Fiona's pov

I trusted Logan, we had come a long way. Fought through darkness, survived things no one else could understand. Our connection had been forged in fire, but now something didn’t feel right.

I watched him from a distance, his face tense as Rowan spoke beside him. Every time they stood close, a strange feeling crawled over me like I was watching something I wasn’t meant to see.

Rowan had always been a mystery. Clever, Smooth, too calm to be clean. At first, I didn’t mind. I even admired how he handled people, how he stayed ahead in every situation but now? There was something in his eyes, something sharp and dark.

And Logan? He kept listening.

Every time Rowan spoke, Logan leaned in. Nodded and stayed quiet. I thought he was leading, but sometimes it looked like he was just following.

I started hearing things, quiet talk behind tents, rumors about Rowan’s real goals. That he wasn’t just helping. That he was playing a bigger game. Moving the pieces while no one noticed.

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter forty seven: buried but not broken

Fiona's pov “She’s not breathing.”My voice was barely a whisper, swallowed by the dust and darkness as I knelt beside Lila’s still body.“No. No. No, come on, Lila.” My hands trembled as I pressed my fingers to her throat, searching for anything, any sign of life, any flicker of warmth.Nothing.Logan dropped beside me, blood streaked across his temple, his chest rising and falling fast. “Fiona.....” he choked, his voice ragged from the smoke and effort. “Let me try.....”“No!” I snapped, clutching her close. My heart thudded so loudly it drowned out everything else. “She’s not gone. She can’t be.....”A sudden pulse of energy raced up my spine, warm and sharp and ancient. My breath caught.Lila’s chains were gone. The vines had dissolved the moment the crystals shattered, but the platform beneath us still shimmered faintly with our names.“Fiona,” Logan said quietly, looking around the wreckage of the cave. “What if this was the curse breaking? What if it took her?”“No.” My throat

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter forty six: destroy the curse

Fiona's povI didn’t hesitate. My hand slipped from Logan’s grasp as I rose to my feet and stepped toward the crack in the earth.“Fiona, wait!” Logan called, grabbing my arm. “You don’t know how deep it goes.....”“She’s down there!” I cried, my voice shaking. “I can’t leave her!”The creature shifted behind Rowan, its burned, glowing eyes locked on me. It didn’t speak, but I felt it… like it knew what I was about to do. Like it wanted me to go down there.“You’ll die if you follow her,” Rowan said softly, almost like he cared. “But maybe that’s the point.”I ignored him.“I have to do this,” I whispered to Logan. His jaw was tight, his eyes filled with fear. But he nodded once, and I saw the pain in it. “Then I’m coming with you.”“No,” I said. “You need to stop Rowan. He’ll take the circle. He’ll finish what he started.”“I’m not letting you go alone.”“You have to.”His hand cupped my face. “If you don’t come back....”“I will.” My voice broke. “I promise.”We kissed. It was quick

Freya's pov“Lila!” I screamed, pushing through the underbrush.Branches scratched my arms. Roots tugged at my feet. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.Behind me, I heard Logan calling my name. “Fiona......wait! Don’t run off alone!”But it was too late.Lila was gone and I had to find her.The forest was darker here. The moonlight couldn’t reach through the thick leaves. Every shadow looked like something waiting to strike. But I didn’t care.My heart beat so hard it hurt. Please, let her be okay.I thought I saw something move ahead, a flash of white cloth, a shape being dragged.“Lila!” I called again. There was no answer. Only the sound of the wind and the thudding of my feet. Then, a whisper. Not a voice, exactly. Just a feeling in the air like something watching.Something breathing near me, though I couldn’t see it.I stopped. The forest had gone too quiet.“Lila?” I said again, softly this time.Still nothing.I turned in a slow circle, trying to hear, to feel. Then , a hand gra

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter Forty four: bring Lila back to me

Fiona's povThe sky was deepening into a dark blue as the sun vanished behind the trees. The wind had grown colder, and the air felt like it was holding its pressure.Logan stood close, his body tense, his eyes always watching the shadows. Lila sat on a moss-covered rock beside the stone circle, arms wrapped around herself. And me?I stood in the middle.Staring at the carvings on the stones, staring at the sky.Waiting for what's next.“What happens if I make the wrong choice?” I asked softly, turning to Caleb. He didn’t answer right away. His eyes were far away, like he was seeing something I couldn’t. When he finally spoke, his voice was calm but sad. “Then the curse will take root again. Stronger. It will feed on pain , yours, Logan’s, your sister’s. Rowan will rise. And the creature guarding the curse… it will no longer wait.”I swallowed the lump in my throat. “So, if I choose love, I might lose freedom. And if I choose freedom.....”“You may lose him,” Caleb finished, nodding t

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter forty three: never coming to an end

Fiona's pov“Stay behind me,” Logan said softly, his hand reaching out to push Lila and me back. The creature stood at the edge of the trees. Its eyes glowed white, too bright for anything natural. It didn’t blink and it didn’t move but just watched. My heart beat faster. My hands were cold, even though I was sweating. “What is that?” I whispered.Logan shook his head slowly. “Not a wolf. Not human. Something cursed.”Lila clung to my arm, her voice shaking. “It followed Rowan. I heard him call to it. He said it came from the old blood.”I looked at Logan. “Is it after me?”He didn’t answer. He didn’t have to.The thing took one more step forward. Then another. The ground where it walked turned black, like the grass had been burned away.“Run,” Logan said suddenly.I didn’t argue. We turned and fled, deeper into the woods, the creature’s presence cold on our heels. The forest closed in around us. Twigs snapped underfoot. Branches scratched my arms. My lungs burned.Still, we ran.We d

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter forty two: the heart of alpha

Fiona's povI followed Logan closely, trying to match his steady, purposeful steps, but my heart was pounding like a drum in my chest.Rowan’s face haunted me. The way he’d spun around Lila, his fingers cruel and possessive as they touched her chin, whispering promises and lies like they were love. The way his eyes burned with a fire meant to consume everything around him , especially me.It wasn’t just the fear of what he might do to Lila, but the sick, twisting knot of jealousy that tightened my throat every time I thought of him so close to my sister.Logan’s voice cut through my spiraling thoughts. “We can’t stay here.”His tone was low, serious, sharp with urgency.I nodded, knowing he was right. Rowan wouldn’t give up easily. His thirst for revenge, for the pack, for me , it was all tangled up in his twisted desire to take what he’d lost.“Where will we go?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.“There’s a place,” Logan said, glancing over his shoulder to check we weren’t b
