The months started to pass me by within the blink of an eye, and before I knew it, I was already three months old. Since seeing my dragon form, Walter had personally started teaching me in the living room to control and practice changing forms nearly every day.

Every time he trained me, he made me change into my form as fast as possible. With his training, I could start changing within a couple of seconds because of how often I practice. After I could begin to change within ten seconds, he started taking me to the training area and teaching me how to fly, and he gave me my first flying lesson only yesterday.

The next day, Walter came into my room and changed me out of my night dress. After he did, he carried me out of my room and down the hall, "Today, Sash, I'm going to try and teach you how to fly again."

He took me outside to the training area and placed me in the centre of the arena, "Ok, Sash, today I'm going to show you how to effectively use your wings!"

I couldn't help but smile uncontrollably at the idea of a flying lesson, 'I'm surprised he's giving a baby flying lessons, but I'm too excited to care! I hope I get to actually fly this time! I know it's only our second lesson, but the previous one wasn't that fun. He didn't really have me do much of anything other than change and flap my wings for 10 minutes!'

I changed forms and sat still, waiting for Walter's instructions. Walter couldn't hold back his smile at the sight of me sitting there eagerly waiting, "This time, I'll also be taking on my full form and showing you exactly what to do!"

I couldn't help but look surprised, 'I've never seen anyone else in their full form yet. I haven't even seen myself in a mirror yet!'

Walter stood still for a second, but within the blink of an eye, he transformed into a dragon three times the size of a regular human. Seeing his full form, I couldn't contain my shock, 'Oh my god! He's HUGE!'

Walter leaned down to the point his chin nearly touched the ground so he could look at me properly, "I'll be demonstrating the most effective way to flap your wings to take flight. So you might want to lie down, so the wind doesn't move you."

He stood up and took a few steps back while facing me. He then started to spread and flap his wings. The way he moved them was very precise and fluid, almost effortless. Within moments, his feet left the ground, and he started to hover in the air.

Feeling the wind pressure, I couldn't help but lie down and watch in awe, 'He's really skilled at flying! Compared to him, the way I use my wings is messy and ineffective!'

Walter lowered himself back to the ground and closed his wings, "Now you've seen how you can give using your wings a try."

I got up, spread my wings, and started trying to imitate what Walter showed me, but what I was doing was very ineffective. I was flapping my wings twice as fast as Walter and twice as hard. Finally, after a minute of trying, I slowly started to hover off the ground.

Walter watched me with a look of pride on his face, "You truly are a natural-born talent!" But, as I tried to fly for as long as possible, I quickly exhausted myself. Seeing me look tired, Walter changed back and walked over to me while I was still in the air. When he got to me, my wings suddenly gave out on me, and I started to fall.

Before I hit the ground, Walter caught me in his arms. After he did, I changed back and fell asleep from exhaustion, "Amazing work today, Sash." after saying that, he kissed my forehead and took me inside.

When I woke up, I was inside a pushchair, and when I looked up, I saw Crimson pushing it. When she noticed I had woken up, she smiled, "I see you're finally awake! I'm taking you out to a tea party today!"

I was surprised by what she said, 'You're taking me to another one! And I know you're my Mother but isn't taking a sleeping child considered kidnapping?!' Whenever Crimson hosted a tea party or accepted an invitation, she always took me with her, almost as if I were one of her accessories.

'If she's taking me to a tea party, she has a bad habit of showing me off or bragging about me every time, which surprised me since she doesn't seem like the type to boast.'

The moment we arrived, the lady who was hosting the event greeted Crimson the moment she saw her, "Duchess Hastus! I'm so glad you could make it today!"

Crimson smiled at her, "Yes, thank you for the invitation, Lady Hanna Laseus. I'm glad you invited me today! Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to attend many social events after my daughter hatched, so my invitations have decreased lately."

After Crimson said that, Hanna suddenly noticed me in the pushchair beside Crimson, "Oh, please forgive my rudeness. This must be her, then!"

"Yes, that's right, this is my daughter, Sasha!"

Hanna leaned in closer to get a better look at me, and as she did, she stared at me with an expression of disbelief on her face, "My god, she's absolutely adorable! I wish I had a daughter as eye-catching and cute as this!"

Crimson giggled at her comment, "There's no need to worry! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful daughter of your own!"

Hanna pulled a tired expression while exhaling, "After having three sons, I don't think it's likely that my last two children will be girls..." Then, Hanna's expression changed, looking more irritated and vexed, "I love my sons, but they can be little monsters! They destroy everything in site, setting everything on fire! They never give the maids or me a moment's rest! I bet having a cute daughter like this would make all your troubles melt away..."

Crimson smiled nervously at what she said, "I'm sure you'll be lucky when your next child hatches...!"

Moving on from the conversation, we headed to the main area where everything was set up and waiting. Finally, after just ten minutes, more people started arriving.

Not long after, everyone arrived, and they all sat around the table while I was put in a highchair beside Crimson. It didn't take long before people tried winning over Crimson by trying to pay me compliments.

"Duchess Hastus, your daughter looks beautiful today! And her dress looks stunning! Is that an original by Velsen Lebelle?!"

Crimson smiled at her statement, "Thank you, Countess Valrus, and you're correct; the Duke managed to get him to create this and several other dresses for her!"

The moment Crimson confirmed it and told them that I had more than one, everyone around the table couldn't stop from not so subtly whispering among themselves. Then, finally, one of the women decided to speak up, "Duke Hastus spent that much buying new dresses?!"

Crimson smiled brightly, "That's right! Because of how talented our daughter is at such a young age, he felt like he had to celebrate by gifting her something!"

I couldn't help but look irritated at Crimson's comment, 'I don't consider making me wear THIS as a gift...!'

The lady looked awe-struck by what Crimson said, "Is she really that naturally gifted that the Duke would buy her such expensive gifts?!"

Crimson nodded, "Yep! She breathed fire the same day she hatched, and she managed to take on her full form a month after that!"

A couple of the ladies responded with an audible gasp, and the others responded with further blatant whispering. The lady who was talking also couldn't have looked more shocked, "She took on her full form?! I've never heard of a child, let alone a baby taking on a full form before they're 10! The youngest ever recorded was 8!"

"It's true; she watched the Duke teaching a lesson on how to change forms often. But, then, she changed right in front of us during one of his lessons!"

The lady's eyes lit up, "Could you possibly show us?!"

"Of course, but I'll have to ask Sasha first!"

I flinch slightly at her comment, 'What am I, a magic trick?!'

Crimson turned towards me, "Sasha, could you show the ladies your full form?"

Crimson looked at me with a cute pleading expression. I couldn't help but huff and roll my eyes at her and the situation, and I inevitably decided to do what she asked.

I closed my eyes, and after a moment, I took on my full form. After seeing it, all the ladies present fell silent for once. They were all at a complete loss for words. Crimson sat watching them with a pleased expression, "Now you can see why the Duke and I are very proud of her!"

The lady, while completely shocked, swallowed back her surprise, "Yes... She's truly impressive. I believe she will forever be regarded as the dragon nation's greatest talent!"

"Thank you for the compliment! I also agree with you. I believe Sasha will achieve great things in the future after her coming-of-age ceremony!"

Seeing how she all but gloated, I couldn't help but feel fed up with being treated like her toy, 'She makes it sound like they're her future achievements...'

After a while, the party began to wrap up, and Crimson put me back in the pushchair and started to head back home. On the way, Crimson kept staring down at me with a happy face, 'Why do you keep staring at me? I performed like you asked, so I don't get what's up with you.'

Out of the blue, Crimson started talking to me, "I truly am looking forward to what you'll achieve in the future, not just because you're a natural-born talent, but because you're my precious only daughter, and I want to watch you grow up well and become happy!"

I couldn't help but tear up a little from her words, 'She might be incorrigible at parties, but I can tell she truly does love me. At this rate, I think I might actually start seeing her and Walter as my parents. Even though they are my parents...'

After half an hour of walking, I started questioning if Tasha really knew her way to the market square, "Are you sure we're going the right way?""Yep! I'm 90% sure!""What about the last 10%...""I'm 100% sure!""..."We wandered around, aimlessly getting deeper into the city. After a while, I was sure Tasha didn't know where she was going, "You don't know where we are, do you? This looks nothing like the area near the market square.""I'm sure we're close...""Should we ask one of the patrol guards for directions?""They might get suspicious and send us back!""Wouldn't that be better than being lost?""But we'll be punished!""Fine, then ask someone when they walk by.""But what if they also get suspicious and report us to the guards?""Not everyone is suspicious of us!""You don't know that...""Fine, I'll keep following you for now, but if we don't find it soon, I'm gonna ask someone where to go."Tasha looked relieved and happy that I wasn't going to ask for directions yet, "Yay!

After the guard left, the king looked at Terry and me, "You should bring her up here and let her rest on the crown princess's throne." Terry looked at the king, surprised, "Are you sure, your majesty?" "Of course I am. My son has troubled her greatly. It's the least I can do." Terry then made his way up the stairs and placed me down on the throne beside the king. Once I was sat down, I said to the king, "Thank you." After an hour, the guard returned with two other guards dragging Larry by the arms, wearing special shackles that prevented him from using mana, casting spells, or changing forms. The two guards dragged Larry up to the king and dropped him to his knees. Larry looked up at the king and asked, "Father, what's the meaning of this?!" Without realising it, Larry's eyes were still in their pink state for the king to see, "I can see you actually had pink eyes this whole time." Larry then realised his mistake, "That's beside the point! Why have you ordered your guards to put

Over the next month, the guards set up the barrier like Larry told them to, which kept me from collecting the mana in the air. Finally, after that month was over, it came that time when Larry would normally give me some small amount of food. One of the guards in front of my cell received a call from Larry. When he finished talking, he turned to me and said, "His Highness said he won't be able to make it until later today, and because of your previous attempt to escape, he won't be bringing you this month's ration." I let out an amused huff, "He barely feeds me already. So why do I care if he misses one?" The guard didn't respond and turned back around to continue standing guard. Finally, after a few hours, it came time for the guards to change, but no one came in to relieve the current guard. After a few minutes of waiting, the guards in front of my cell became restless, "The next shift should be here by now. Those two in the evening shift are normally more punctual than this." "J

Larry would come back to the cave every week to try and convince me to sign the contract, but I refused every time. Finally, after three weeks, Larry came into the cave carrying a stale piece of bread, "You've been in here a month now. Aren't you hungry?" "I went two months without eating of my own choice. You really think I'll cave after a month?" Larry smiled at me, "I have to admit, I do admire your spirit. I think you've earned this much, at least." he ripped the bread in half and threw one of the halves into my cell at my feet, "I'll give you the other half next month." He then left the cave. I reached over, picked up the piece of bread he gave me, and took a small bite out of it, 'Tastes awful, but it's better than nothing. But I should ration it for the next month.' After taking just one bite, I put the bread down beside me and started practising my mana control, 'He said I can't use my mana, but what about the mana in the air?' Concentrating, I was able to see the faint gl

  • A Dragons Heart   The cave

As I slowly started to come to, I opened my eyes and looked around the room. I noticed I was in what looked like a cave. After completely coming to, I sat up and had a proper look around. I was inside a cell built into the corner of a cave with guards standing just outside the door to the cell. Feeling groggy along with a headache, I took off my wig and mask and threw them on the ground, "What the hell happened? Where am I?" "You always ask a lot of questions, don't you?" I looked over to my left and saw the man in the crow mask standing outside the side of my cell, "Who are you? Are you the bastard that kidnapped my child?!" The man smiled as he took a few steps to the side, allowing me to see the rest of the cave. As I looked behind him, I saw a pedestal in the middle of the room with my egg on it, "My egg! What the hell do you want?!" "You never stop asking questions. That's something I really couldn't stand when we were together." "Just tell me who you are!" The man faced me

Terry and I spent the next month working together, combing through everything we could find on the three noble families we were looking into, but we couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. While Terry and I were looking through documents in his office, I finished reading the one I had and threw it on the desk, "Nothing! I can't find a single thing that can help us!""Sash, please, we'll find something. It'll just take time.""Terry, it's been nearly two months since our egg was taken from us. I want to get it back.""I do too, but we have time. The child won't hatch for nearly five years. So we have all that time to search.""From what I've seen, we're not even close. It's obvious after looking through all this these families didn't do it!""Then we start again and look for something else to help us.""And how long will that take? I don't want to leave our child's life up to some ruthless bastards who stole it!""What do you suggest we do then? We've been doing all we can. It's jus
