Chapter fourteen

Caleb’s POV

"How far?" I pant, doubling over so I can place my hands on my knees to catch my breath.

Daniel sidled up behind my back, too close for comfort so I scooted out of the way so he stood at my side.

"Not far." He replied, not even looking winded a bit.

Daniel and I had formed what I would call an uneasy alliance basically because we both needed each other's help.

We had passed through an underground tunnel that ran beneath the city filled with mold and other ungodly stuff I didn't even want to see.

It took way more time than I had expected for us to crawl past there and several times I had wondered out loud if there wasn't any other way for us to pay but Daniel insisted, saying it was the best way to enter the city undetected.

Their security was tight and no matter how we tried to squeeze in, they would find us.

It took us two days but we finally made it and with my superhuman strength, I broke the flimsy excuse of a barrier so we could exit that awful place.
