Bliss went white with fear and spun around to run, but Leone caught up with her in a few strides and clamped a hand around her wrist.

She struggled with everything she had, tears spilling nonstop.

Leone held her tighter, his voice rough as he tried to reassure her. "Don't be afraid. I'm just teaching them a lesson so they don't ever dare lay a hand on you again."

"It's not that! It's not like that at all!" Bliss looked up at him through a blur of tears.

"That day, Anna was the one who protected me. She was hurt so badly, but she still kept me behind her! She's such a good person. How could I ever do something like this to her?"

Something stirred sharply in Leone's eyes.

Leone tried to explain. "That's all in the past. Now, I just—"

Bliss shook her head and tore herself out of his arms. "Anna never hurt me. She saved my life. She's such a good woman. Why didn't you cherish her?"
