Nora's POVI was enjoying a glass of juice on the balcony of the living room when I saw Sophia being escorted to Damien's office. She was beautiful and the fact that even I could not deny it was so annoying. The guard, Carl, was saying something to her but she ignored him, walking confidently to see my mate.I was still seated there when Carl escorted her out again but this time, her smile was bolder and brighter. I almost fell off the balcony, straining my neck to get a good look at her. She looked happy...and satisfied."No, don't even go there. Our mate would never do such a thing. There is nothing going on between both of them.""And how would you know?" I attacked Nyx, sick of her always taking Damien's side in everything. "You weren't in there with them and neither was I but I saw the look on her face when she came out. There is definitely something going on between Damien and her.""I think you are always too quick to judge our mate," Nyx pointed out but I was burning with jeal
Damien's POV “How did the journey go, Alpha? I wanted to come over earlier but I thought you needed some more time to rest,” Seyric said, sitting in the chair I pointed to him. Nora was in the garden, giving my Beta and I some privacy to discuss.“Unsuccessful, to be honest. I didn't find anything in the old laboratory unfortunately but I'm still on the lookout. Some contacts of mine will be keeping an eye on the building for me in the meantime but while I was there, the old building looked abandoned. I don't think it's being used for anything till now.”Seyric stroked his chin, thinking about all I had said. “We shouldn't be quick to celebrate though. Another scientist could have discovered the secret underground lab and could be making use of it. It's not necessary that the kidnapping has to be done by the former group.” He was right that we shouldn't be narrow-minded but with little evidence to work with, it was easier to assume that we were working with the same enemy as before.
Nora's POVThe next morning, I woke up, not feeling any better. Damien was still not back and had not sent me a message or called even once to let me know how things were going. Was that how I was supposed to know that he cared about me?I took a quick shower, not bothering to wash my hair because I wasn't going anywhere anyways. I had no job or responsibilities that required me to leave the packhouse, so I went downstairs to have breakfast. "What's for breakfast, Celine?" I called out on my way down the stairs. My appetite was not back but maybe if she prepared something I liked, I would not have a hard time eating it."I think I want some eggs with bacon on the side and some whipped—"My order remained incomplete when I looked in the direction of the dining room and saw someone sitting there. He was sipping from a coffee mug, looking directly at me over the rim of his mug.I rubbed my eyes with my palms, unable to believe my eyes. I couldn't move either, standing there in shock and
Nora's POV The day rolled from morning into afternoon but I didn't notice it. I sat in my room with a long face and no motivation to do anything. Was it just a coincidence that I got that way after Damien left that morning?"No," I got up from my lounge chair, pacing the room. "I'm just bored, not sad.""Actually, I think you are missing Dam—""I don't want to hear it, Nyx!" I cut her off harshly, knowing what she was about to say."Why don't you want to admit that you miss Dam—" she tried again but I wasn't sleeping."What did I just say? I don't miss anybody; I'm just bored out of my mind because I have nothing planned to do all day but that's about to change," I faked a confident smile to convince Nyx but I could feel her rolling her eyes at me."Since he is away, why not spend time trying to know more about our mate?" Nyx suggested , something I had not thought about since Damien bid me farewell that morning. I only knew the little about him that he had told me himself but other
Damien's POV The dark-haired guy speaking with Rachel suddenly looked at me, smiling mischievously.“Rachel, you didn't introduce me to your friend here. I don't think he and I have met.”I forced a stronger grip on Dante, sweat pouring down my back. Rachel actually blushed, holding a hand over her mouth.“Sorry about that. Andrew, this is....” she turned to me and paused for two reasons. One, I had not told her my name yet and two, her eyes widened when she saw the beads of sweat on my forehead, going speechless.“Oh my, what's going on? Are you...are you okay? You are sweating so much. Do you need anything? Water, maybe?” she pushed a glass of water my way immediately she saw my discomfort. I ignored her, my throat suddenly so dry that I could not reply her even if I wanted to. I had to get out of there before I lost my grip on Dante or the consequences would be dire. The humans were not merciful to werewolves and I didn't want to imagine a life without Nora.Immediately my though
Damien's POVI stood in the streets, staring at the numerous houses and unfamiliar faces. The human world looked so different from the last time I was there. Things had changed drastically from the people to the atmosphere...everything was different and not in a good way.I recalled my way around because I had been sent on assignments to the human world in the past but I was so surprised to see how much the environment had changed. It was only a matter of time before the humans destroyed the very place they called home.I checked into the first decent hotel that was closest to my destination after withdrawing some cash. The receptionist was lazily drawing circles on a piece of paper but once she saw me, she sat up immediately. Her eyes ran from my face down to my waist and a bright smile filled her face."Hello, sir. My name is Christy and welcome to...welcome to Gareth's Haven. How may I help you today?" She was almost shouting out of excitement that she was drawing the attention of
