Silver's POV

“Are you just going to stand there?” He asked, snapping me out of my endless thought cycle.

“I'm sorry, I didn't know you were the alpha. I didn't get the news of your father's death,” I said.

“You had been away for a while but that doesn't mean you should forget our customs. My father can't be declared dead until after eight months,”

“I remember,” I replied.

“I am here concerning the debt my father owed. It's crippling our business and our resource is depleting with every payment,”

He smiled as he listened, reaching for the whiskey by the side of the table.

“None for me please,” I voiced when I noticed he was taking two glasses.

He poured in the two glasses regardless and handed one to me. The intimidating aura made me unable to decline as I received it from him.

“Tell me Silver, how much do you know about your father’s work?” He asked as he took a sip of his drink.

“All of it. His business became part of my soul by the time I was thirteen,” I gave a swift response but judging from the smile on his face, there was more to the question.

“Then tell me why his transport company earns more than the rest of his industries?”

“He works with international customs, pack agencies, pack militaries in shipping assets,” I answered.

“I don't see why all these questions are necessary to my purpose here,”

“It is, princess. Everything is related,"he said.

“That's how he earned from the transport company. That's why it rules over the other companies,”

“No,” He shook his head in denial.

“I'm sorry but your father isn't as pure as you paint him. You are taking over the business, it's time you know,”

“What are you talking about?”

“Your father's transport has a way of passing unique goods through borders without being detected by law and enforcement,” He answered as he tossed a file to me.

I couldn't believe him because I knew my father wouldn't do anything illegal. But I was still terrified to open the document he handed to me.

“You might want to read that,” He muttered before he gulped down his drink. He sat comfortably and watched me sink into confusion.

I opened it and he was right. There was evidence of tampered financial statements to avoid suspicion and photos of signed documents and illegal goods such as silver bullets and weapons.

“He… wouldn't…” I stuttered.

“He did and my father, who was just as greedy, saw an opportunity. Your father was to ship a thousand tonne of rare yellow wolfsbane for a man I know you are familiar with, Khang,”

“Khang?” The file slipped out of my hand.

“The Alpha God, Khang. The head of the Alpha Council,”

“Thesame,” He replied and I gasped heavily. The situation seemed to be even more complex than I thought.

“Your father lost that package and now my family has to pay for it. Hence, your debt,”

“The amount is outrageous. I will need time because my family can't bear to keep paying,” I managed to speak amidst my shock.

“Do you know what happens to Alphas who defy the Alpha God?” Raid asked with a stern voice and a fierce gaze.

“My family will be wiped out from the face of the earth. My father committed suicide and left me with this problem. I never had a choice in the matter,”

“I still need time, Alpha Raid,” I urged with a desperate voice.

“Time is an element that is against us,”

“I understand but there's nothing more to give!” I blurted out of frustration. My tone surprised him as a smile danced on his lips.

“I need to strategize a way out, one that will not cause my family to lose its fortune,”

“You think you can find a way?” He inquired curiously.

“Yes, I know I can,”

“I will make you a deal,” He voiced with his void eyes staring directly into mine.

“I have a package worth two billion. I want you to deliver it to a client,”

“I am not delivering illegal merchandise, I am not my father,”

“Then I can't work with you, Miss Salvatore,” He stated clearly.

“I need to know you are useful to me in the areas I need,”

I was in a tight situation because there was no other way out.

“Where is the client?” I asked.

“You will deliver the goods to Eclipse pack,”

“That's my ex husband’s pack. How do you expect me to get the package in without being noticed,” I reacted.

He stood up from the sofa and walked calmly towards me. One of the buttons from his shirt popped as he walked closer, exposing a scar on his chest.

“Do you have what it takes?” He asked with a soft voice. His warmth breath went thrills through me as it slapped against my face.

“Yes,” I breathed heavily.

“Good,” He backed away slowly, leaving me disoriented.

“Deliver the package in one piece and get your time. Failure to complete the task, you will have no choice but to submit to me,”

“Submit?”

“Every single step you take will be my instruction,” He replied with a tricky smile.

“Those are my terms. Accept or reject, the choice is yours,”

“What choice do I have?”

“The package will be sent to your people. Goodluck princess,” He said with a stunning smile.

__________

“You must be kidding me!” Jericho blurted furiously after listening to my narration.

“Why will you agree to such a deal? It's Raid we are talking about here,”

“I didn't have a choice! It was either that or we would have to pay a billion dollars today,” I responded.

“I took the logical route,”

How sure are you that he will hold his end of the deal? The man is worse than his old man,”

“How are you so certain about him?” I asked.

“Raid disappeared from the face of the earth for over a decade. Infiltrating and destroying enemy packs from the inside, he is a liar Silver. It's what he does,”

“Well this lie will cost him billions of dollars. He won't be gullible to risk it over nothing,” I drew closer to him, sensing how restless he was by the deal.

“To make it better, you can accompany the courier,”

He narrowed his gaze, “ Do you know what's in the package?”

“We don't ask. Apparently that's the rule in the business, we don't ask and we don't check,”

“Okay,” He sighed.

“I will go meet up with the team now. We will move out in an hour,”

I didn't know what awaited us at Eclipse, but it was my family's legacy on the line.

__________

It had been six hours since they went radio silence. I was nervous but I knew the route they took in. They weren't supposed to encounter any trouble but I still felt that something was off.

“You have a visitor,” Lena announced but my gaze was still fixated out the window.

In a second, the intimidating scent filled the air. I immediately knew who it was and by the time I turned, he was standing right behind me with his hand folded behind his back.

“Alpha Raid,” I gasped in shock as I cowered backwards till my back was against the wall.

“I'm sorry I didn't give you a notice about my visit,” He muttered softly, his expression blank like his gaze.

“It's fine. I believe they will be arriving anytime from now,” I said. I took slow breath to calm my nerves but air couldn't go into my lungs. My body quaked as he got even closer, his hand leaning on the wall beside my head.

“I didn't come for the package. I came to see you,"he said.

“Why?” I managed to utter as he drew even closer, his lips brushing mine delicately.

“You intrigue me somehow, triggering a curiosity that I thought never existed,”

“I'm an open book,” I stated.

He backed away slowly, unsatisfied with my response.

“That may be true but there are chapters about you I'm curious to read. Pages I want to open wide,” He voiced in a deep flirtatious drawl that curled around my senses.

“This is purely business,”

“Are you certain, princess?” He asked and almost immediately my phone vibrated in my pocket.

“You might want to get that,” He whispered, his cold stare piercing into my soul.

I took out my phone and it was a call from an unknown number. I was sure of who it was, it could only be Jericho.

“Are you there yet?”

“We were ambushed!” He replied with a heavy tone, panting hard through the call. For the first time, I was outsmarted in a business deal. In shock, I turned to the first person that crossed my mind.

“The package is lost! I repeat the package is lost,”

“Like I said Silver, you intrigue me,” He stated firmly.

“What did you do? Did you sabotage two billion dollars worth of assets just to have me?” I asked, my voice hitching with disbelief.

“I would never do such,” He reacted cluelessly.

“I will see you around, Silver. Hold on to that phone of yours,” He added as he walked out of the room leaving me in utter confusion.

Silver's POV“What the fuck was that?” I blurted the moment we stepped into the mansion. “Who would do that to an old defenseless lady?” “Nah, she ain't old,” Raid said as he walked past me to the bar. “And neither is she defenseless. Whoever gook her had to be strong, powerful to deflect her weird voodoo thingy,” “Khang?” Jericho pried the drink from his hand. “Your family put us in this mess. And now we are standing in the Frontline with you,” “Seriously?” Raid scoffed with a soft laugh. “From what I can tell, the screw up came from your father. He was in charge of delivering whatever the package was and he screwed that up,” “They have started killing,” I fell back on the couch with my thoughts hanging above my head. “ People are dying for our sins, we have to act. Now!” Raid walked towards the the exit without saying a word, leaving me in total disarray. “Where are you going? I just said we need to do something,” “I am doing something, I'm walking out,” he answered calm

Silver's POVI woke up feeling sore, my body aching from every single move I took. “Why do you torture yourself?” Jericho asked. He sat comfortably, watching me try to stand up to my feet. “You are just going to torture yourself, Silver. Sit you ass down,” “Raid?” “Haven't seen him or Algae. They were moved before I woke up,” He replied as he resumed reading his magazine. He wouldn't say but I could sense that he was upset with me. “I'm sorry,” I muttered under my breath. He took a pause and dropped his magazine, looking me in the eyes. “Say something,” “Say what, Silver?” “Anything. This between us right now is awkward,” I retorted sharply. “I'm sorry for putting you in their cross hairs,”“I'm not angry that I got my ass handed to me by a scarred face freak or that I almost got blown up, I'm pissed that you are going to keep meddling in people's shit,” “People's shit? You think I just love meddling in things that don't concern me?” “Oh!I think you do,” he replied. “Putti

Silver's POV“You are supposed to be fighting with us. You scarred bastard!” Jericho groaned with his head pressed against the floor board. “I know you don't support his ways too, Algae. Don't do this,” “You don't know anything, Silver,” he replied. The look on his eyes was almost that of pity but it was fierce regardless. He threw one of Jericho's blades at Triscade who managed to dodge it at the last second. “Get off me!” Jericho growled as he pushed him off. They both quickly got up and made their stances to attack. “You can't beat me on a normal day, what makes you think you can with the full moon,” “You forget, the full moon affects me just as much as it does you,” Jericho replied with a brief smile. “You don't have to do this. You can just leave and tell him that you failed,” “You are backing Triscade up? Never thought you cared,” “I don't!” He grunted before they clashed. Their daggers swung dangerously, going for each other's throat. I could hardly keep up with their

Raid's POV I kept on reading a line in his journal on repeat, trying to decide if it was related to the business they had with Khang. “We need to talk,” Algae walked in, his tone and look expressed his thoughts clearly. “What is all this about? The sudden hunger for revenge and don't give me that bull crap that you are doing it just for her,” “Oh, she's a part of it,” I smiled warmly. I was enjoying how confused he was, it was thrilling. “Do I want to kill the snake? Yes, but I'm not going to be dramatic about it. I knew she would step in to help him,” “I know. That's why I'm asking you why?” “I have bigger fish to save,” I took a pause, allowing the suspense to sink in. “Her father, I need to find a way to talk to her father and it can only happen tonight of the full moon,” “Why don't you just tell her that? You have this compulsion to always make a drama out of the little things,” he snarled. I picked up the address I had written on a paper and the idea

Silver's POV“Elder Thomas, whatever you want, I can't give,” “No, I come again to offer my advice,” He said as he took a seat opposite mine. “I once warned you about the alpha and I can tell that you are already seeing that point of him,” “Where is this narrative heading to?” I inquired curiously. “Normally, you guys come with files or pictures to prove your point. Didn't you come with one this time?” .“Here,” he handed me his phone. I took a look at the photo on it and I was suddenly choked with fear. “Do you know that man? He is one of the biggest boss in the underground world and he was found dead last night,” “Ash,” I gasped, trying really hard to hide the shock that had enveloped my mind. “Why are you bringing this to my notice? The underground business is an empire with constant struggle for power and domination. Any one could have killed him,” “Anyone could have but forensics found alpha toxins behind the claw marks in the victim,” he handed me another file to back up

  • A Blind Gamble    Chapter Twenty Five

Silver's POV I sat beside him the whole night as they stitched him up. Algae brought a very shady doctor to handle the situation and also gave his blood for their treatment. “How long before he wakes?” I asked the doctor as he checked his pulse. “How long?” He burst into a weird laugh that gave me the creeps. I noticed he had the habit of sniffling every few seconds like there was something obstructing his airway. “Err… well they all had the Alpha venom in their blood for quite a while. And beta’s blood isn't really a fix, it's just the connection between the Alpha and the beta that makes the blood work,” “So you are saying it will take time?” “Err!” He laughed again, throwing me into complete disarray. “I'm saying the body needs to find that connection first, identify the Alpha’s link before it starts to heal. So yes, in your term, it will take time,” “Get away from her, creep,” Jericho’s hoarse voice shot from the doorway. “Why does it hurt to speak?” “Your rib punctured y
