The text came through just after I left Leila’s room.

Orion: Coffee House on Ash Lane. Come alone. It’s very important.

I didn’t reply. Instead, I grabbed my coat, slid into Zarek’s car again,and drove.

Why now? What did Orion know about Lucien that couldn’t be said in Zarek’s office?

And why did it feel like this wasn’t just about Lucien anymore?

I drove to the coffee shop at the corner of Ash and Briar, built between an old bookstore and a little flower shop. The “OPEN” sign in the window showed faintly. I pulled into the side lot and cut the engine. Stepping out, the wind pulled at my coat, cold and sharp. I couldn’t explain how I was feeling but something didn't feel right at that moment.

Still, I walked in.

And there he was. Orion.

He sat near the window, his one arm was across the back of his chair, a cup placed in front of him. His gaze turned to me as I approached.

“Selene,” he said, standing just enough to show respect before gesturing to the seat across from him.
