Chapter 15

Author: Pigmy Bean
Harriet rose to her toes and lunged for a kiss, almost like she had lost her mind. Jim stepped back, but she kept moving forward.

Jim had never known Harriet could be so strong. In his eyes, she had always been gentle and fragile.

Her breath brushed against his neck. Finally, he snapped back to reality and shoved her away.

"Enough, Harriet! I'm your brother!"

Jim practically shouted the words, his voice filled with disbelief and desperation. However, Harriet seemed unable to hear him at all.

  • A Game Called Forever   Chapter 19

My eyes burned with tears. Without hesitating for even a second, I unzipped the tent, grabbed the hand reaching out to me, and pulled myself to my feet. Then I ran.The wolves that had moved away were drawn back by the sound of our footsteps. In the blink of an eye, they were right in front of us.I felt the hand gripping mine tighten, and his pace quickened."Don't be afraid. Just run with me."I nodded.Even though I was already exhausted and could barely run anymore, I forced my heavy legs to keep moving. I did not dare slow down, let alone stop.Just as I struggled to keep going, my foot caught on a rock, and I stumbled and fell. Before I could get back up, a wolf lunged straight at me. Wilson quickly dragged me forward, but another wolf attacked him from the side. He had no time to worry about me and could only keep shouting for me to climb the tree. However, more and more pairs of glowing green eyes surrounded me. I could not find a single chance to climb.I carefully ba

  • A Game Called Forever   Chapter 18

Jim felt like a cold wind had blown straight through his chest after those merciless words. He pressed his lips together, tears clinging to his lashes."Cecilia, I'm sorry. I was wrong before. I never understood where the line was between a brother and his sister, but I understand now. Can you forgive me one more time? I already had the house renovated. Look, I even got the breed of cat you used to love."He hurriedly pulled out his phone and held it in front of me, swiping through photo after photo.I did not even look up. I simply slapped his hand away."I don't want to see it. I'm not interested, and I don't like cats anymore."His phone hit the ground. For a moment, Jim looked so heartbroken that he could barely breathe. Still, he forced a smile, crouched down, and picked it up."Okay. Then when you go back, we can—"I cut him off impatiently, "Do you not understand what I'm saying? I'm not going back. Even if I were, I would never get back together with you. So, stop foll

Cecilia's POV:"Ms. Carter, take a break. I don't think we're going to see the pride today. Once you have rested, we should head back to camp."I waved him off. My eyes never left the monitors.I had been in Frisia for more than a year, and filming the documentary had been far harder than anyone expected. We barely had enough usable footage to show for it, and one of our crew members had even come close to being mauled.A lot of people had quit because of it. They packed their things and went straight home. Fewer than twenty people remained now, which was pitifully small for a professional production team.Still, we had not given up. We were holding on and doing everything we could to finish what we had started. Then a cup of warm water appeared beside me. The familiar scent made the tips of my ears turn red."Have some water. I'll keep watch for you."I quietly said okay and let him take my place. I had barely gotten to my feet when someone caught the edge of my shirt."Ms. C

The doctor did not seem concerned."Don't worry. These are just treatment methods. They won't cause any harm. Our hospital always puts the patient's wishes first."Hearing that, Jim finally relaxed.Just like he used to, he reached out and gently rubbed Harriet's head."Be good, Harriet. Cooperate with the treatment. Once you're better, I'll come get you. I'm still paying the rent on your current place. I'm just going to move into our wedding home with Cecilia. You don't mind, right?"In the past, Harriet truly would have objected. However, now, what right did she have to refuse? She nodded repeatedly."Jim, I don't mind. I can move out. I won't bother you and Cecilia. Just don't leave me here, okay? I'm Harriet. Please don't leave me behind."The same words she had said countless times before reached Jim's ears. However, this time, they could no longer touch his heart. He gently pushed her away. "I'm not leaving you."His expression was still as gentle as ever. Yet to Harrie

She wiped away her tears again and again, yet the smile at the corner of her lips never faded."Jim, don't you think you sound ridiculous saying that yourself? We're not even related by blood. What gives you the right to keep calling yourself my brother? Do you really see me as nothing more than your little sister?"And what are you pretending for now? You've liked me for a long time, haven't you? If you never had those feelings for me, then why did you let me get close to you again and again

For a moment, all Jim could hear was a high-pitched ringing in his ears.A terrible thought suddenly surfaced in his mind. He did not have time to say another word to the wedding company. He hung up immediately and called Cecilia.Only one day had passed. Usually, after the phone rang a few times, he would hear the cold automated message telling him that no one was available to answer. This time, however, the phone did not ring at all. Instead, a recorded voice came through immediately."The number you have dialed is no longer in service..."Jim's chest tightened as a wave of unease washed over him. His eyes stared blankly ahead, slowly losing focus. He called Cecilia's best friend next, but every call was rejected. Eventually, even her friend blocked his number. The messages he had sent Cecilia remained untouched in their chat history, with no reply and not even a sign that she had seen them.A terrible sense of panic began to rise inside Jim. For the first time, it felt as th
