SELENE

I turned to leave but then he pulled my hand back and then pulled me closer to him. “Are you avoiding me?” He asked, his voice sending shivers down my spine.

I was so close to him that I couldn’t even breathe properly, this was the first time he would pull me closer to him and I felt something strange.

“How can she not feel me?” Zarek muttered to himself, it was so low.

“Alpha.” Luca said, trying to stop him.

Zarek held me tight and then turned his gaze back to Luca who was standing at the entrance of the kitchen.

“You can see I am busy.” He said, his voice deep and husky, that sentence made Luca step back.

“I said I need to go,” I muttered under my breath, trying to release myself from his grip. His arms were full around my body, like it was folded towels, but he knew better that I don’t want this kind of conversation.

“You always run when I get this close, Luna,” he said, his voice low, with that quiet threat of a smirk in it. His hand slipped around my waist, it was firm,

Zarek strained, muscles bulging, the chains groaning under his effort. Blood dripped from his wounds, pooling at his feet, but his eyes burned with defiance. “You pull that trigger, Uncle, and you’ll regret it. The pack won’t follow a murderer. They’ll hunt you down.”Maximus’s finger tightened on the trigger, his expression a storm of triumph and hate. “Let them try. After today, there’ll be no one left to lead them.”The chamber hung in suspended agony, the air thick with tension. Selene’s breath came in shallow pants, her hand instinctively covering her belly. Leila whispered prayers under her breath, her sobs quieting to a determined resolve. Orion watched, conflicted shadows crossing his face. And Zarek, heart pounding, prepared for the worst, his love for Selene and Leila a shield against the encroaching darkness. But Maximus hesitated, savoring the power. “Any last words, nephew? Before I end your mate and shatter your world?”Zarek’s response was a growl, laced with raw emotio

Orion’s claws dug deep into Zarek’s shoulder, tearing through muscle and sinew with a wet, ripping sound that echoed in the dimly lit chamber. Zarek’s body jerked, a guttural growl escaping his bloodied lips as fresh agony exploded through him. The metallic tang of his own blood filled the air, mingling with the acrid scent of silver burns and sweat-soaked fur. His vision swam, the world narrowing to pinpricks of light amid the haze of pain, but he forced his eyes to focus on Selene and Leila, bound tightly to their chairs across the room. Their restraints were cruel—silver-laced ropes that bit into their skin, leaving angry red welts that smoked faintly. Selene’s belly swelled with their unborn child, a gentle curve that should have been a symbol of hope but now mocked him with its vulnerability. Leila’s pregnancy was further along, her hands instinctively cradling her abdomen even as tears streamed down her face.“Enough games, Orion,” Maximus snarled, his voice a low rumble that cut

The torture intensified. The rogues joined in, their fists and claws a barrage of agony. One slashed at Zarek’s thighs, another twisted his arm until the joint popped. Silver-tipped whips appeared from the shadows, cracking against his back and leaving welts that smoked and blistered. Each lash was a symphony of pain, Zarek’s body arching involuntarily, his wolf howling in silent fury. But through it all, he clung to the bond with Selene, her presence a beacon in the storm. He could feel her heartbreak, her desperate love, urging him to hold on.Selene’s begs turned frantic, her voice hoarse from screaming. “Please! Maximus, Orion—have mercy! Zarek’s given everything for the pack, for all of you! He spared lives when he could, protected the weak. This isn’t justice; it’s vengeance, blind and cruel!” She thrashed against her restraints, ignoring the burn of silver that ate at her flesh. Her eyes, usually so fierce, were flooded with tears, each one a testament to the depth of her love.

Maximus’s chuckle slithered through the dim warehouse like smoke, curling around Zarek’s growl and suffocating it. “Zarek, my son,” he repeated, stepping out from the shadows with a predatory grace that belied his age. His silver-streaked hair caught the flickering light, and his eyes—cold, calculating amber—gleamed with a satisfaction that had been brewing for decades. He wore a tailored suit, pristine amid the grime, as if this betrayal was just another boardroom conquest.“Do not call me your son,” Zarek snarled again, his voice a thunderclap of fury. His muscles coiled like springs, ready to launch, but the rogues flanking Maximus shifted, their eyes glowing with feral loyalty. Zarek’s wolf paced restlessly inside him, claws scraping against his restraint. He could smell the fear rolling off Selene and Leila in waves, mingling with the metallic bite of silver and the stale rot of the warehouse. Every instinct screamed to protect them, to tear through the barriers, but one wrong mo

Zarek’s tires screeched as he skidded to a halt outside the decrepit warehouse on the outskirts of the city, the address on the parchment etched into his mind like a brand. The building loomed like a forgotten tomb, its rusted walls cloaked in shadows, the air thick with the metallic tang of blood and the acrid bite of fear. His wolf snarled within him, senses sharpening to a razor’s edge—Selene’s scent was here, faint but unmistakable, laced with pain and desperation. And beneath it, another familiar thread: Leila’s.His sister.Zarek kicked the door open, his boots crunching over shattered glass as he stormed inside. The cavernous space was dimly lit by flickering overhead bulbs, casting long, grotesque shadows across the concrete floor. Chains rattled softly in the draft, and there, in the center of the room, hung the heart of his nightmare.Selene was bound to a rusted pillar, her wrists raw from the silver-laced ropes that burned her skin, her silver hair matted with sweat and gr

The phone in Zarek’s hand vibrated again, sharp and relentless. He answered without hesitation, his voice already a growl.“Who is this?”Maximus’s laughter slithered through the line, low and venomous. “Haven’t you decided yet, my son? Your Luna or your crown?”Zarek’s jaw tightened, rage clawing his insides. His wolf paced furiously beneath his skin.“Do not hurt Selene,” he warned, his tone edged with steel.Maximus’s voice softened mockingly, like silk hiding a blade. “Then drop your title. Hand it over to me, and your Luna will be safe. It’s simple, isn’t it? A choice between love and power. But tell me, Alpha—without one, do you truly have the other?”Zarek’s hand shook as he pressed the phone tighter to his ear. His voice came rough, guttural. “Fine. I will hand it over. But Selene comes first.”There was silence for a long, agonizing moment. Then, another voice bled into the call, one Zarek hadn’t expected to hear in his darkest nightmares.“Orion.”The name tore from his lips
