LOGINApproaching the car, Ghea didn’t get in right away. She just stood by the doorway until Daniel subtly nodded his head, signaling for her to come in.
Either intentionally or simply because she didn’t understand Daniel’s cue, Ghea remained standing and instead said she was busy.
"Where should I sign?"
Daniel froze, thinking that Ghea knew exactly what he intended to do. Yes, he had planned to draft an agreement ensuring that the girl would never sue him for anything in the future. After all, he had slept with a public figure who had a massive fanbase in this country. If word got out, Daniel would be crucified by the netizens. Being a Casanova wasn’t an issue for him, but being labeled a rapist was a different story.
"Sir, do you also want to take photos? Can we hurry? I still have a few more scenes to shoot—I’m busy!"
Daniel quickly realized that Ghea didn’t remember him at all.
"That night at the Sky Hotel, you and I—"
Before Daniel could finish his sentence, Ghea had already jumped into the car. She examined the man’s face, and her sharp mind quickly caught on to what Daniel was implying.
"Wait... was it you?" Ghea immediately dropped her formal tone. She was eager to put an end to the uncertainty that had been weighing on her for the past few weeks.
"Thank goodness you seem like a respectable person."
Daniel frowned, his brows furrowing. Why is she even grateful? Don’t tell me—
"I was really worried... What if the person who did this to me was a terrible man? What if he recorded a video and spread it?"
Wait! Is she more concerned about her career than her chastity?
Unbelievable. Money truly blinds people. This is going to be easier to solve than I thought.
"Then, what do you want?" Daniel asked.
"Before I tell you what I want, I need to know why you came to see me."
"Since you already understand the situation, I don’t think I need to explain why, how, or the full chronology of what happened that night," Daniel replied.
"Yeah, and we definitely don’t need a reenactment either."
Daniel stiffened at her words. Reenactment? Is she suggesting we do it again? Whatever. He was convinced now—Ghea was a mercenary woman, easily swayed by money.
"It’s like this, Miss Ghe—"
"Sir, I hope we can just forget about that night. Let’s pretend we never even met," Ghea interrupted, her voice firm.
Daniel was surprised again, but he quickly agreed.
"Alright."
Daniel smirked. This was easier than expected. Ghea was in the same boat as him—she wanted to bury their one-night stand and move on.
"But I need to be certain of one thing," Daniel added, handing her a document with an official stamp. "In the future, if you ever face financial troubles, don’t use this situation to extort me."
Ghea took the document and read it. She nodded and smiled, seeing that the agreement wouldn’t harm her in any way.
"Give me a pen!"
Daniel handed her the pen, his eyes never leaving her as she signed the paper. Then, he signed his part as well. Now, they each had a copy of the signed agreement.
"From now on, we have no reason to see each other again," Daniel stated.
Ghea folded the document and slipped it into the back pocket of her trousers. She nodded. But before stepping out of the car, Daniel handed her a small paper bag containing a box.
"People might get suspicious if you return empty-handed. Just tell them I’m a big fan of yours if anyone asks," Daniel said.
After accepting Daniel’s "gift," he extended his hand for a handshake. Ghea smiled, but when she tried to pull away, he tightened his grip.
"Why?"
At first, Daniel wanted to ask if female celebrities took contraceptives or something similar. However, he decided against it.
"No, I just want to make sure, once again, that our issue is settled."
Ghea nodded in understanding and was about to leave, but suddenly, she leaned in closer to Daniel.
"Oh... I just remembered. Can I ask you something?"
She whispered as if she were about to reveal a top-secret matter.
"You used protection that night, right?"
Daniel froze. If she was asking this, it meant she hadn’t taken any birth control.
"Forget it, I have to get back to filming."
Without saying another word, Ghea stepped out of Daniel’s car. She smiled and even waved at Jim, who had been standing outside the whole time.
_
_ _"Jim."
"Yes, sir?"
"In your opinion, can a woman get pregnant from just one time?"
Daniel gazed out the car window. He had been with many women before, but he had never felt this uneasy.
"It’s possible, but the chances are quite low. If it happens to a married couple, they’d probably see it as a blessing—conceiving a child from just one encounter. But if it happens between two people with no ties, it would definitely be a disaster."
"Jim, why are you so blunt?"
"Apologies, sir. Did I say something wrong?"
"No… It’s just… I’m worried. There’s no way that girl could be pregnant, right?"
Why did I even meet her? I should’ve just let it be. She doesn’t even remember whose face was with her that night. Damn it! What kind of feeling is this?
Pinching Jenny’s arm was the very first thing Ghea did upon reuniting with her. She had finally returned home after spending about four days in Jogja. “Why didn't you tell me, hiding the fact that the one who got you pregnant was Daniel Tyaga!” “Because I didn't want anything to do with him,” Ghea replied, snatching her agenda planner straight out of Jenny’s hand. “You two forced my hand into this. It's like swallowing my own pride. I just sent shockwaves across the entire country by announcing my hiatus from the entertainment world, and now I have to crawl right back. As if everything I said a week ago was nothing but a cheap publicity stunt,” Ghea rattled on. Jenny pursed her lips inward. She knew her artist’s temperament inside out. Ghea despised being indecisive and detested people who couldn't stand by their word. Yet because Jenny had leaked her whereabouts to Daniel, she had no choice left—she had to go through with it and marry the hippo. “Relax! You don't need to
That morning, Pak Asman’s house was bustling with several relatives and neighbors who had come to witness Daniel and Ghea’s formal proposal. To keep the event private, Ghea requested that no active phones be used by her family to take photos. Ghea was genuinely taken aback to see Nova so overjoyed. The woman who had given birth to Daniel instantly shook her father’s hand firmly and wrapped him in a warm embrace. Ghea couldn't help but smile at her future mother-in-law’s enthusiastic demeanor. However, when her eyes met Richie—the man who had so gladly parted with his chocolate monster cake not long ago—Ghea couldn't help but knit her brows. He was entirely different from the Richie she had met that day. The Richie standing before her wore a flat, somber expression, completely devoid of the broad grin from their first encounter. Pushing the thought aside, everyone finally sat down and engaged in warm conversation. Fired up with excitement, Nova suggested that the wedding be hel
Ghea maintained a blank expression as photos of her alongside Daniel circulated once again. The only difference this time was that people were speculating even further that her departure from the entertainment industry was solely to marry him. As they drove back home, neither Daniel nor Ghea said much throughout the journey. Ghea even appeared entirely indifferent to the fact that Daniel’s family was coming to formally propose the very next day. Nor did she care to ask when they would actually hold the wedding. The first thing occupying Ghea’s mind was establishing an agreement—and this time, she had to be the one in control. "I want us to stay out of each other's personal lives after we're married," Ghea finally spoke up. "I want a legally binding document in black and white, along with witnesses. If necessary, let's hire a lawyer we can pay off to keep their mouth shut until our agreement comes to an end." Daniel nodded, cheering silently in his heart. As it turned out, this
"Daniel slept in your room last night, didn't he?" Pak Asman, already seated at the dining table, eyed his daughter suspiciously. Ghea simply nodded and sat down after setting a fresh cup of coffee before him. "He couldn't sleep because of your snoring, Yah. That's why he isn't awake yet." "Nduk, don't we need to prepare anything for tomorrow when Daniel's family comes over?" asked Pak Asman, who had zero experience hosting a formal proposal. "His mother is only coming to propose. You can just invite Bu Dhe and Bu Lek. I'll head into the city today to buy refreshments and souvenirs for them to take home." Pak Asman nodded in understanding, quickly finishing his breakfast before heading out to his batik workshop and showroom. Ghea was busy washing dishes when Daniel finally woke up, immediately asking where her father had gone. "He already left. Go have breakfast and take a shower. I want to take you to pick out some return gifts for your mother tomorrow," Ghea said, shaking th
Ghea, lying on the bed, could only stare at the ceiling without being able to close her eyes. Every now and then, she glanced to the right, wanting to check whether Daniel was already asleep down there. Earlier, the man had gone to sleep in Pak Asman's room. However, her father’s snoring stressed him out; Daniel whined, and for some reason, Ghea felt a little sorry for him. "I can’t sleep without air conditioning." "Good grief! Are you going to sleep in my room? Then where am I supposed to sleep? I don't want to sleep with my dad either!" "Fine, then the two of us will sleep together," Daniel said. "Hey..." Before Ghea could even recover from her shock at his words, Daniel had already walked into Pak Asman's room and reemerged carrying a floor mattress. Blinking rapidly, curiosity got the better of Ghea, and she shifted her body, turning slightly on her side to look at Daniel. The man seemed sound asleep, his eyes shut tight. Just as she was about to turn back, however,
Ghea wore a sour pout as she unlocked her car door rather sluggishly, while Daniel stood smiling, waving toward Pak Asman. “Aren't you coming home with us, Sir?”“Once we close up later, I can head home with the other workers.”Starting the engine, Ghea felt that her father had taken quite a liking to Daniel. Seeing her father’s beaming smile, the girl felt utterly bitter, knowing the cause of it was none other than the hippo.“How much does land go for around here?” Daniel rolled down the car window, taking in the scenery still dominated by lush trees and rice paddies. Her father’s batik workshop was located in a preserved tourism village, situated about four kilometers away from their house.“Why? Are you planning to build a business here? Don't bother! I don’t want outsiders coming in and turning this lovely village into an industrial park. I want my child to run through the rice fields and breathe clean air,” Ghea rambled as she steered the car down the quiet road.“You want your
