Chapter 63: Helena POV
Finally the orchestra started up. Myself and Alexander were surrounded by a crowd of similarly interest people, all waiting to see if a match would be made tonight. Azalea took the hands of her first partner and I saw a little flicker of emotion cross her face. They gently twirled and I saw her duck her head down shyly at the compliment she was receiving.

The following days was a blur of emotions for Helena as she tried to keep up appearances. Why would an adopted Beta’s daughter attract attention from a huge pack like White Forest? She must be descended from one of their family lines, but in that case why now? I was not expecting a sucker punch, I took a second to comprehend what the hell had happened, coughing on the dust surrounding me, Fyre tore into my thoughts /how dare he hit us like that!/I shake my head and quickly get to my feet, making sure of his distance. Celeste’s mother Runa put the finishing touches to both girls hair and make-up. “Well – time for round two I think." Caleb circled Helena like a hyena, enjoying watching her struggle against Jack. He came very close to approaching her but seeing the rage in her eyes and her legs free to kick at him the thought better of it, for now. Motioning to Jack he growled “Further into the woods, don’t want to be interrupted now do we." As they stumbled onwards, roots and branches causing them all to stumble occasionally Caleb chuckled menacingly. Alle was whooping at their victory, they were going to enjoy this, she would pay for her attitude. As they carried on walking his imagination was firing on all cylinders, but the first thing he was going to do was use Jack’s knife to snip free that halter top and revel in her humiliation. Caleb was so caught up in his plot that he never ever saw the huge cloaked figure appear in front of him. A clawed hand slashed across his face and neck, then hurling him to the ground, choked gurgles erupting from what was left of his throat.

I turned around to try and catch another glimpse but just saw the edge of his cape glide through the trees and out of sight. There was no point trying to chase a phantom. Fyre sighed, frustrated and confused. I had much simpler, immediate needs...a strong drink and a chance to look as normal as possible until the news broke about Caleb and Jack. I headed back into the party making sure to give Alpha Jones and Luna Maeve respectful smiles so they wouldn't view me as absent, headed straight to the glistening long glass bar, now bursting with revellers enjoying the night and muscled my way to the front, purposely being annoying to remain visible to other guests. Leaving the party upon the arm of Bella, surrounded by all these rugged, cloaked men I felt like an Alpha Queen and tried to enjoy the surprise I could feel rippling across the room as we strode out.
