Maxwell’s Apartment — 10:00 AM

Alita walked through the gates of Maxwell’s luxury apartment complex.

Since she had been his girlfriend for years, the gatekeeper didn’t question her.

He simply smiled politely and opened the gate.

“Good morning, Miss Alita.”

She forced a weak smile before walking inside.

Her heart felt unbearably heavy.

Right now…

She just wanted someone to hold her.

Someone to tell her everything would be okay.

She entered the house and slowly lowered herself onto one of the plush white couches in the living room.

Her body felt exhausted.

Her mind felt empty.

“Where’s Maxwell?” she asked the maid, who was dusting a nearby table.

The maid froze.

The feather duster slipped slightly from her trembling hands.

“Oh… the boss…” she stammered.

“He… he went on a business trip.”

Alita frowned.

Something felt wrong.

The atmosphere inside the house was strange.

Too quiet.

Too tense.

The maid refused to meet her eyes.

“A business trip?”

Alita slowly stood.

“Since when does Maxwell travel without telling me?”

“He always calls.”

“He always texts.”

The maid swallowed nervously.

“I… I don’t really know, Miss.”

As Alita took another step, she noticed the maid quickly trying to block something on the floor with her foot.

“What are you hiding?”

“N-Nothing, Miss Alita!”

The maid stepped aside too late.

Alita looked down.

Her entire body froze.

Lying on the polished wooden floor was a black lace bra…

A matching pair of torn panties…

And beside them…

Maxwell’s trousers.

The blood drained from Alita’s face.

Her stomach turned violently.

Those weren’t the maid’s clothes.

They were expensive.

Designer.

A woman’s lingerie.

Her fingers slowly covered her mouth.

No…

Without saying another word, she ran toward the staircase.

Her heartbeat pounded louder with every step.

Halfway down the upstairs hallway…

She stopped.

A woman’s moan drifted through the bedroom door.

Soft.

Breathy.

Intimate.

Alita felt her knees weaken.

Her trembling hand reached for the doorknob.

Then—

She heard a familiar voice.

“That was the best ride ever, babe,” Bianca purred.

Alita stopped breathing.

Her own sister.

“You see?” Bianca giggled.

“I told you I’m better than that useless girlfriend of yours in every way.”

“Of course you are,” Maxwell replied with a laugh.

“You’re a real woman.”

“She’s just a child.”

Tears blurred Alita’s vision.

She leaned against the wall to keep herself from falling.

Then Bianca spoke again.

“I would’ve loved to see the look on her face when she finds out we were behind everything that night.”

Alita’s eyes widened.

Behind everything…?

“I’m still confused,” Bianca continued.

“How did she get pregnant?”

“She never even made it back to her room.”

“I’m wondering the same thing,” Maxwell replied.

“The men we paid to assault her and record everything told us she disappeared before they could find her.”

“They searched everywhere.”

“But she was gone.”

“So if they didn’t do it…”

“Then how is she pregnant?”

Bianca frowned.

“Maybe they lied just to get more money.”

“I don’t think so,” Maxwell replied.

“Whatever happened to her after she disappeared isn’t our problem.”

Bianca smirked.

“Maybe she was cheating on you all along.”

Maxwell laughed.

“Don’t call it cheating.”

“I never loved that bitch.”

“The foolish girl mistook lust for love.”

“She was nothing more than a toy.”

Bianca narrowed her eyes.

“Wait…”

She looked at him suspiciously.

“You didn’t sleep with her… did you?”

Maxwell burst into laughter.

“You know that’s impossible.”

“She acted like some untouchable saint.”

“She never even let me touch her.”

“I couldn’t get past her clothes.”

Bianca relaxed and smiled.

“Good.”

“I thought you were falling for her.”

Maxwell wrapped an arm around Bianca.

“Never.”

“You’re the only woman I want.”

“As for whoever got Alita pregnant…”

He shrugged.

“Not my problem.”

“The important thing is that everything worked out.”

“Her reputation is ruined.”

“And she’s completely broken.”

Bianca smiled.

“So…”

“When are you breaking up with her?”

A cold voice answered from the doorway.

“Before he breaks up with me…”

“I’m breaking up with him.”

The bedroom door swung open.

Maxwell and Bianca immediately pulled away from each other.

Their faces filled with shock.

Alita stood in the doorway.

Tears streamed silently down her cheeks.

But there was no sadness left in her eyes.

Only hatred.

“So…”

Her voice trembled.

“You’ve both been sleeping together behind my back.”

“And you planned to have me assaulted.”

Bianca rolled her eyes.

“Thank God you finally found out.”

“That saves us the trouble.”

Maxwell didn’t even bother denying it.

He calmly stood from the bed.

“Since you’re already here…”

“I’ll make things easy.”

“Bianca and I are getting married.”

“So we’re done.”

Alita stared at both of them.

The man she loved.

The sister she trusted.

Strangely…

She no longer felt confused.

The pain remained.

But the illusion was gone.

A small, bitter smile appeared on her face.

“Then…”

“I wish both of you a very happy married life.”

“You truly deserve each other.”

Without another word, she turned around.

She walked past the maid, whose eyes filled with guilt.

Then she ran.

She ran out of the house…

Out of the compound…

And never looked back.

She couldn’t return to the Brown mansion.

There was nothing waiting for her there.

No family.

No love.

No home.

She took a taxi straight to the airport.

There was only one place left for her to go.

France.

Her grandfather, Angelo Brown, still lived there.

Her late mother’s parents had never accepted Serena’s marriage to Marshall.

After the wedding, Serena had cut ties with them.

The last time Alita had seen her grandfather was at her mother’s funeral.

He had placed a small card in her hand and gently said,

“Come to me whenever you need help, Alita.”

“No matter what.”

As the plane rose into the sky, Alita looked down at Mexico City one last time.

She was alone.

Pregnant with a child whose father she didn’t know.

Her heart had been shattered.

But for the first time in years…

She was finally free.

Everyone pushed forward, desperate to get the best view. “Move! Get the camera closer!” one cameraman shouted, shoving another aside. “Do you think she’ll actually say something?” a female reporter asked excitedly. “I heard she doesn’t even speak to most of her managers.” “Who cares if she talks?” another reporter replied. “Just keep your eyes on the runway!” Vrooooom! The loud roar of jet engines echoed through the airport as a sleek matte-black private jet touched down. The tires hit the runway with a heavy thud. The crowd instantly exploded with excitement. “Oh my God!” “She’s here!” “She’s finally back!” A team of tall bodyguards dressed in black suits stepped out first. Their expressions were cold as they quickly formed a protective line. “Stand back!” “Give her space!” the head of security ordered. Th
