Akira's POV

I stood frozen amidst the crowd, the faint laughter of mockery echoing in my ears.

My eyes shut close as the cold liquid seeped into my clothes.

I almost broke into tears, held back only by my mum's reminder: always be a strong girl.

“Milkshake woman,” a girl laughed.

I wanted to move but I couldn't; my legs failed me.

“You know what milky, go and cry behind the lockers,” my tormentor said to me. His sea blue eyes scanned me with a satisfactory grin playing on his face.

My legs dragged on the floor as I faded from their presence. I went behind the lockers to cry like he predicted.

Did I deserve to be treated like this?

I removed my glasses and wiped off the droplets of milkshake that threatened to blur my vision. I put them back on, forcing a bitter smile on my face.

I felt better after a few minutes, but I was still drenched in milkshakes and feeling sticky all over.

No way I’d attend class like this! I detest missing classes, now he'd be the reason I was missing one.

While I paced around thinking of a way out of my minor situation, a pair of hands appeared with clean clothes.

“Take this,” she said with a warm smile.

“Thank you.” I took the clothes from her. Our eyes locked, I wanted to take off my clothes but I was a little uncomfortable. She noticed and she turned around. I changed into the clothes immediately.

“Why are you helping me?” I couldn't help but ask.

“What Kael did to you was unfair.”

No one ever sees that around here, Kael is a billionaire heir. Everyone abides by his rules.

Besides, I was the one who made the mistake, I brought him the wrong milkshake, he got pissed so he downed it on me. That's typical Kael, I was used to it.

“Maybe. Thank you,” I thanked her once again.

“You are welcome, now head on to class.”

I nodded to her and I sprinted off to class. I was late, but glad I made it.

After the short lecture, I strolled to my locker. I caught the principal watching me from the hallway window. My stomach dipped.

“You, report to my office now.” Her voice was firm.

I hope I didn't get into trouble, that was a thing I have always avoided because I didn't want to taint my school records.

I ran straight to her office.

“You called for me ma'am,” my voice was shaky, enough to show my uneasiness.

Her office was filled with an air of authority, awards and medals hung on the walls perfectly. Various maps and landscape paintings showed her enthusiasm for explorations.

The school's badge hanging boldly behind her seat proved that she is ever so loyal to Underwich Academy.

“Yes you, Akira Owens,” she affirmed. “Have a seat.”

I sat at her command. She doesn't seem mad. She probably has something important to say.

“You know Kael Blackwood right?”

The sound of his name sent shivers down my spine. Of course! Everyone knew Kael.

I nodded in response.

“Good. You would have to be his tutor for a while,” she dropped a bombshell.

Tutor? Kael? The two words weren't supposed to be in the same sentence.

“Ma'am?” I called, wanting to confirm if she meant what she just said.

She inhaled a little before speaking. “The Blackwoods came here this morning. Kael's grade is dropping. His parents want him to get into MIT, they need a good tutor for him. And you are the only one in the right position to tutor him.”

“Can't they find another person to tutor him?” I couldn't help but ask.

It doesn't have to be me. I would gladly tutor anyone else in the world besides Kael.

“You know… Kael can be a handful sometimes, he drove them away. The suggestion now is: someone around his age.”

I stared at my feet, with no words to say. Kael had been everything but nice to me, he didn't deserve my sympathy, but I do not want to be the reason he doesn't get into MIT. He might be a jerk, but everyone deserves a little pity.

Will Kael even accept to be tutored by me?

“Akira,” she called, “You'd be paid $5000 per month for 5 months.”

$5000? That's a salary for a full time job. Tutoring is only a per time.

“I'd tutor him,” I didn't know how the words slipped out of my mouth.

My brain already calculated that the money would easily add up to my savings for college.

“Good.”

I found a way back to my home, despite my head being in a mess since I left the principal’s office.

‘Tutor Kael’ The words replayed continuously inside my head.

The worst thing was that; the tutoring begins today. I picked up my lazy ass, fixed my oversized glasses, gathered some textbooks and marched right to Kael's house.

I was very familiar with Kael’s house; it was only a few blocks away, yet my heart weighed heavily.

When I got to his door, I clenched my fist, saying silent prayers in my head, trying to muster up enough courage to ring his doorbell.

Before I could, he opened up the door making me startle a little.

“Milky?” he called, like it was my actual name.

He was dressed in his jersey, looking deadly hot as always, and holding onto his hockey stick like it was his favorite thing to do, and it also seemed like he was on his way out.

“Hey… Kael,” I stuttered.

He stared at me with questioning eyes. Like I was a person who lost her way. “I don't think I have any pending homeworks for you to do.”

“I actually… I…” the words felt stiff inside my throat.

“I am your new tutor,” I broke the news to him.

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 8: A little Makeover

Akira's POVKael is going insane, his demands are getting out of hand. Is it a must that I attend the party with him? He can go alone, or he should find another girl to go with him. I am not pretty and I am very inexperienced when it comes to parties. I guess he just wants a person he can control; someone who he can order around. It was almost time for the party already, I had nothing good to wear. I found myself a plain knee length yellow dress to wear. The dress hung freely on my body.I knew I would be the least dressed at the party, but that didn't bother me, so I marched to Kael's house.Kael opened up the door for me at the second knock, he must have been expecting me. His eyes scan through my dressing and he looked a little disappointed. But he was dressed nicely though, he wore a plain white T-shirt and a matching denim jacket and trousers, his hair was done in a new style which highlighted his perfectly structured face.I looked like a rag beside him.“Damn Milky, come with m

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 7: Invitation To A Party

Kael's POVI laid on my bed tiredly, my wrists hurt a little from practice and trying to impress Milky, but I impressed her though. My parents made the best decision by hiring Milky to be my tutor. At least they did one thing right for me, I could easily make her do my biddings, my previous tutors were assholes.I took out my Maths notebook and I did my homework by myself- for the first time ever. Since Milky already taught me the topic, I decided to give it a try and I do not want to bother her too much. I already wasted her time by making her watch me practice. My phone beeped beside me, I got a message. I checked it quickly. It was an invitation to Adrienne’s birthday party.Attending Adrienne’s birthday party is fine by me, but I had a little problem, it says- come with a friend, I don't have any friends aside Adrienne; he is the birthday boy, so who do I bring along to the party? My mind wandered to the person that would go with me without a choice- Milky. I would make her accomp

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 6: Hockey Lesson

Akira's POVI halted at the front of the ice hockey ring, the sound seemed to be coming from there. I mumbled to myself softly, before opening the door to the ring.Someone was in there, he was on the ice, practicing shots. His jet black hair made it impossible for me not to recognize him. I coughed nervously, calling to his attention. He turned to me, his eyes portraying surprise. It was Kael, who else could it be? Why the hell is he practicing alone after closing hours? Did he get trapped like me too?“Milky? Why are you here?” he asked.“I got locked in,” I said. He stared at me in disbelief.“I was reading at the library when the school bell rang. I wasn't aware so I got locked in,” I clarified.“And the Librarian couldn't usher you out?”“He probably did know I was still there, I usually sit at a corner which makes it hard for people to find me there.”“That's your problem then,” he turned away from me and continued with what he was doing.“Why…why are you in here?”“Practicing.”

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 5: Locked In

Akira's POVI was really glad that I'll get to tutor Kael today. I knew he would be mean to me, but at least I'll get to do my job.I sat on the couch, waiting patiently for Kael to descend down the stairs and hoping he wouldn't act like he did the previous day.Kael being true to his words, he came down with books and textbooks. My face brightened up a little.“Looks like you are happy to see me,” he teased.“No I'm not.”“Let’s get to business then,” he dropped the books on the table and sat beside me.This was the first time we sat so close to one another, and the feeling was kind of weird.“So, we are starting with Matrices,” I took out a textbook and opened a page.“Alright.”He watched me closely, paying attention to my teachings. The feeling of his gaze on me was a little off, but I adjusted to it.Surprisingly, tutoring Kael was easier than I expected it to be. He easily understood even before I finished my explanationsI flipped to another section of the textbook.“Okay, let'

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 4: The Drive Home

Akira's POVThe game was getting tense, it was the second period already. And I was starting to understand the game a little. The Northernways already scored, while we were on nothing. They were very aggressive and they didn't play by the rules, Kael counterattacked them with as much force. He snatched the puck from a Northernway player and passed it to his teammate at the blue line. The dude took off in a flash, he pulled back his stick and shot at the goalie. The audience exploded, and I did too, just that I wanted the goal to be scored by Kael. The Underwich players gave victory poses; displaying on the ice. Kael looked up at the crowd: in my direction, our eyes met. He was caught unaware, a smile flashed across his face for a second, before disappearing. Did I see that correctly? Kael rarely smiled. The game continued, players on both sides struggled with the puck.In a short while, the horn blared, it was the second intermission— I think. The players got out of the ice, they prob

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 3: Attend My Game Tonight

Akira's POVLogically, it's wrong for a tutor to help her student do his homework. I should be teaching him how to do it instead. And that was the problem, Kael didn't want to learn.I didn't do his homework for him. I planned to teach him how to do it. What if he gets enraged and goes all visceral on me? Then I am fried.I took clumsy steps towards his block.“Are you done with it?” Kael's voice made me yank a little. He was taking some stuff from a car in the driveway.I couldn't respond. He would…“Can't you speak?”“Actually… Kael… I… I think it's best for us to work on the assignment together,” I choked on my words.“You think you can order me around,” he left what he was doing and moved closer to me. My heartbeat fastened at every step he took.“I… I… am not,”I always find it hard to speak around him. It’s like the words in my head disappear and I was just learning about them.“Sit, and do it now!” He ordered.I wouldn't dare defile him. I gently sat on his porch and started do
