Akira's POV

His eyes flashed something between disbelief and amusement.

“No you're not.”

He wasn't told? Now how do I explain this to him?

“I am your…”

“Get out of my way,” he brushed past me, not giving me a chance to speak.

“Kael… Kael…” I called but he had already walked away.

Now what do I do? This would be fucking harder than I expected.

I sat at his doorstep and waited for him to return, using the time to finish up with my homework.

“You? Why are you still here?” He asked as he walked in.

It took what felt like three hours or more for him to get back. It was already dark.

“Like I said earlier… I am your tutor, your parents hired me to tutor you so you could pass the upcoming final exams,” I explained.

“Well… It's late already.” He walked in, leaving me outside.

I packed up my books and left. Day one was definitely a failure. Kael didn't even give me a chance. How was this even gonna work?

Walking into my home, I was met with a thick aroma coming from the kitchen, it awakened my senses. Mum was back!

“Hey darling, where did you go off to?” She asked.

I wasn’t sure about telling her the truth yet. I don't know if this alliance with Kael would ever work out.

“Doing homework with my classmate,” I lied.

Disappointment washed over me. I shouldn't be lying to my mother.

“Okay sweetie, dinner is almost ready,” she said with a sweet smile. A smile that I knew wasn't true. Deep down that pretentious smile was a woman carrying the burden of a whole nation on her shoulders.

I smiled back at her and proceeded to drop my books in the room. I had a little shower before I settled down for a meal, just like she taught me to always do.

The next day at school, Kael was nowhere to be found. Not that I was actually looking for him, he just didn't bully me like he always did. Normally, by this time of the day, he would have sent me on an errand or two, and if I didn't comply, I'd face severe consequences.

I should be feeling relieved right? Kael wasn't ordering me around today, he didn't even cross paths with me.

But I wanted to see him, I needed to finalize yesterday's discussion with him.

Time at school flew faster than expected, now I was at his doorstep again, ringing his doorbell.

He opened up after about 10 mins. He didn't look surprised to see me unlike yesterday.

His hair was in a gorgeous mess, his eyelids found it hard to stay open, his shirt a little ruffled, but he still looked hot. His appearance mostly says: I interrupted his sleep.

“Hey Kael,” I said after a few seconds of silence.

He released his grip on the door and he walked in, I followed behind him and closed the door.

Kael was very rude, and that's his special way of saying ‘come in.’ But it’s sort of an improvement, compared to yesterday — today he let me in. He wore a softer expression than yesterday too. Seems like someone had knocked some sense into his head. Well… it's good for me, it would make my job a lot easier.

“Let's make this clear,” he turned to me. “You are my tutor for the time being, our relationship at school doesn't change. If I ever hear a word of this at school, you're toast.”

Relationship at school?

He means bullying me, while I obediently do his biddings because I have a pathetic life.

I took that as a threat more than a warning. I knew he was capable of doing terrible things.

“Understood.”

“Good,” he turned away from me and he ascended the stairs. He could have said: ‘I will be back soon Milky’.

Who was I kidding? He doesn't regard me in any way. And right now, I was nothing more than an obstacle he needed to get out of his way.

I sat and waited for him for minutes, till something in my head told me he wasn't coming back anytime soon.

So this was it? He'd just let me sit here and waste my time. He could at least behave a little more mature.

“Kael?... This… Kael…”

I got no response. I decided to take my leave.

I made a mental note to report the issue to the principal at school tomorrow. I am no longer interested in tutoring Kael, he isn't interested in getting tutored by me.

************

Standing beside my locker, I spotted the girl from the other day amidst the hallway, she didn't see me. I wanted to call out to her, unfortunately I do not know her name.

I had to return the clothes she gave me back. I waved at her, she turned abruptly, our eyes locked.

I grinned a little as she approached me.

“Hi.”

“I have been trying to reach you, thanks for the other day,” I opened my locker and brought out the clothes.

I made sure to wash them clean.

“No problem, you can keep them,” she smiled.

“It's your clothes.”

“No, you keep it.”

“Camila…” A black girl called from behind us, she was calling the girl. Her name was Camila.

“Bye, see you around sometime,” Camila said walking over to her friend.

“Thanks,” I waved at her.

I returned the clothes back to my locker.

“This would come in handy,” I muttered under my breath.

“You, come with me,” a deep voice said — one which I recognized like the back of my palm.

I followed him to wherever it was he was taking me to. And that was behind the lockers.

“Look… What happened yesterday…” he seemed to be out of words.

Was he trying to explain himself to me?

“It's fine, I don't want to tutor you anymore.” I looked down at my feet.

“Shut up… Take these books, deliver them to my house after school,” he handed me

his homework.

Here I was, thinking he wanted to apologize to me. It's still the same Kael, why was I getting my hopes up?

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 85: The Truth Waiting To Surface

Akira’s POV I couldn't stop smiling. Maybe it was because Justin had been reinstated on the hockey team, maybe it was because things between us had become so easy lately. Or maybe it was simply because I was in love. I sat beside Justin during lunch, my shoulder pressed against his as we shared a sandwich. “You're eating my food again,” he complained. I looked at him innocently. “Your food tastes better.” “You said that yesterday.” “And I'll say it tomorrow.” He laughed and shook his head. I smiled at him. There was something about the way Justin looked at me lately. His eyes always seemed softer whenever we were alone. “You're staring,” I whispered. “So?” “So it's embarrassing.” “I don't care.” I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop smiling. Justin reached underneath the table and took my hand. “I'm glad I'm back on the team,” he said. “Me too.” “Mostly because I get to see you waiting for me after practice.” I laughed softly. “You're so cheesy.” “And you love it.” I lo

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 84: One More Chance

Kael's POV “Justin?” I stared at Coach. He nodded. “Justin.” “But why?” Coach sighed and handed me the paper. “He isn't being removed permanently.” I looked at him, confused. “Then what is this?” “His grades.” I blinked. “His grades?” “Yes. His chemistry grade dropped badly, and the school has a policy. Any student-athlete whose grades fall below the required level has to sit out until he gets back on track.” I looked at the list again. “So he can't play in the championship?” “Not unless he fixes it.” My heart sank. The championship was only weeks away. “Coach, Justin has been working hard.” “I know.” “He's one of our best players.” “I know that too.” Coach sighed. “But rules are rules.” I nodded slowly. “Can he get back on the team?” “Yes.” “How?” “He needs to improve his grade and pass the next assessment.” I smiled. “Then he'll be back.” Coach gave me a small smile. “That depends on him.” I folded the paper. “I'll talk to him.” “Good.” As I walked away, I couldn'

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 83: Just One More Day

Camila's POVThe room went quiet after Dad asked the question.“Who is Adrienne?”I swallowed. I hadn't meant to say his name. “I... I was talking about someone at school.” Mom looked at me for a moment before smiling softly.“Your father isn't asking because he's angry, sweetheart.” Dad sighed. “We're not trying to pressure you.”I looked at him. “Then why are you talking about marriage already?” “You're still in school,” he said. “Nobody is asking you to get married tomorrow.”I blinked. “Then what is this?” Mom lifted the envelope.“It's simply an invitation. His family wants both families to have dinner sometime this weekend.” I stared at it.“That's all?” “That’s all.” Dad nodded.“We thought it would be nice for you to meet him properly. Nothing is decided.” I released a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding.“So I can say no?” “Yes.” Dad's answer came immediately. “If you meet him and you don't like him, you don't have to continue anything.”I looked at Mom. She nodded.“You

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 82: The Arrangement

Camila's POVI stood outside the house for almost a minute before I finally opened the door. My mother's words were still ringing in my head.We need to talk tonight. I already knew what the conversation was about. The arrangement. I walked into the living room.Mom was sitting on the couch, and Dad was beside her. The moment I saw them together, my stomach tightened.“Camila,” Dad said. “Hi.” “Come and sit.” I slowly sat across from them. Mom reached for my hand. “We've been discussing your future.” I swallowed.“My future?” “Yes.” Dad leaned forward.“You're old enough to understand that some decisions cannot be left until the last minute.” I nodded slowly. “What decision?” Mom exchanged a glance with Dad.Then she smiled. “We've found someone suitable for you.” My heart sank. I looked down at my hands.“Mom…” “Please listen first.” “I know what you're going to say.” Dad frowned. “You don't know anything yet.”“Yes, I do.” I looked up. “You want me to marry someone.”Silence.Mom si

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 81: What She Couldn't Say

Adrienne's POVI stared at Camila's message for what felt like forever. I'm scared of what will happen if you find out.My first instinct was to call her, my second was to ask what she was talking about. But I remembered her other message. Please don't ask me about it tomorrow. So I didn't. I simply typed: You don't have to tell me anything you're not ready to say.I watched the typing bubble appear. Disappear. Appear again. Then her reply came. Thank you.I smiled faintly. Whatever she was hiding, I wasn't going to force it out of her. If it took time, I'd give her time. If she needed space, I'd give her space. But I wasn't giving up on her, not yet.>>>>>>>>Camila's POVI put my phone down and stared at the ceiling. I shouldn't have sent that message. Now Adrienne would be curious. He'd start asking questions. And eventually, he'd discover everything.I closed my eyes. My parents had always planned my future. They had always told me what was best.Who I should associate with, what

  • A Tutor For My Bully    Chapter 80: Something About Her

Adrienne's POVI don't know when it started. Maybe it was the way Camila laughed whenever someone said something stupid, maybe it was the way she always pushed her hair behind her ear whenever she was concentrating. Or maybe it was the way she somehow made even the most boring school mornings feel less boring.Whatever it was… I was in trouble.I sat at the back of the classroom, pretending to read my notes while watching Camila across the room. She was talking to Akira. She laughed. And I smiled without even realizing it.“You're staring.”I nearly jumped. Kael dropped into the seat beside me.“I wasn't.” He followed my gaze, then he looked back at me.“Oh.” I frowned. “What?” He grinned.“You're staring at Camila.” “I am not.” “You absolutely are.” I looked down at my notebook.“I'm just looking around.” “Right.” He leaned closer. “Should I call her for you?” “No.”“Why not?” “Because there's nothing to call her for.” He laughed.“Adrienne.” “What?” “You like her.” I rolled my eyes.
