Jasmine's POV

I had barely sat down in my office when Julia burst in like she was being chased after squealing outside the door. She didn’t knock or wait, just flew through the door with her hair flying behind her and the office tab in her hand.

She screamed so loud again that I almost fell out of my chair.

“What is wrong with you?” I asked, frowning.

“This needs a celebration!” she shouted, waving the tab. “Like, right now!”

I blinked at her. “What are you talking about?”

She ran to me, pushed the tab into my hands. “Just look! Read it! Read everything! Oh my God!”

I looked down and saw Blake’s post. I started reading slowly at first, but then my heart beat faster and faster with every line. Blake had written the whole truth. He said everything.

He admitted his mistakes. He said he regretted not trusting meI couldn’t hold it anymore. My eyes filled with tears, and I let them fall. I covered my mouth and cried.

Julia screamed and jumped, then hugged me so tight I could barely breathe

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 68

Jasmine’s POVWhen the man said his name was Daniel, something inside me twisted. The name felt heavy, like I should know it, but my mind was empty. I kept staring at him, searching for something familiar, but nothing came. The old woman beside me held my hand tighter. She did not trust him. I could feel it. She looked at him with sharp eyes, but he only smiled at me.“You don’t remember me, do you?” he asked softly.I shook my head. “No. I don’t. I don’t remember anything. I don’t know who you are.”He sighed, as if hurt by my words. “I thought so. I hoped seeing me might bring something back.”I swallowed hard. “You know me? You know who I am?”His eyes softened. “Yes. You are my wife. We were married. We lived together happily before that day. The morning of the accident took you away from me. I searched everywhere. I thought I lost you forever.”I froze. My breath caught. “Your… wife?”He nodded. “Yes. You are my wife, Jasmine.”The name hit me like a sudden light. Jasmine. The n

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 67

Author’s POVThe room was quiet except for the soft sound of a clock on the wall. A small window let in a thin line of light. On the bed lay Jasmine. Her body was wrapped in bandages. Her arms were weak and head throbbed. Her eyes opened slowly. At first, the light stung. She blinked many times as she tried to move her lips but no words came out.She looked around taking in her surroundings. The room was small, the walls were plain. A table stood by the corner with a bowl and a lamp. She tried to sit up but her body would not obey. Her heart began to beat fast. Fear rushed through her. She whispered weakly.“Where… where am I?”No answer came. She turned her head and saw a door. It was half open but heard footsteps outside. The door opened wider, and an old woman stepped in. Her hair was white. Her hands carried a tray with a cup and a cloth. The woman stopped when she saw Jasmine’s eyes open. Her own eyes grew wide.“You are awake,” the old woman said softly. “Thank God, you are awa

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 66

Blake’s POVI sat in the back of the car as my father drove me home from the hospital. My body was weak, but my mind was awake. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Jasmine. I saw her sitting next to me in the car that day. I heard her warning of the smell of the gas in the car. I remembered the fear when the car lost control. I remembered the truck coming towards us, trying effortlessly to pull the brakes but it was useless.I was rescued. I woke up in the hospital. But Jasmine… Jasmine was not there.I asked the officers who came to question me. I asked them where she was.One officer looked at me. He held his cap in his hands and spoke slowly.“She was not in the car when we arrived,” he said.I stared at him. “What do you mean she was not in the car? She was right there. She was sitting beside me. If you pulled me out, you should have pulled her out too.”Another officer sighed. He looked away. “It means she must have gotten out before we arrived. Maybe she tried to escape. Maybe s

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 65

Jasmine’s POVThe next morning, Blake moved around the room quietly. I watched him from the bed. He pulled clothes out of the closet and placed them neatly into the bag. His back was turned to me most of the time. I wanted to say something but the words didn’t come. I just sat there and looked at him while he zipped the bag shut.I kept thinking about what I said to him last night. I had blamed him when it wasn’t really his fault. I knew that now, but the thought of actually saying sorry made my chest feel tight. My pride stood there like a wall between us.“Ready?” he asked without looking at me.I nodded and stood up. “Yeah.”We left the hotel room and walked down the hallway. I could hear our footsteps and nothing else. No talking, no joking like before. Just the sound of our shoes against the floor. When we reached the car, Blake opened the trunk and placed the bag inside. I stood there with my hands inside my pockets, staring at the ground.I wanted to speak, but he didn’t look

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 64

Blake POV The moment that manager stepped out in that ridiculous blue suit and gave us that cold, judgmental look, I already knew where this was going."Blake… and your sidepiece… you should get a hint and leave now!" he barked, his tone sharp enough to cut glass. "Daniel is one of the supporters of this art gallery. We respect our supporters here. I do not want you two inside."I froze for a second. Did he just...? My wife? My wife, called a sidepiece?Heat shot through me. My hand slipped from Jasmine’s, and I stepped forward before she could say a word. My chest rose, breath heavy, and my voice came out louder than I intended."She is not my sidepiece!" I snapped, loud enough for people nearby to stop what they were doing. Heads turned, whispers spread like wildfire. "She is my wife! So watch your mouth. Curtail it. Or I’ll help you do it myself."I could feel Jasmine’s small hand on my arm, trying to pull me back."Blake… please," she said softly, her voice trying to calm me. "Do

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 63

Blake’s POVWe rushed out of the building together. I kept looking at Jasmine while we walked fast. My hands gripped tight around her wrist and I hastened her footstep out of the bakery to safety.“Are you okay?” I asked, trying to read her face.“I’m fine,” she said, though her voice was soft.I still didn’t trust her words. I watched her closely. “You sure? You didn’t feel dizzy back there? No pain?”She shook her head. “No… I’m fine. I just want to get out of here.”“Alright,” I said. “Let’s go to the car.”As we walked to the parking lot, I thought about maybe taking her to an art gallery nearby. She liked art, and I wanted to keep her mind off the things that were going on. I was just about to ask her when I heard a voice.“Well… look who it is.”My stomach tightened. I knew that voice. I turned, and there he was—Daniel walking toward us with a smirk, and as he passed Jasmine, he bumped his shoulder into hers on purpose.Jasmine stopped. I froze for a second, my jaw tightening. I
