Auren's pov.

After Mira left, I didn't stop practicing. Day and night I would practice and make sure I learn a thing or two on how to spread my lightning powers.

Mira had mentioned that the lightning powers was the real threat for now and that I needed to focus on it.

I was glad to have someone like Mira by my side. I wonder what it would be like if not for her.

After the whole practice,I noticed I could make the sparks dance, shape them, even let them vanish when I wanted. But now… something was different.

Today I noticed the walls of the Ashborn cell were starting to feel tighter. Like they were closing in.

Since that day, mira had been visiting more regularly, always and making sure I was progressing.

Today, I wasn alone in the cell, Mira didn't come today.

I shook my head from side to side as I began pacing the room, back and forth. My heart beats faster with every step.

She had never missed a visit since that day and she had told me that she won't miss any day till I fully

Auren's povI had been dreading this day. After everything that happened last time with the lightning, the fire bursting out of me, and the guards getting hurt.I didn’t think Mira would still want to teach me though she hadn't said anything like she wasn't going to, but I was still scared, stoll had the fear in my mind. However, Mira had come back, she returned just like she had promised, And this time, she brought something new.“I brought flame stones,” she said, holding up a small pouch. “These come from the Redspire Mountains. They burn without smoke. Perfect for training.”My eyes narrowed, “where did you get it from?” Mura giggled, “I have my ways.” I sat on the cold floor of the Ashborn cell, watching her set everything up. My hands were still bandaged from last time. The burns were healing, but slowly. My nofu had taken a lot of damage from the outburst I had the lady time, and somehow it had slowed Down my healing process. Mira had told me that with time and proper trai

Auren's pov. my mind was far away, clouded. How could the lightning lash out of my fingertips without my consent?. I could have injured or even killed the man. I still have no idea why silas had decided to force me into fighting. Though my powers are strong, I Can't control it, I still feel pain all over me. I shook my head leaning back and resting my back on the stone walls of the cell. It's been two days since the incident. I have been retired back to this hell hole called a cell.I kissed my teeth, I sat on the floor with my knees pulled up to my chest, trying not to think too much about the whole thing. I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath. It seemed after the incident at the training ground, my lightning abilities have even worsened, triggered to the point were I could barely even hide them.It was frustrating and I needed a solution. As I sat down, sparks danced around my fingertips. Tiny flashes of white and blue lightning zapped in and out of sight. Though It did

James pov. Jon charged from the side, yelling loud. The Ashborn turned his spear, trying to stop him. That’s when I struck, of course Jon had understood. I tackled him off the mound and we dropped to the ground. We rolled as dirt flew all over the place. He punched my jaw, I felt it, it was as if my jaw was shifted for a few seconds before it came back to normal. I wasn't going to let him have the upper hand, with that, I slammed my elbow into his ribs. He tried to lift his spear again, but I grabbed his arm and twisted it, causing the spear to fly from his hand.Cole joined in, kicking the Ashborn hard in the side. Jon came next, bringing his axe down, it was a brutal strike, fast and less say ugly. The Ashborn dropped to the ground, not moving. At that point it was as if the earth beneath us stopped moving.“Two down.” I shouted this time. But I knew the words weren't over. I knew they had something up their sleeves. I glanced behind me quickly and I could see the two warrior

James pov. Hunters? What do they hunt? I narrowed Eyes taking in the details before me. My eyes went to their attires. They wore long black robes, torn and stained like they had just crawled out of a grave. I frowned seeing this. Well I had not expected more anyway. I laughed, a sihb to show the ashborn I wasn't afraid of him in any way. “What do you mean Hunters? And what trap are you talking about?” Of course I was playing dumb, I wanted to converse with them a little as they have always been known for displaying brute strength with less communication. The man giggled, clearly disregarding my question “today you die” I frowned, “I wanted to have a little conversation with you. But it is clear you are in no moon for that” They just stood there staring at us without saying any word. “What do we do?” Lydia asked, stepping beside me. I tilted my head to look at her, “I have a plan.” Sheltered at me for a while and then nodded. With that, my attention went back to the ashborn

James pov. Tobin had done a good job for us. He had helped lead us into the right path, though there has been no sign of the arshborn Hideout or the ashborns themselves. I had a feeling we were on the right path. The forest was quiet. Only the sound of our footsteps and the rustling leaves filled the air. I walked in front, one hand on the hilt of my sword, the other brushing away branches from my face. Though we haven't seen any of the ashborn or even a sign of any of them, we needed to be alert. The sun had already dipped below the trees, and the sky was turning darker with each passing minute.Lydia walked behind me, her eyes scanning the woods. Jon was on the left side, and just as expected, he was always alert. Roland, on the other hand, followed beside two of our warriors. Meanwhile, the other three were scattered around, covering the sides and rear.“How far do you think we are from them?” Lydia asked in a low voice.I didn’t stop walking. “Not far now. The scent trail
