ALPHA DYLAN’S POV

“How has your search for the other half of the stone, been?” I asked my beta who was staring at the stone, with me.

“It has been futile, Alpha. It feels as if it doesn’t exist.” He replied, respectfully.

“Well, it does exist. And the death of my parents is the cause of this confusion. Keep searching. The stone keeps radiating. It means the other half, is somewhere, working fine.” I said as I left, then walked out of the secret room.

Then I went for the council meeting and I knew it was going to be some sort of complaint. Although, the council of elders, feared me, but they were the only one who risked their lives to table matters of pain, and bitterness, before me, as it was their job to do so and needed to swallow their fear.

I got to the meeting hall and as soon as I got there and they greeted me, they sat down.

“So, begin.”

“Alpha Dylan, we have come to you over an issue which is taking the lives of our people in the far end of our kingdom.” Elder Lane said, respectfully.

“And what exactly is that?” I asked, without expressing any emotion.

“It is more like a plague, Alpha. A dark one. It is taking down crops and people at the far end, and we need to do something about it.” Elder Dane said.

“And what solution do you proffer, Elder Dane?”

“The power stone. It is the only…”

I interrupted him by slamming my hand on the table, in anger.

“When you have a solution other than the power stone, you inform me. Until then, you stay patient and watch as the plague dies out.” I said, with clenched fists and teeth, then I barged out of the meeting room.

They have always been so keen on using the power stone, but it was dangerous, without its other half. When it was evening, I went to my chambers, waiting for Nisha to arrive as I had already informed the palace guards to direct her to my chambers. Just before I could sit on my bed, I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in.” I ordered.

It was Nisha who came in, looking a bit nervous, but I wasn’t really interested in that. What mattered right now was if she was exactly as they had said she was. Then I walked towards her, and smelled her scent. It was inviting and I was ready to get down with her.

NISHA’S POV

I was nervous, being in the Alpha King’s room. It was cold, and reeked of loneliness.
