‘’Miss Millie, the paints are here.’’ I look over at the woman and frown. ‘’It is just Millie.’’ ‘’Sorry.’’ I walk over to the paint cans to make sure that the colors are right and smile after seeing that they are. I am not a bitch, but I did make it known to Asher that the only way I would accept the place he bought for me is if I can do the project on my own. Gladly, he agreed and fired the guy, which I am glad for because that man wanted to take over things and do it his way without hearing my plans for a shop that will be my own. There is only one thing, though. Asher hired an assistant for me. But I am thankful for the help because I know I couldn’t do all of this on my own. I happily open the paint can and gush over the green and purple paints, along with the marshmallow white. I can see it now, these loud yet calm colors that will attract the eyes of those who come to simply buy baked goods but will stay to eat. We begin to paint the walls that are by the front door. I p
The car ride to my house is silent, Millie only stares out the window and it leaves me to wonder what she is thinking about. I hate that she doesn’t talk much and I hate that I care at all. ‘’Millie,’’ I say. She turns to look at me. ‘’You will be on your own for a while. For just a week, I have a business trip to go on.’’ Millie shrug. ‘’Ok.’’ ‘’Ok, and I expect you to go out with a bodyguard as well.’’ She gives me a look. ‘’I mean it, I don’t want anything to happen to you, and if you need anything. Just talk to Sabrina while I’m gone.’’ ‘’When will you be leaving?’’ she asks. ‘’In the morning.’’ She nods. When we get to the house, Millie hurries off to her room. I watch after her and then begin to unbutton my shirt, thinking that I have more than just my work cut out for me with her. Not only is she a virgin, but she doesn’t seem to care much. I’m guessing I did pick the right one. She won’t want a relationship with me. Just her bakery and citizenship. Millie comes ba
My alarm causes me to jerk from my sleep. I look at the time to see that I have two hours before my meeting. So I get up, brush my teeth and head down to the gym. When I get there, I am not so surprised to see Dovey. Our eyes meet and I look away, then make my way to the treadmill. As I work out, I can’t help but look in her direction and I see that she is doing the same. Our eyes would constantly meet in the mirror and I can see that with each contact, she is trying her best to keep my attention. After my half-hour working out, I make my way back to my room so I can get some food and be ready for the meeting. While getting ready, all my mind is on is Dovey. And even in the conference center, I couldn’t concentrate much because my mind keeps drifting to Dovey, her curvy body, and soft-spoken words. When I am finished with the meeting and exit the conference room, only to see Dovey standing there as if waiting for me. ‘’Asher I’m sorry, I should have never-’’ I don’t know why, b
‘’Georgia, I am going to run out for a quick minute.’’ She gives me a panicked look. ‘’I have to go to Asher’s office. He has the blueprint there and I want to take a quick glance at it for an idea.’’ ‘’Oh, alright. But please don’t stay too long.’’ She glances back at the men who are moving in the heavy kitchen equipment. I shake my head because I’m pretty sure that one of them is gay, and the other is married with his wife helping them. I wipe my hands in the apron, then take it off because it wouldn’t be a good look to be wearing it around. I walk over to the bodyguard. ‘’Since U Connect is so close and I have to go to Asher’s office for something, I will just walk there.’’ He nods. ‘’Ok, let me come with you.’’ I quickly shake my head. ‘’No, there is no need. I need to be alone for a while. Besides, I would rather for you to stay here with Georgia.’’ ‘’Mrs. Thomas, my job is to protect you. I don’t care about anyone else here and if the boss should find out that I left you
“I am going to nip to the toilet for a bit,’’ Georgia says, getting up from her perch beside me. I nod, biting into my milky way bar. As I look around, I am proud of my… our work. The place is coming together nicely. All I need now is the new windows and doors, along with the furniture, and we are good to be open. I didn't notice anyone coming in, but when I look up, Asher is standing before me. I suck in a breath and choke on the piece of chocolate I was chewing on. I cough and try to catch my breath, but it takes longer for it to go down. So I get up from my seat for a bottle of water. ‘’Hey,’’ he says. Either oblivious to my predicament or not caring at all. ‘’You’re back,’’ I say, then clear my throat. ‘’I am.’’ Asher nods. ‘’You took longer than a week,’’ I say. I don’t know why I said that, but if I’m being honest with myself. I missed his presence. I missed him coming to pick me up and even though we don’t talk much, I missed that. He looks away from me before answering.
The next morning, I woke early for work, because once again one of the idiots my father hired fucked up. I don’t see why he doesn’t just leave things to me. He isn’t getting any younger and needs to retire already. This place can survive without him and I have proved that time and time again. I pause when I see the light shining out from under Millie’s door, and just as I walk off, she gets out of her room. ‘’Good morning,’’ she smiles brightly at me. ‘’You are up early,’’ I note. ‘’I thought I could go jogging before heading to the shop. It is all Georgia’s idea, but I’m going along because I’m not too familiar with the place.’’ My eyes travel over her body, and they bring back the memory of the heated moment we shared at my grandparents' house. She doesn’t seem affected by it and if I don’t know better, I would say she doesn’t care much about it. She behaves as if nothing had happened, while I get hard every time I think about almost taking her virgin body. ‘’Anyway, bye.’’
As I sit there, I can’t seem to get my mind to focus on what is happening now. My mind keeps going back to Sabrina. I guess I am the one who allowed what happened just now to happen. I never set boundaries between us before. I allow her to wear what she wants because I liked it and I gave her too much privilege. Now she thinks she can do whatever she wants. Thankfully, the meeting is over quickly, and all I can do is leave my father to deal with things. He will eat my ear off later for it, but now I think I have to right my wrongs. ‘’Sabrina, in my office now.’’ When she closes the door behind her, she smiles. ‘’Did you change your mind? Was the meeting too much?’’ ‘’No, I am giving you a warning. It is about the way you are dressed and for trying to fraternize with me.’’ She gives a laugh. ‘’You can’t be serious.’’ ‘’I am,’’ I say, then produce a folder that has the sheet for her to sign. ‘’This is your first warning, you should not wear those kinds of outfits around the buildi
I hear the door opening, so I turn. Expecting it to be Georgia back with the clocks, I asked her to buy. But I see that it is no one and guess that the wind must have blown the door open. Since yesterday, the heavy gust of wind has been doing that. This is just another reason why I can’t wait for the new door to come so I can change them. I plug the sign in that is hanging over the counter and get down from the ladder to see how it looks. I smile at my handy work, proud of myself that I manage to hang up the sign and the menu all by myself. ‘And Georgia thought I needed a man to do the task.’ I think to myself. ‘’So, this is it?’’ a voice asks. I turn around to see Sabrina smiling at me. She is dressed in even more prerogative clothing than before. Sporting extremely short shorts that show off her ass cheeks and what I'm guessing is a sports bra that has a hole in the middle to show off most of her breasts. ‘’Did Asher send you here?’’ I ask. Even though I doubt that is work att
