then he turned and walked toward the doors.

The heavy doors opened and Damian stepped through.

They closed behind him with a deep metallic sound.

He walked through the underground corridor, his footsteps echoing against the walls.

His face remained composed, but Raymond's broken expression lingered in his mind.

The desperate father had believed he was making a deal to save his wife.

He was wrong.

Damian had played his part perfectly.

ofcourse he knew the tricks, he knows how his elder brother does business.

The contract had never been the end of Raymond's nightmare. It had only opened the door.

Because Melissa Bultman was no longer simply the collateral for a man's debt.

She was now a possession of the Sovereign Syndicate.

  • 730 Days OF Revenge   CHAPTER EIGHT : SILENT PAIN

The living room, once drowned in the suffocating silence of poverty and fear, was alive with voices. For the first time in weeks, the house smelled of something other than sickness. Fresh lilies decorated the room, while the rich aroma of spices drifted from the kitchen, temporarily masking the stale scent that had settled into the walls. Rachel sat upright on the sofa, her frail body supported by a mountain of pillows. She was still pale from the heart surgery, and although the worst of the pain had passed, exhaustion remained etched across her face. Around her sat women dressed in expensive silk wraps and designer clothing. Their designer handbags rested beside their chairs, and their manicured nails glittered beneath the afternoon light as they lifted porcelain teacups and exchanged laughter. Aunty Zain was among them. Her gold bangles chimed against her cup as she laughed loudly, adjusting the colourful headwrap around her head. Looking at her now, no one would have

" SIX MONTHS AGO" The Hospital Bed The steady, clinical beep of the heart monitor was the only sound keeping the silence alive in Room 501. Rachel looked incredibly fragile, swallowed up by the white hospital sheets, her skin pale and translucent under the harsh fluorescent lights. The advanced heart condition was suffocating her, making every breath a visible battle. Raymond sat on the edge of the plastic chair, his head in his hands. His world had completely collapsed. The bankruptcy had stripped them clean; the business was gone, their properties had been auctioned off, and the family members and lifelong friends he had begged for help had all closed their doors when the storm hit. He was entirely alone, staring at a medical bill he couldn't pay for a surgery she couldn't survive without. "Rachel," Raymond whispered, his voice cracking as he leaned closer to her pillow. "I have one option left. There’s someone from my past... a schoolmate. We weren't close, just acqu
