TWENTY

It had been three days since my fight with Tony and I sat in my room, staring at my textbook. Veronica left that day for she had classes in the morning. I had not seen Tony and I was grateful for that. Fortunately, Tony hadn't pressed any charges against me.

 After all that happened, I promised myself not to engage in such a thing again. Tony wasn't worth my attention, I told me. He had done more harm than good to me and so I sought to avoid him.

My mum had called earlier to ensure I was okay. She was very happy that I had a girlfriend and she invited us for a dinner at home during the weekend. Veronica had been tensed ever since she heard the news. She felt my parents wouldn't like her; she was scared to go. I  tried my best to calm her down by ensuring her that there was nothing to be worried about.
