CHAPTER THREE

*SIENNA*

I was still trapped in the grip of fear.

Why am I always this unlucky?!

I still can't believe that he's actually my new superior.

My mind replayed the words I’d thrown at him.

Gosh!

Why did I even  say such a thing? 

I should’ve been more careful with what I said.

What if he decides to fire me because of that?

No! I can’t afford to lose this job.

I need this job to support my mom and sister.

I need to calm down and think. 

My gaze flew out to the man, who sat at the end of the room, and he introduced himself as Alexander Graves.

When he did not look at me, I bent my head over and dropped my hair, leaving half of my face undiscovered.

I  hoped  that his eyes would not see mine.

Every single moment felt unbearable to me.

I felt a wave of relief and happiness when the meeting finally ended.

I slipped out of the conference hall, quietly hoping he still hadn’t noticed me.

 

The moment I got back to my seat, I told Clara everything that had happened.

You can't be serious!

Do I look like I'm joking? I asked ,

Her eyes flew open in shock. “Well, then you should be excited—you slept with such a gorgeous man. 

Please, I’m really worried he might try to get back at me… maybe even dismiss me. I have my mom and sister depending on me. I can’t afford to be without a job right now.

Oh no

I shouldn’t have gone to the bar. I really messed up last night.

I should’ve been more careful with myself.

I regret having a one-night stand.

I regret giving him 400 dollars.

I also feel bad about insulting him.

How did I end up in this terrible mess?

Clara nudged me gently. Relax , maybe he didn't even see you.

Suddenly, the manager called me.

Sienna, Mr. Graves wants to see you in his office right now!

I'm finished! 

My hand shook me when I knocked on his office door.

Enter,  he said , with  his deep voice.

I entered and was cautious and uncertain.

I was so anxious.

I can’t believe the man in pajamas this morning is actually my boss. Life really is full of surprises.

Ugh… I really didn’t like this surprise. At all.

I stayed there silently while he continued going through some documents , 

without even noticing I was there. 

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding and asked, ‘Mr. Graves,  You sent for me?

He looked up, and I gave him a beautiful smile.

Maybe he could notice me in a new way… as the good person I am.

His gaze traveled over me, slowly from head to toe.

His eyes held a cold intensity that made me shiver.

I felt so uneasy and tried hard not to shake.

He sat back on his chair and said casually, I believed the people here would act responsibly… seeing you here is surprising.”

His words struck me hard, leaving me breathless.

I know I messed up last night, but that doesn’t mean he can just label me as irresponsible.

The one thing I really hate is when people look down on me.

Before I could stop myself, I said, ‘With all due respect, sir, it’s not professional to bring up private matters at work. And honestly… you shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

The look on Alexander’s face changed.

Ugh, seriously? 

It looked like I just made him even more upset.

I whispered, I’m definitely losing this job.
