Grace's pov

I was spun around and pulled to a hard chest. When I saw it was Silvano, I tried getting out of his hold, but he held me firm.

“Grace,” he said, his voice low and breathless from rushing after me. “Please let me explain,”

“Grace,” he said, his voice low and breathless from rushing after me. “Please. Don’t walk away from me.”

I folded my arms across my chest, standing in front of him as my throat tightened and his hands fell beside him.

“Okay, what do you want to explain?”

“Grace,” he breathed and I interrupted him.

“You lied,” I whispered. “You told me you thought of me. But you didn’t even want Antonio to check up on me.”

“I did think of you,” he said immediately, stepping closer. “Every damn day.”

“Then why ask him to stop checking on me?” I snapped.

“Because…” he paused, his jaw tight as he spoke. “Because I didn't want anyone to get attached to you,”

I stared at him. “Get attached to me, how?”

He looked at me. He really looked like he was at war with himself. He opene

Grace's pov That did it. Giovanni snorted first. Antonio barked out a laugh. Even Victoria chuckled, her hand covering her mouth. Luca leaned on the wall, openly grinning.I wanted the floor to open and swallow me whole.“I-it slipped,” I muttered.“Clearly,” he said, then turned to the others. “Everyone out. I’ll deal with this.”Deal with what?! The rug? Or me?I gulped. Yup. I was definitely screwed. The laughter died.“You heard me. Out. Now.”They began to shuffle, still trying not to laugh out loud.Giovanni patted my shoulder as he passed. “May the odds be in your favor.”I pray so tooWhen they all left and it was just the two of us, I walked to him slowly.“Listen, Vano, it was just soda—”He stepped closer, eyes dark. “That rug is from Milan.”I blinked and stopped.Milan?“It... still looks fine? I can wash it and it will be as new as before.”“It is silk and expensive.”Oh. Crap.“You are mad,” I whispered.“No,” he said calmly, picking up the soda can and inspecting

Grace's pov I lay in bed on my back, my legs lifted in the air as I swung them and was drawing imaginary images with my finger in the air. I should have been an artist because it seemed that my imaginary images were turning out well.I would consider that. Maybe later. After some time, I dropped my legs and turned on my back, my face facing up. “You are of no use in the house then,” the word echoed in my head and I groaned. Why can't I forget what he said to me? It was just a statement, right?Yes, it was but it struck something in me. That I was useless. That word hit me, and I took a step back from him, but he didn't notice because he left immediately after he said those words. He called me useless, so I am going to show him one. I took my blanket and headed to the living room. I made popcorn and poured it into a big bowl. I brought out a bottle of water and a can of soda and placed them on the table. There is one thing Vano hates so much and gets to him faster than anything.

Silvano's pov “Sh*t” I cursed as I read the message.“Luca is nowhere to be found. We need him now!” I called Luca immediately and got inside the car. While the phone rang, I ignored the car and drove off from the house. The phone kept ringing, but Luca didn’t answer and the call ended.Where the hell was he and where was his goddam phone?Where was he when I needed him?My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I pushed the car faster down the road.Every second felt like a lifetime.Instead of going to the house, I changed my direction and headed straight to the dock. I pulled my car over and saw Giovanni instantly. He was standing near the edge of the pier.“Giovanni,” I called out, getting close to him.He turned sharply, his eyes hard. “Silvano. It is still with the authorities, they demand to search the cargo,” “Where is Antonio?” I asked.“He went to meet Marco and they are finding a way around it,” I nodded“Marco better find a way to make this thing go in the next one h

Silvano's pov I didn’t look back as I walked away but damn, I wanted to.I wanted to see her reaction.Grace had no idea what she does to me. None at all.She stood there, wide-eyed and breathless, cheeks flushed like I had just whispered sin into her soul. Maybe I had. Maybe I wanted to.But I haven't yet and she drives me insane. One moment she is rolling her eyes at me and calling me names. The next, she is frozen under my gaze like she is afraid of how much she is affected by me and actually wants me.And that? That is dangerous.Because I wanted her.Not just the way a man wants a woman. Not just sexually or for pleasure in the bed alone.I wanted her silence and her laughter, her stubbornness and the way she said my name when she was annoyed.I wanted her loyalty. I want to be the first person she thinks of when she is in trouble. I want to be the only one whom she trusts. I entered my room and slammed the door shut. I was feeling it again. The tingling sensation in my skin

Grace's povI blinked. Once. Twice.“You— how long have you been standing there?” I asked, my voice a little too high.“Long enough,” Silvano replied, folding his arms as he leaned towards me, still wearing that maddening smirk. My cheeks burned. Of course, he heard us talking about him and his….arggghh. I don't want to think about it. Why did Harper bring it up?“You weren’t supposed to hear that,” I muttered, crossing my arms too, mostly to feel like I had some kind of defense.“Well, now that I did, you can either explain to me or leave me to my own assumptions.” He said, lifting his brows slightly.I groaned inwardly.“Harper was just being nosy, that's all.”“So you don’t know about my s*x life?” he asked, stepping a little closer.I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.He took another step. “Should I fill you in?”“What? No,” I said quickly, horrified to know anything about it. “You look nervous,” he said, his voice dipping and playful “Why?“I am not nervous,” I said too qui

Grace's povI waited a few seconds after he closed the door before I finally got out of bed, brushing my hair back while muttering to myself like a crazy person. “You talk in your sleep,” I mimicked, rolling my eyes. “Just take me out of this world.” I groaned to myself.I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, then I left my room and headed to the kitchen. The smell of coffee reached my nose before I even stepped into the kitchen.I needed that. I entered the kitchen and saw him.He was leaning casually against the counter with a mug in his hand like a walking Calvin Klein ad who just happened to make coffee in my house. Not my house though.“Morning, sunshine,” he said, his voice annoyingly calm.“I am not speaking to you,” I replied, walking past him and grabbing a mug.“You will,” he said.I poured myself coffee, refusing to look at him. “You are enjoying this way too much.”“I am,” he agreed shamelessly.I sipped my coffee, still facing away from him. “Silvano.”“Yes?”“Wh
