Her only sin was having a killer body and innocent face which made the dreaded mafia lord, Lord Cassano obsessed with her. Shaking him off was impossible, he was everywhere. And he must have her, whether she liked it or not. It doesn't matter if he needed to cripple her boyfriend, or threaten her with the lives of her parents to make it happen. All he knew was that Aurora was his, and he was determined to keep her, no matter the cost or consequence. **** “Is this what you call love? You psycho! Every other day, I get kidnapped or threatened by your rivals and numerous enemies, get caught in a gun fire and witness your brutality. You have taken away my freedom and molded me into something I don't recognize. Yes, money is good. But this is not the kind of life I want for myself. I can't bear the curse of being your woman, set me free.” I roared, my eyes blazing with fury. I was past caring at this point, I can't survive this mad man. He hated being challenged, he might as well kill me. But to my surprise, psycho cupped my face and placed his forehead on mine with the most tender expression I have ever seen in his eyes. “I'm sorry, baby love. You have underestimated the degree of my selfishness. I will never let you go—unless you kill me.”

“Look at that girl, she's pretty, isn't she?” Alex asks, tapping me. I roll my eyes and look up to humor him, expecting to see another of his strippers or pole dancers. But instead, my eyes see an angel. She’s dressed in white shorts, black tank top and white jacket. Her little feet are encased in block heels, and she’s currently sitting at the bar with a group of friends.
Even though I'm seated a bit far from her, I can see her clearly. She's like a star, drawing all the lights to herself. The girl is a bit tall, with a perfect figure that kills. Even that jacket can't hide the beauty underneath. Her hair is auburn colored, and her face looks so beautiful, like something straight out of a fairytale.
I have seen my share of beautiful women, but this one before me is on a different level. Maybe, it's the aura of innocence around her.
She looks young, probably around nineteen or twenty. She can't be younger than that, she's definitely an adult. Otherwise the guards wouldn't have let her in.
The angel looks around uncomfortably, obviously not satisfied with the things around her. I feel like covering her eyes to stop her from seeing the debauchery going on in the club. The ridiculous thought immediately surprises me. When have I, Leonardo Cassano, ever cared about a woman?
The two girls around her keep shaking her arm, forcing her to drink alcohol. She makes a face at the first glass, obviously not impressed with the taste. However, they didn't stop, making her take glass after glass of alcohol as if they wanted to get her drunk. Even after she refused, they still managed to make her drink some more.
I'm seated too far to hear what they told her to make her take another glass, but I do see the secret smirk one of the girls and a boy in their group shared.
“What do you think?” Alex asks again and winks at me.
“Wrong crowd.” I whisper, and go back to my whiskey.
“She looks like this is her first time in a club, and she's incredibly young too. Just another idiot about to be led astray by her friends. I bet my fortune that she's a college student.” Jake, one of my buddies and a member of our bikers club, says, relaxing back on the sofa.
Everyone sitting beside me has a powerful family behind them, or is a member of my bikers club. However, I'm the only one with deep connections to the mafia, doing dirty business, while covering it up with my legal empire.
I ignore their discussion as they joke among themselves; I have never been one for much talk. Compared to listening to their lewd jokes about blonde haired bimbos, and foolish brunette chics entangling themselves in shit masked as a young heir, or some latest acquisition and sports car, staring at the girl is far more interesting.
I can't remember the last time a woman who is not an elimination target caught my attention. So, I must take my time with the little rabbit before me.
At that moment, she pushes away the hands trying to grab her. Most of her friends, or rather companions had gone to the dance floor. A middle aged man tries to touch her but she shoves him away, saying something along the lines of ‘I'm not the kind of girl you're looking for.’
“Hey, Lord Cassano. Your subordinate has been trying to get your attention.” Alex whisper, tapping my hand. He's probably the only one that dares to touch me.
I turn to see Jasper, my left lieutenant standing behind me. I don't even notice him coming in.
“Lord Cassano, the goods are ready. It's time to carry out the transaction.” He whispers, bending closer to my ear.
“Then carry on with discretion. I'm not coming, handle it carefully.” I reply nonchalantly, reverting my eyes to the girl.
“Ah? Yes boss. I will handle it as normal.” He quickly replies and leaves.
“Cassano, what transaction are you making by this time of the night? Are you still doing shady deals? I thought you minimized the rate at which you washed your hands in blood after leaving your father.” Jake says, turning to me.
I notice the look of horror on Alex's face, probably fearing for Jake's life. Although I’m ruthless, I always allow members of the bikers club to hang out with me, making them get complacent with time, thinking that the rules that applies to the rest of the world no longer applies to them.
I smirk and shake the glass in my hands.
“If you're that curious just follow Jasper and see for yourself.”
I see him shiver from my side vision, making me scoff.
“No, no, thanks. I would rather not see something that would get me killed. I'm not curious at all, you guys should carry on with your business.” Jake quickly says, and shifts away from me.
“Jake, that was a stupid thing to say. Which one of us has not dabbled in something bloody at one time or another? Talk more of Lord Cassano. It's lucky he still sees us as brothers. Otherwise, you will have gotten what your nosy self deserves.” Nolan the quiet one says, finally breaking his silence. Apparently, the brunette who was giving him a blow job a while ago was done, letting him step out from behind the curtain and return to the couch.
A girl working in the club as a waitress notices the man harassing the drunk little girl and immediately scares him away, probably threatening him with getting blacklisted. No one wants to be blacklisted from Serene heights. It’s not just a perfect place for socialization, many people come here to seek out contracts. With lots of public figures and young masters hanging out in the private longues, an ambitious corporate worker just needs to camp out at a strategic location and wait for his target to show up. Most times, people tend to award contracts when in an alcohol and sex induced good mood. Foolish people.
I keep watching the girl, not diverting my attention for even a second. Suddenly, a young man from their group looks around sneakily, to make sure no one is looking, and drags the girl away.
Before I can understand what was happening, I have already gotten to my feet in pursuit of the scumbag. This instinctive desire to protect someone is strange. However, I don't have the time to think about it, nor to listen to Alex calling me back. That boy couldn't have had a good intention.
AURORA’S POVI look at Leonardo who is sitting at the other edge as the car sped towards the hospital. He suddenly smiles as if he thought of something funny, looking out the window, and this time, the smile is genuine and unintentional. “Psycho, why are you here?” I ask, putting on what I hoped was an intimidating no-nonsense expression. He turns to me, no longer smiling. “What's with your attitude? Is this the gratitude you are meant to show your savior?”“Answer me.”He ignored me and reached for his phone, treating my words like air. I huff in anger and turn the other way. After a while, I hear him chuckle and turn. “I heard the little bunny was getting married and rushed to stop the wedding. Who knew that the doomed wedding would stop of its own accord? Hahahaha.” Leonardo utters, his lips curling up in that annoying smirk that made it obvious he was mocking me. I roll my eyes, hiss, and turn away. He can insult me all he wants, I deserve it. “You actually thought a weddin
AURORA’S POVI rush to my father, taking his hand to check his pulse. I breathe out a sigh of relief when I feel his pulse. However it's very weak, far from steady. I quickly turn to the crowd to see if anyone can help us move him. However, dad's colleagues are nowhere to be found. They probably left when things got noisy. The ones remaining are gossipy neighbors and relatives, and those have no car. The rest were from William’s side, and I don't know any of them. “Rose? Where is she?” I shout, turning to mom. “Her boss's assistant arrived earlier than expected, she left when your dad was walking you down the aisle.” Mom replies with tears in her eyes. The boos from the crowd, laughing at me and telling me I killed my father make me feel like trash and I blink back tears, gritting my teeth to hold back the painful emotions. I quickly reach for my purse to order a ride. “There are fifteen orders ahead of you, you will be placed on queue. The wait duration is thirty minutes.” The a
AURORA’S POV“William, what are you doing? Let her go!” My father shouts, rushing to separate us. William pushes me to him and dad quickly catches me. “William, I always thought you were a good child and supported my daughter's relationship with you. I never imagined that you are the kind of man that will raise your hands against a woman.” My dad whispers, not hiding the pain and disappointment in his heart. My mom also rushes to me. “Son, it's fine if you're angry with her. But is there a need to humiliate her like this? If you quarrelled with her, there's also a chance to settle things. If you fell out of love, you could have cancelled the wedding before today. If you suddenly realized at the altar that you were not ready, respectfully declining would have been okay too. But why did you choose the most painful way to humiliate our daughter? Yes, we're not from the same class. But we have never hidden our financial capabilities from you, we don't live fake life. Nor are we beggars
AURORA’S POV“Why isn't he here yet? How long does it take for a man to dress up and enter the damn car?” Rosa asks, pacing around. “Stop pacing. Why do you look even more worried than I, the bride?” I reply, pretending not to be affected. Mom and dad are looking very worried, Rosa my cousin isn't doing anything to hide her anxiety. I was also uncomfortable, knowing that William is already two hours late to such an important event. Is he bailing on me? I sigh and turn to my dad“His parents are already here and greeted the guests with you two. Something must be delaying him and his friends. Just instruct the caterers to entertain the guest. And also tell the guests that they were held up by an emergency and will soon be here.” I say calmly, trying to take control of the issue. Deep inside of me, I'm also nervous. But a tiny part of me is relieved that he didn't show up. Enduring the shame of the wedding not going through will pass away, but not that of a failed marriage. Rosa's ph
AURORA'S POVI think I'm mesmerized by the sight of him. It seems as if I just summoned a demon from hell to fight my battles. I hate the sight of blood, but at this moment, I can't help but cry in relief as I see the blood staining his hands. Knowing that it belongs to the beasts who wanted to devour me. He throws the thug away and he hits the wall convulsing. His men who were chasing after him finally catch up and fall on the thugs, giving them the beating of their lives. The sound of crushing bones suddenly doesn't feel offensive to me, I like it even. Leonardo pulls me into his arms and I break down, bawling like a baby and letting out all the tears, fears and resentment in my heart. I forget my animosity towards him and hug him tightly, crying my eyes out as he pats my back, whispering soft words of comfort that I'm really not paying any attention to. “My baby, sweetheart, don't cry, you break my heart. Shush, I will make them suffer a pain worse than death for having such tho
AURORA BRADLEY’S POVIn the past, whenever I saw William happy, I instinctively felt happy for him too. But not this time. I feel so disappointed that he was more interested in the contract than in my well-being. “William.” My voice finally attracts his attention, for he clears his throat and looks at me. But the way he's looking at me is different from the past, there's almost a hint of disdain. “Mmm. You did well. Good job. Let's go.” He says in brief sentences and quickly turns around, holding the contract like some treasure. I follow him not wanting to be left behind. “Disgusting. He's willing to betray his girlfriend for money. He doesn't know that the boss hates people like him the most. The idiot will learn the hard way.”“Poor girl, such a beautiful gem ended up in the hands of a pig.” I heard the guards whisper. At once, tears cloud my eyes and I begin to feel sorry for myself. Even the guards witnessed my humiliation, where will I put my face?****I just opened the fro
