“We are here by the order of the Alpha King. We ask your cooperation as we would bring you back to our pack.”
Surprise hit us with his words. The other omegas quickly whispered among themselves, their disbelief mirroring my own. It’s not that we don’t believe him, but the person he was talking about is the ruler of all werewolves, the Alpha of the alphas. Each pack may have its own alphas, but all of them answer to the king.
Someone like him wouldn’t bother with omegas. Why would he save us and even bring us to his pack?
The warrior’s gaze landed on me, as I was the only one looking at him. I quickly lowered my head, not wanting to disrespect a guard from the Alpha King’s pack.
“Are you from Ember Moon pack?” he asked again.
I slowly nodded, curious about what came to be of our pack.
He heaved a sigh. “I’m sorry, but your pack has been wiped out. Aside from you, there were no other survivors. We’ve already checked the whole territory.”
My chest tightened after his words. I wasn’t exactly surprised by what he said, but the confirmation... Simply hurt.
My mom and my pack were all I had, and now they’re gone. I don’t know what would become of me, or if I even have a future.
“You will be taken to the King’s territory,” the warrior continued. “You are now under his protection.”
Protection. I don’t think I could ever feel safe anywhere now.
The warriors rounded us up and guided us towards their vehicle. It differed from the rogue’s rough gestures, but none of us felt any comfort. All of us were grieving for our pack and I should be the same… but something felt wrong with my body. I found myself slipping in and out of consciousness, and I don’t think it was still because of that powder the rogues threw at us.
My body felt strange. I felt hot and feverish. It’s not like I haven’t felt sick before, but this was different. My whole body felt like it was on fire, and my skin felt too tight, but I couldn’t even tell why.
I took deep, ragged breaths, but they didn’t help at all. Panic is already hitting my system.
What’s happening to me?
By the time the vehicle stopped, I could barely keep my eyes open. We were led inside a house. I was sure they were discussing something, but I couldn’t understand anything.
“She’s in heat,” someone murmured.
I don’t even know who said that, but the realization hit me. I’ve never experienced a heat before, even though I’m already way past the age when it should have started. That’s why everyone calls me a freak and useless.
My eyes trembled in fear. Out of all the times, why does it have to be now?!
“You can’t be here,” someone said, and a rough hand suddenly pulled me away from the others.
I tried to protest, but I couldn’t even stand on my own. He held my waist so I wouldn’t stumble, but I’d rather be in that condition than be taken away without my consent.
“W-where are you taking me?” I asked, shaking my head slightly in hopes of straightening my vision, but it didn’t help.
“You can’t be walking around like this,” the man responded, not even answering my question. “But don’t worry. I’ll take good care of you.”
I shuddered in fear after his remark. I recognized that tone. The sick amusement and hunger laced in his voice. I quickly struggled, trying my best to push him away, but my body completely betrayed me.
He chuckled menacingly, “You don’t have to act coy, you know. You’re a filthy omega. It’s not like this is your first time.”
“N-no. Please don’t.” I pleaded but he still laid me on the bed.
“Oh please,” he scoffed, “You’re not the first omega I’ve taken. You’ll ask for more once you’re completely dazed in your heat. I don’t mind a little bit of struggling, though. It’s going to be more fun that way.” He approached me while grinning as he pinned my hands above my head.
I frantically shook my head. Anyone, please help me.
As if on cue, the door suddenly burst open. I felt the man tense up on top of me, eyes wide with sudden fear. Meanwhile, the scent of the newcomer suddenly filled my senses. My vision cleared up, but my mind now couldn’t concentrate on anything else.
The scent was rich and almost intoxicating. My body reacted on its own. Blood rushed in my cheeks, and there was a dull ache between my legs. It was different, but it didn’t feel bad at all.
The man on top of me was suddenly ripped away from me with a sharp force, so violent that my mind almost cleared up. A struggling cry followed, and then complete silence. I tried my best to stay conscious, but my vision started to blur out once again. The intense heat enveloped my whole body as if it were on fire.
Another figure towered over me, but I didn’t feel fear this time. Even in my fevered state, I could hear my wolf desperately informing me that we had found our mate. I took a deep breath and couldn’t stop myself from inhaling his scent.
His eyes glowed in desire after I realized what I was doing, and another wave of surprise hit me.
Golden eyes. Eyes of an Alpha.
“Please help me,” I grabbed his arm, feeling desperate over something I didn’t truly understand. All I wanted was to be close to him.
He reached out for me and caressed my face. “Do not tempt me, my mate.”
It was the last thing I heard before darkness fully succumbed to me.
CLEOMy heart skipped a beat after Theodore’s remark, and a thousand thoughts ran through my mind all at once.I led him inside, still a little skeptical. “Did the king send you? Does he have a message for me?” I asked as we sat on the couch facing each other. His eyes widened in alarm. “Oh, no. It’s not that, Cleo. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. I guess I approached you like I was about to reveal some big secret, didn’t I?” He scratched the back of his head, looking both worried and sheepish. The tension in my chest eased in an instant, though disappointment immediately replaced it. For a moment, I honestly thought Alpha Solan had sent him. I didn’t even know why my mind went there so quickly. Maybe I was just too eager for any sign of him, especially since I hadn’t heard from him for days, or perhaps the constant talk about the pack’s politics had gotten into my head
CLEO“Not bad,” Isabel commented after entering the room I now use as an art studio. My shoulders jolted in surprise, and I almost messed up the painting I had been working on for days. I was too focused that I didn’t even notice her arrival.Isabel’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. I thought you noticed me. I even knocked.”I put down the paintbrush and waved my hands slightly. “It’s alright. It’s on me. I was just too focused, I guess.”“You’re doing well, especially for a beginner,” she inched closer and tilted her head a bit.I chuckled awkwardly, “I’m cooped up in this place. I have lots of time to practice. Hey, at least you didn’t have to scold me for trying to do all the house chores before you.” I joked, trying to shift the topic as I feel a little shy.“I suppose that&
CLEO“Thank you,” I said after the doctor finished with my checkup. She simply smiled and promptly left after gathering her things. “If you feel anything, anything odd at all, do not hesitate to inform Isabel. I’ll be back next week to check back on you, okay?”I nodded, “Yes, I’ll make sure to say if I feel anything out of the ordinary.”The doctor seemed excited when she came in here. Alpha Solan definitely sent her as she already knew what had happened. I guess the pack is really looking forward to the king’s heir. From what I know, Luna Vera has been by Alpha Solan’s side for three years now, but they still failed to conceive.A part of me genuinely feels sorry for Vera. Despite her harsh attitude, she looked genuinely hurt when she saw me with Solan, and she seemed to have really done her best to be his wife and the queen alongside the Alpha King. It&rsqu
CLEOAlpha Solan had already left by morning, promising me that he’d visit me very soon. I wasn’t exactly clinging to it so much, only because I didn’t want to hope so much, only to get hurt in the end.Still, I put on a smile till he left the room. I wanted to see him off, but he said I shouldn’t walk around yet, so I could only say goodbye while in bed.My stream of thoughts was cut when I heard soft knocks from outside. I was already decent, so I quickly let her in, knowing it was Isabel. She entered slowly, checking on me first before coming in carrying a tray of food. My stomach reacted quickly to the smell of the hearty meal.“Thank you,” I said with gratitude and started eating. I’ve never felt this hungry before. I took a spoonful of rice and ate with gusto.“Good Goddess, slow down, Cleo. You might upset your stomach.” She warned me, making me halt and blush.I p
CLEO I woke up with my body aching and heat still pulsing to my core. Alpha Solan hummed to my side, probably sensing that I was already awake. He slowly pulled me close to his embrace, eyes still closed, but still taking care of me.My face flushed, realizing neither of us was wearing anything underneath the sheets. Along with the realization are the memories of the moments we have shared, passionate kisses and touches, words we could only say to one another at stolen times like this.“Do you feel better?” He asked, murmuring on my neck and inhaling my scent.I bit my lip when he started lightly nipping. Of course, it wasn’t enough to initiate the marking, but it was still enough to send shivers down the spine. “I-I feel better now, Alpha. How long did I sleep?” I asked, still a little groggy. I’m pretty sure I haven’t remembered everything, as there were times the heat had been so intense that I lost myself in it. “Three hours, more or less,” He muttered. My eyes widened. I didn’
CLEOTrue to the King’s words, art materials and other things filled the house the next day. Isabel was puzzled as she watched people bring more stuff into the empty room. Her gaze darted at me, holding on to her questions until the people were done placing all the things in the available room, which, apparently, is now the art room slash library, as they have also brought a lot of books and even set up a nice shelf for them. I entered the room after they had set up everything, both amazed and a little overwhelmed. Alpha Solan really took it seriously, and now I don’t know if I should be thankful or worried that I’ll disappoint him. “That’s a lot of stuff. Did you ask all of this of the king?” Isabel asked as she followed me inside. My face tinted red with her question. “Not exactly. He just learned that I was fond of art and said he’d send me something to start with. I didn’t expect he’d send so many things.”“The late Luna is a great artist. I think the king is glad you relate to
