Third person's POV

Alaric panicked as he knelt and looked his mate over frantically. The dazed state of Adrian was terrifying, and the bruise forming on his cheekbone just under his eye looked painful. The bleeding cut split through the middle of the rapidly forming bruise had the Alpha acting like his mate was bleeding out. His heart hammered in his chest as he tenderly wiped the wound with his shirt, completely forgetting that his wolf could heal minor wounds.

“Baby! Talk to me. Are you okay?” Alaric asked as he took his mate's face into his hands.

Adrian's heart clenched when he realized his mate barely saw him. He was looking straight at him, but somehow, all he saw was the wound on his cheek that no longer hurt.

Adrian's head lifted off the ground and further stunned the Alpha by capturing his lips. The Alpha's eyes fluttered closed, and the heavy weight resting on his shoulders disappeared as he melted into the kiss. He finally became aware of his mate's hands touching his fa

Third person's POV Charlie was eager for more, while Victor was thankful the guitar was being unplugged. The Omega frowned when Arthur hopped down from the stage. “Why is he stopping? I want to hear another song!’’ Charlie said, folding his arms. He was tempted to tell the Alpha to get back up there and sing at least two more songs. He's never seen anyone sing like that in real life. Arthur was like a rockstar on stage. His long wavy hair flowed all around him as he moved on the stage, jumping and throwing his head while playing the guitar like he was trying to break it. He didn't know most of the songs but he loved how the music made his limbs move. The Omega almost squealed when he heard the drums begin to play. He had no idea there were any there. They were hidden behind a large black curtain. Moments after the drums began playing, the curtain opened, revealing a large drum set just like the Omega had seen on TV. Charlie squealed as he leaped out of his Alpha's arms and tried cl

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 49 A picnic

Third person's POV The day was exceptionally warm for early spring in Michigan's upper peninsula. There was hardly a cloud in the sky and nearly no wind. When the wind did blow, it was light and surprisingly warm. The sun was set high in the sky, shining down on his light tan skin, which looked like it'd been kissed by the Sun. His eyes sparkled as he grabbed a grape and popped it in his mouth. Skyler intensely watched Weston remove a block from the tower. He covered his eyes when the tower wobbled. When he didn't hear it fall, he peeked through his fingers as his mate successfully placed the wooden block on top. “Haha! Yes! Look at those skills!” Weston said excitedly. Skyler smiled at Weston but frowned when he realized it was his turn. The Jenga tower was taller than ever and became more unstable with each piece moved. Skyler pulled his lip between his teeth as he gently touched each piece, searching for the loosest one. He found one and held his breath as he slowly pushed it t

Third Person's POV “Shit!” Weston cursed as he jumped to his feet, pulling Skyler with him. The Delta turned and took Skyler's face into his hands.“Run as fast as you can, and don't look back! Don't stop until you're in our room.” Weston said, dropping his hands and glancing back at the rapidly approaching threat. He looks back at his terrified Omega, whose eyes are filled with tears. “NOW! RUN!” Weston yelled before turning and shifting in one fluid motion. Knox snarled as he bolted forward, charging the enemies as he pushed against his Alpha's link. He was met with an empty link, reminding him that the Alpha, the Commander, and a good portion of their pack were gone, visiting Arthur's pack for his big party.Weston pushes on the Beta's link, and Joseph quickly opens it.Three hundred feet away, where Skyler stood on the blanket, he was horrified when he watched his mate run toward danger. His feet are rooted in place, unable to move. He wants to obey his mate but doesn't want to

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 51 Merle

Third Person's POV The evening was winding down, and the only packs remaining at Arthur's were Victor's and Alpha Merle's. Merle is a quiet Alpha who sticks to himself. His pack is located at the farthest Northwest end of the peninsula. It's the most rural part of the peninsula, tends to be the coldest, and gets the most snow, making it the least desirable area to build a pack. Because of this, Merle doesn't have much of a threat, especially since no other packs are near him. He has no allies, but not because he was refused. It was rather because he hadn't requested one, and the few people who had reached out to him, he turned down. He doesn't attend any of the events, such as mating ceremonies. The only things he attends are the mandatory Alpha convention and the annual celebration. To say everyone was surprised to see Merle attend Arthur's party would be an understatement. It wasn't mandatory, and he didn’t bring all his unmated members, which would have explained why he was the

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 52 Embarrassment

Third Person's POV Nikolai was relieved that Arthur returned to his normal self once they were in the car. He sat in the center of the backseat, leaned forward, and nearly placed himself in the front seat between Victor and Leo, where he proceeded to talk their ears off, amusing no one but the Omega in Victor's arms.Once they passed the front gate, they rolled their windows down and drove through the territory slowly, trying to pick up the slightest scent of rogues. Thankfully, the air smelled clean of rogues. The only thing they could smell was the residual stench from burning the bodies.Once Leo parked the car, Arthur quickly exited the car, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared to run a lap around the packhouse. “Holy shit! He's fucking fast!” “Nikolai!” Victor scolded. “What?”“I know you're old enough to cuss, but ease up on it in front of me. I'm your father! Show some respect!” Victor said firmly, and Nikolai dropped his head.“I'm sorry, Father!”“Apology accepted! L

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 53 That was you

Skyler's POV I wake up more warm and comfortable than I've ever been. I nuzzle in against the warmth, and I feel something move along my back. That's when I feel it, tingles dancing everywhere. It was like they waited until I was conscious enough to come to life. It's not every day I wake up on top of him. My heart skipped, and my pulse quickened. I feel his chest rising and falling with each breath he takes. I could hear his heart beating as his fingers soothingly caressed my back. My stomach fluttered when I felt him move and kiss my forehead. His finger gently gripped my chin and lifted my head until our eyes met. When they did, my stomach fluttered again. He had a soft smile and hummed as his eyes swept over my face. “Hmmm… Good morning, beautiful,” He said, and I swooned. Beautiful? Me? Those two words don't go together, but somehow he made me feel like they do. His smile widened as he touched my cheek while looking at it. I knew he could see I was blushing, which only cau

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 54 Ice Blue Light

Skylar's POVI watched him cook as he talked to me. I couldn't take my eyes off of him as I sat at the counter. He knows my biggest secret, and he's not going to walk away or spread the word and tell everyone he knows. He's accepting me, even though I'm different…I'm a sucker for his scrambled eggs and cheese, but it's been awhile since I've had a sunny side up egg. Weston placed a plate in front of me as he sat down beside me with his own. I licked my lips when I saw how perfectly seasoned they were with salt and pepper. The toast was perfect! Not too light and not too dark, and the bacon was crispy. It was a perfect breakfast! I licked my lips as I grabbed my toast. Weston laughed when I dove in with my toast and murdered the yolk, wiggling the toast into it until it broke, and then proceeded to soak my toast with all the gooey substance. “Man, that was some determination!” Weston said while laughing. “What?” I asked before shoving the soaked toast into my mouth. “The way you

Third person's POV The Alpha lay with his head propped up, resting on his hand. He smiled in satisfaction and pulled his warm body closer to him. So many thoughts race through Alaric's head as he watches his mate slowly wake up. When Adrian is lying in his arms, his fears and internal battle disappear. The only thing on his mind, is his beautiful Beta, who lies naked beside him, legs tangled, bodies flush together The Alpha's lips tug up when Adrian hums, licks his lips, and begins searching for him with his face. Third Person's POV Alina shared a look with Arthur and giggled when he smirked. “So, lover boy! Where are we off to?”“WE are off to nowhere! I am going for a walk, you two are going somewhere else!” Sean said, and Arthur chuckled.“Ooh, feisty little thing! I like it,” Alina said, and Sean growled in frustration. Alina and Arthur shared a look, and her lips tugged up on the side. She skipped forward and hooked her arm with Sean's. “So, you like Nikolai, huh?” Alina asked, and Sean growled as he yanked his arm away.“That's none of your business!”“Calm down, I'm just making friendly chatter,” Alina said, and Sean rolled his eyes. Alina skipped forward and hooked her arms with Sean's again. He was ready to pull his arm away, but was shocked when the large Viking beast appeared on his right and hooked their arms together. The Beta was now sandwiched between the two. His mouth opened and closed. His head snapped to the left when Alina let go and skipped ahead. Sean slowly turned his

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 67 Can I tell everyone

Third Person's POV “Who are these people, and why did you bring them here?” Nikolai asked, folding his arms over his chest. Arthur didn't know what to say. He couldn't get over the image of seeing Nikolai in another man's arms. It stung. “I…I,” Art exhales, and his shoulder slumps. “It doesn't matter. I shouldn't have come,” Art said, and tried to turn, but his sister wouldn't let him. She grabbed his shoulders and forced him to face Nikolai before gently shoving him forward. “You're not leaving until you talk to him, and that's final!” Alina said, folding her arms over her chest. Nikolai took a step back to put distance between himself and Art. He feared he might crawl into his arms if he allowed him to stay that close. As Nikolai stepped back, he backed into Sean's chest. The Beta placed his hand on Nikolai's shoulder, and both Arthurs raised an eyebrow at him. Sean wasn't afraid of the Arthur in front of Nikolai, but he was afraid of the one standing next to the girl. He was

Third Person's POV His chest hurt unlike anything he had ever felt before. It feels like someone was ripping his heart from his chest. It was hard to keep the tears from falling as he stared down at his sleeping mate. His heart stutters, and he draws a shaky breath in before setting the letter on the nightstand beside him. His lips tremble against his Beta's forehead, and tears fall. “I'm sorry!” He whispered a shaky breath against his skin before stepping onto the balcony and leaping over the edge, disappearing into the night. ~His room lay in ruins. It looked like a tornado had hit his room. Everything lay in pieces around him as he sat on the floor, reading the letter over and over again as tears flowed. He's not sure what he's looking for. Maybe a hidden clue as to why his mate would suddenly do something like this. It doesn't make sense. He thought they were happy and madly in love. Why would he leave? How does he expect him to live without his other half? Adrian balls up th

Third Person's POV Adrian squirms, lightly laughing as Alaric sucks, nips, and kisses at the sensitive flesh of his stomach.Alaric looks into Adrian's beautiful eyes that sparkle with happiness, and his heart clenches. ‘How will I ever be able to do this?’ The Alpha wonders. His eyes close, and he tenderly kisses Adrian's stomach. “I love you more than anything in this world, my Beta,” Alaric whispered against Adrian's stomach. He kept his walls guarded as he trailed kisses up Adrian's body. He didn't stop until his face hovered above Adrian's. He let his eyes sweep over his Beta's face and burned every detail into his mind. “Kiss me, my Alpha,” Adrian said, taking Alaric's face into his hands.Alaric didn't waste another second and gave his Beta what he wanted. • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 64 Arthur

Arthur's POV I couldn't sleep. All I thought of was him. He was my every thought. Whenever I closed my eyes, I saw his handsome face and those beautiful blue eyes. My wolf was driving me insane. He wouldn't stop urging me to go to him. My wolf was urging me, and my own desires became too much, and I just had to see him... I just never anticipated what I would see when I got there. Those lips that were only meant for me pressed against another man's lips right before my eyes, and my heart shattered. My wolf disappeared instantly, but not before I felt how devastated he was. I couldn't move as I watched them kiss. It felt like a hot knife in my chest, and I couldn't swallow the lump in my throat; it was too large. My eyes stung, and tears overflowed. It's been a long time since I've cried. This perfect evening was ruined as I watched their foreheads rest against each other so lovingly. I slowly backed away before turning and running back home. As soon as I entered my territory, Ami

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 63 Emotional

Nikolai's POV I feel movement beside me as I wake up, but I'm still too tired to open my eyes. I become somewhat aware of my surroundings and feel the warmth of a body lying in my arms. I smell cinnamon, and my heart skips a beat. The warm body in my arms snuggles in closer, and I smile—my mind races, and I hum as I wrap my arms tighter around him and begin nuzzling him. My eyebrows knit together when I suddenly feel a vibration and hear a soft purr. I pull my head back, open my eyes, and nearly jump when I look into Milo's eyes instead of Art's like I expected.“Why do you smell like cinnamon?” I asked the Omega with wide eyes. He smiled and blushed, which only confused me further. “I ate a cinnamon roll a few minutes ago,” the Omega said, and that's when I noticed it. This little thing still had a bit of cinnamon and sugar on the corner of his mouth. No wonder that was all I smelled.I chuckled, pulled him into my arms, and kissed his head. “You're adorable,” I said, and he immedi

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 62 Exhausted

Arthur's POV My arm rests against the windowsill as I lean against it, staring outside and watching the rain. The weather was like my mood, dark and gloomy. My wolf pestors me, urging me to go to Nikolai, but I won't. I look up at the sky, and can barely remember what the sky above the Kingdom looked like. I looked down at the grass, remembering how many times the King's guard came close to catching me. I picture my father's face, and I sense my eyes glowing with a ring of gold. I don't force it away like I do when I'm outside of this room. This is my safe room. A spell seals this room and allows me to be who I am without fear of being sensed. I turn away from the window and look at the couch. The couch I've been sleeping on since the day I met Nikolai. I sigh, walk around my desk to the couch on the other side of the room, and drop down onto it. I lay my head back, and just as it touches the couch, my phone rings. I groan before pulling my phone out. As soon as I see the screen

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 61 At His Mercy

Nikolai's POV “Mine!” He growled, with his arms wrapped possessively around me. His nose was pressed against my neck, just under my jaw, and his chest vibrated as he glared daggers at Sean. Sean's initial expression was one of confusion, followed by anger. When he stood, he took several steps forward. I could tell he was ready to lunge at Art, but that last step he took brought him within range of Art’s aura, which was pulsing. Arthur's chest vibrated harder against my body as his menacing growl became louder and more threatening. Sean's eyes widened, and he slowly backed away. The Alpha's body trembled, and his fingers dug into my skin, bruisingly. If I were an Omega, I would probably cry out from the pain, and if this were anyone else, I would have punched them, but Art's grip on me felt good. It took me a moment to realize every place he was touching with his face was a spot Sean had touched. This asshole is trying to get rid of Sean's scent as if he was my mate.Arthur paused w

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 60 A New Day

Arthur's POV My mind won't stop; every thought races through it. His kiss, did I say too much? Where are they and when will they leave? I fucked up… I said too much, and I let it slip again. I’m not sure how much longer I can keep doing this. I'm losing my mind and this battle. I push on my Beta's link, forcing it open, and I hear Lance groan. “Why can you never wait for me to open it?” “Because I'm your Alpha, and I need you,” I snapped.“Yeah, well, I could have been pushing out a turd or jacking off! You could have at least given me a second to stop if I was doing something private!” Lance said, his frustration seeping into the link for me to feel. “Have you heard from Mitchell?” I asked, ignoring his frustration. I don't care what he was doing. I want answers! “No, but I did get a text while I was in the shower. Hang on,” Lance said, and he went silent. It wasn't like a phone where I could hear the sound of movement, or him breathing. His voice was either in my head or it wa
