Chapter 1

Divorce

“Get out of my house we are done!” Charles, her husband yelled at her as he threw her things down the stairs.

“No, no.” She said as tears were starting to stream down her eyes.

“Get out you dirty cheater!” He yelled and dragged her forcefully down the stairs.

“I didn't cheat on you Charles, I didn't.” She yelled back and he scoffed.

“You think I didn't see you?”

“I know you did but he is your employee, you sent me to him and now you are accusing me of cheating because we decided to meet at a restaurant? What kind of conclusion is that?” She asked and her husband laughed.

“I don't care. I don't want to hear it, get out.”

“Really Charles? Is it because of her? Is it because of the harlot you want to bring into our home? Do you think I don't know you are seeing someone just because I have been mute about it? What do you think I am? Stupid?” She yelled at him and he suddenly slapped her, Audery fell to the floor and whimpered in pain.

“It's my home and I will do whatever I want. I want you out of this house immediately.” He said and Audrey shook her head, her walking out of that door would bring her shame. She has been warned by her parents and friends two years ago before she walked down the alter that Charles Willams wasn't good for her but she had no choice.

Charles is a CEO and he is rich, her family needed financial support and she knew getting married to him was a way out.

The marriage was going peacefully and well at first but everything changed months later when she couldn't get pregnant and give him a child like he wanted, he started to cheat and hit her at any chance he gets.

He has been looking for ways to kick her out of the house for a while now and Audrey knew he finally found the perfect excuse to do so.

She has been lying to her parents all this while that everything has been going great but truly it wasn't.

“No, no Charles, please. You can't kick me out, I have nowhere to go.” She cried and knelt before him, she held onto his legs and begged for mercy.

“Get out of my house Audrey, this marriage is over.”

“You can't do this to me, we have been together for two years, you can't kick me out now. The world is going to mock me.” She cried and held unto his leg tightly.

“Get out or I will throw you out.”

“No, I am not going anywhere.” She insisted and Charles suddenly pulled her up, he pushed her out of the house ignoring her cries, he threw her luggage at her and closed the door.

Audrey reminded on the floor for minutes as she tried to process what just happened, her husband just kicked her out of the house for a reason he has no proof of.

Where the hell is she going to go? Her parent's house?

No freaking way, they are going to mock her and might not even let her in. Her friend’s place wasn't an option either, she isn't ready to be scolded like a four years old who couldn't make the right decision about something.

After a while, she noticed the neighbors were starting to pay attention to her, she needed to leave the house and probably come back to reconcile with Charles later.

She wiped her tears and stood up with her luggage, she walked down the street and took a taxi, and headed to her parent's house.

She can't sleep on the streets, they can say whatever they want to say to her, and she is ready to hear it, after all, they warned her and she didn't listen.

********

Audrey stood in front of her parent’s house with her bags and took in a deep breath, she slowly knocked on the door and waited for a response.

The door opened seconds later revealing her mother and she faked a smile.

“Hey, mum.” She called and her mother stared at her and her bags.

“Come in baby.” She said with a smile and she walked in, she met her father in the living room reading a book and she cleared her throat.

“Hey, dad.”

“I already knew sooner or later you would come back walking through that door with hour bags and scars on your face and body.” He chuckled without looking at her and she sighed.

“I only came to spend the weekend with you guys.”

“It's Tuesday Audrey, are we that old to you?” Her mother scoffed and she bowed her head.

“Am sorry.” She muttered and her father shook his head.

“If your mother isn't going to tell you the truth, I am. You are our only child and you are nothing different from a gold digger.”

“Honey, don't say that.” Audrey’s mother told him and he stood up.

“You are a disgrace to the family, you married an abusive man just because of money! We get the fact that you were trying to help us but we weren't so desperate, you did this because you were selfish.  A CEO suddenly shows up and you threw yourself at him, you are nothing different from those on the streets who wait to be picked up.”

“This isn't what you should be saying to her right now, you should be comforting her, she has gone through a lot.”

“He is right mum, I deserve it.” Audrey said in tears and her mother hugged her.

“Look at you now, you are back to how you started. You are twenty-two and you haven't achieved anything in your life! Such a pathetic child.” He scoffed and walked away from the living room, Audery burst into tears and cried like a baby, she thought she was prepared for this but she really wasn't. Her father has always been strict with her, at a point she felt he hated her so much but she never knew he was only doing the best for her.

If she had listened to them, maybe she wouldn't be in this mess, she might have gotten a great job or probably have gotten married to another person.

Now, she is getting what she deserves, after all she signed up for it.
