CHAPTER 6— DETERMINATION

Celia had set a clock in her mind to wake up in the middle of the night and she actual did. She had fell asleep on the floor moments ago and now when her eyes were open, her view was different. She wasn’t on the blankets on the floor, wasn’t covered from head to toe in the sheets she had taken from the closet. Instead, she was wrapped up in Xavier’s arms on his bed.

It was surprising, especially since she couldn’t pick up on when exactly he had changed her location, but the wolf within her was glad he did. The warmth that radiated from his body was more comforting than the one she got from the blankets, his scent was even stronger this way too, and tingles ran along her skin like hands.

Celia pushed closer to him, basking in the beautiful sensation until she remembered just what she had woken up for. She was going to leave, straight out that window.

He really shouldn’t have underestimated her, she could do things that some men couldn’t, and even though she hated leaving, she hated staying too.

He’d only hurt her feelings, break her heart, she couldn’t let him cause her anymore pain, she was saving herself...from this...from him...

Slowly moving away from him, Celia grabbed the hand he had wrapped around her, cautiously shoving it aside.

After freeing herself, she sat up, shuffling as far as the edge of the bed before an arm circled around her waist. Frightened, she jumped, looking back at Xavier so fast that she almost had a whiplash. His eyes were open; barely, but she knew he could see her.

She also knew that she shouldn’t be admiring his beauty in a situation like this, but she couldn’t help it. He was so perfect; with bed hair, hazel eyes and sleep all over his face. He could drive her mad any day, he really was too handsome to be true. His looks really could sway her. . . just like it previously had which why she needed to climb down that window and now too. “Xavi—"

“I knew you’d do this...” His words sounded croaky, filled with rasp and all the sexiness in the world. “That’s why I put a lock on the window as for the door, I’m sure my men are out there...there are two extra wolves too.”

Celia’s mouth dropped. “You’re lying.” She flung his arm from around her and walked over to the window, pulling away the curtains. He wasn’t lying, that heartless man really locked the window. She turned to glare at him. “Where’s the key?”

“It’s safe wherever it is, go back to sleep or something.”

Celia’s eyes narrowed even more. “I don’t want to go back to bed, I want to go.”

“It’s in the middle of the night Celia, don’t start again.”

“Don’t start, you locked the f*cking window, it all started when you did that.”

Xavier covered his face with a pillow and groaned. “Please go to sleep.”

Celia shook her head, running her fingers through her blond locks. Why was he so adamant on keeping her here? Why was he doing this? Why was he...?

Celia’s breath left her lips in a sigh, her eyes dropping to the floor, she didn’t want to stay, not here, not anywhere near him. He had abandoned her for so long and now he wanted to keep her captive? There must be something behind it, he must have a reason and she was sure it was nothing good.

He was probably looking for another way to use her again. He was playing nice, lifting her from the floor and wrapping her up in his arms like a baby, did he think she was a fool? That’s exactly what he did the last time; played in her hair, kissed her forehead, held her hand, went on runs with her...he was too good at pretending and she wouldn’t fall for his games again.

She didn’t know what devil from hell forced her to step out of hiding to come here, but that damn demon was not at all on her side...it was on Xavier’s. But then again, Xavier was probably not really the alpha king’s son, but the devil’s...

He was showing her the signs. “I’m not going back to sleep, not here.”

“Celia, I told you th—”

“I don’t care about what you said, I just want to go back.”

Xavier pushed aside the pillow, his annoyed eyes finding hers. “Since you’re so determined, try the door, if you’re lucky, the guards might be sleeping.”

Celia did not need to be told twice, she walked over to the door and pulled it open, closing it just a second later. Two men stood like soldiers in front of it, wide awake, leaving her no space to escape.

“Are you ready to give up now...?”

The mockery in his voice had Celia’s fist clenching as she walked over to the blankets she had spread out on the floor. She wouldn’t give into him, wouldn’t let him give her a reason to stay, she’d leave this place, even if it took tying him to his own bed.

Just wait, Celia was not type of person to underestimate, determination was the world she lived in and her pride barely allowed her to lose.

Xavier would be sorry, for he had only seen the good side of her.
