SELENE

“Luna Selene,” the maid’s voice broke into the silence of the room. “Your dress for the Lycan King’s celebration. Everything you need has been prepared.”

I barely looked up from the bed. Zarek hadn’t told me there was a celebration for the Lycan king, he didn’t tell me anything and besides we have been dealing with a lot in this pack. We just celebrated his birthday not long ago and now he is holding another celebration party. Luna’s surely have a lot on their plate. I raised my hand up from the bed, then I yawned, I didn’t speak, I just watched Brielle run around my room, setting the things I needed.

My wolf was silent too.

That silence wasn’t a peaceful one. It was like a heartbeat had stopped, and I had been pretending it didn't.

“Just leave it on the bed,” I said quietly.

The maid hesitated, watching me carefully. Then she nodded, “Of course, Luna,” she said and then she placed the elegant black dress on the edge of the bed before walking out of the room.

I stood up, slowly

SELENELeila’s eyes met mine as she reached the base of the stairs. I held her gaze for a moment—silent, steady—before I finally spoke.“Gather the elders,” I said. “And the senior pack members. Bring the new healer too.”Leila didn’t flinch. She nodded, calm and obedient, and turned without hesitation.Evelyn’s head snapped toward me, her voice laced with fury. “What the hell are you planning to do?”I took a slow step toward her. She backed up instinctively, her cloak brushing the hallway wall.“If you run,” I said, my tone low and venom-laced, “I will find you. And I will kill you.”She froze.“I’m done letting snakes slip through cracks. You’ve bitten one too many times, Evelyn. Now it’s time to burn the whole nest.”She swallowed hard, eyes darting past me like she was looking for escape. There wasn’t any.Minutes passed. I didn’t speak again. I didn’t need to. My silence said more than enough. Then soft steps returned—Leila, now walking briskly, her cloak swaying.“They’re comin

SELENE“Just go Evelyn, that estate would be a better place for you to avoid more troubles.” I said, my voice low.“More troubles? I am yet to start.” Evelyn muttered then she smiled. “Alpha, I have one piece of information that would shock you.”“Go on.” Zarek said, his voice deep.“Alpha Zarek,” Evelyn said louder this time, her voice trembling but sharp as a blade, slicing through the stunned silence like it had been waiting for this moment. “Your sister Leila is pregnant. And your Luna—your beloved Selene—has known about it since day one.”My heart stalled. The wind in the courtyard died. Even the guards stopped moving.Behind Evelyn, Clara let out a sharp inhale. But it was Zarek I felt the most—how his presence shifted beside me. Rigid. Disbelieving. Hurt.I stood frozen, spine straight, shoulders tense. I didn’t feel guilt. Not immediately. No—what I felt was something colder. That precise, deadly calm before the storm breaks. Like I’d just been handed a sword that already had

SELENEBriella stood in front of me, posture straight but eyes flickering with tension. Her jaw was tight, as though she were holding back more than just words.“She asked about Zarek’s food.”My stomach turned—not from surprise, but from confirmation. I’d felt it coming for days, like the cold edge of a knife sliding behind my back.“Evelyn?” I said, though I already knew.Briella gave a stiff nod. “Walked right into the kitchen like she owned the place. Said she was concerned about his well-being.”My lips twisted. “She’s not even subtle anymore.”“She and Clara have been lingering around the servants’ wing for days,” Briella added. “At first I thought they were just snooping for gossip, but now—” She hesitated. “I think she’s trying to get to him, Selene. Through his food. Through the staff. Through… whatever she is planning, I know it’s going to harm the Alpha.”“Really? What else did she tell you?” I asked, my voice low.Briella nodded once. “Said she was concerned for his health

The garden had emptied. The scent of humiliation still lingered in the air—Lucien’s desperation clinging to the stones like old rot—but Selene was already gone, swallowed by the shadows of her triumph. The moon glared down on the aftermath, silent and cold.Evelyn remained in the alcove, hidden by an arch of stone and ivy, arms folded tightly across her chest as she watched the warriors drag what was left of Lucien away.“Selene managed to get Lucien out of the way,” she murmured under her breath. “Who could be next?”Clara, standing just behind her, glanced around nervously before replying, “I didn’t know she was this strategic.”“She isn’t just strategic,” Vivian added from the other side, arms crossed tightly. “She’s dangerous. Ruthless.”A faint smirk tugged at Evelyn’s lips. “She’s finally becoming the Luna they all feared she would be. Shame it took betrayal to wake her up.”Clara stepped closer, her voice barely a whisper. “Lucien has lost his title. He’ll be banished… or worse

SELENE Briella rushed into the office, her cheeks flushed and eyes wide, clutching her cellphone like it was made of fire. “Luna, listen to this.”Nora and I stood up at the same time. I didn’t need to ask. The tension in the air, the barely-concealed chaos behind Briella’s urgency—I already knew it had something to do with Lucien. She tapped the screen, and the last few seconds of Mira’s live stream echoed through the room, her voice crackling with righteous fury.“To Selene… if you see this… know that I failed you too. But I won’t let him hurt you again. Not this time. Not while I still draw breath. You are my stepsister, and I am willing to do everything to make you forgive me.”The stream ended.I blinked at the silence that followed.Nora folded her arms. “Mira apologized. Do you think that’s real?”I scoffed, letting a bitter smile twist my lips. “I don’t care. She will still get her part of the punishment. Apologies mean nothing now. Not after what she helped destroy.”Briella

Mira’s voice cut through the air like a blade.“Take one more step, Lucien, and I swear—I’ll call a meeting. I’ll summon the elders, the council, every damn warrior in this pack. And I’ll tell them everything.”Lucien froze, his back still to her. “Everything?” he echoed coldly.“I’ll tell them you slept with me,” Mira hissed, “while you were still mated to Selene. That you used me like a pawn. That you betrayed the mate bond before it ever shattered.”He turned slowly, gaze ice-cold and void of remorse. “Do it.”Mira blinked.Lucien stepped closer, his voice low and dark. “Call your little meeting. Tell them all. I’m not afraid of the truth anymore. Not theirs. Not yours.”“You think they’ll let you keep your title after that?” Mira snapped. “You think the elders won’t strip you of your command, that your own warriors won’t revolt?”Lucien’s jaw flexed. “Let them try. I built this pack. Brick by brick, blood by blood. And if anyone—anyone—tries to remove me, I won’t hesitate to spill
