Aria's POV

"She is awake!"

I slowly flutter my eyes open, bright fluorescent light shines from the corner of the room, almost blinding my eyes. I gulp a lump down my throat, my mind is disorientated as several people dressed in white coats rush towards me.

The sterile smell of the hospital and the sound of beeping machines makes my heart to race extremely fast.

The doctors kept mumbling words to each other whereas my focus remains on leaving the hospital, I try to sit up but I feel a sharp pain in my head causing me to wince in agony and fall back to the pillow.

As I lay there, their faces begin to blur as they run tests and check my vital signs. My confusion deepens as I try to recall how I got here in the first place.

Once the medical team confirm that I am okay, a kind face woman with a warm smile plastered on her face walks into the room. She freezes in front of me and questions "How are you feeling?" She asks. I want to tell her that I am confused, tired, uncomfortable but instead I just reply in a low tone. "I am okay." My voice is hoarse and barely above a whisper.

The lady nods her head in agreement, she fetches a notepad and a pen from the pockets of her coat. She leans closer to me and pushes further. "What about your name? Can you tell me your name and what happened? How did you get here?" She asks.

I raise a brow at her. Is she kidding me now? She is the doctor here, she should be the one to tell me how I got here because I do not remember a single thing, last I remember is that I got an offer to become a graphic designer at a very prestigious company. I do not remember anything else.

"Calm down Miss. I just want to understand how you are feeling so that I know what next step should be taken." The lady explains, her gaze does not leave me for once.

I clear my throat and reply "i do not remember how I got here. My name is Aria, but I do not remember what happened to me. Last I remember is getting a big offer." I say.

The doctor nods her head slowly. She offers me a gentle smile and speaks in a soft tone. "That is alright Aria. You have been in a coma for some while. It is not uncommon for patients to experience memory loss." She says.

Coma? My eyes widen and my jaw drops in shock. For how long have I been in a coma? Also, I have memory loss? How much do I not remember?

"What year is this?" I ask, my heart begins to race extremely fast. The doctor sighs heavily and points to the calendar on the bedside table. My eyes widen in surprise, 2024? I release a loud gasp as I slowly realize that I have been in a coma for two years. I remember getting an offer and that was in the year 2022. Does that mean two years have passed by since then?

"Do not worry Miss Aria. You will be fine and you will recover your memories in no time." The doctor smiles at me.

"What about my family?" I pause to run a hand through my hair in frustration. "Ava? My adoptive parents ? What about them?" I ask.

The doctor shrugs in response. "Someone brought you here but no one has visited since then. Although all your bills have been covered and paid for. I think you should find a way to reach out to your family." She says.

I gaze around and there is no sight of my phone. I gulp a lump down my throat. How will I reach Ava and my adoptive parents if I do not have a phone anymore.

The doctor looks like she is about to say something but someone barges into our room. She looks much younger and I notice how her body fidgets as she bows her head to the doctor. "Sorry to interrupt doctor Jenna but your friend, Mr Damon is here to see you for his therapy session." The staff says.

Doctor Jenna turns to me with a small smile. "Take your time in recovering Aria, we will find a way to reach out to your family." With that, she turns around and walks out of the room leaving me to wallow in my own thoughts.

Coma? Memory loss? Ava? My adoptive parents ? What has happened throughout those past two years?

I feel fear, panic and disorientation take over me. Without hesitation, I make a split-second decision. I must leave this hospital and return back home to Ava and my adoptive parents .

I still remember the address and how the house looks like. They must be there, probably waiting for me to wake up and return back home. I hastily throw off the hospital blankets and make a rush for the door.

I slowly tiptoe into the hospital corridors and try my best to blend in with the other patients in the hospital.

As I burst through the hospital entrance with so much adrenaline and excitement, I almost get hit by a black convertible moving in full speed. The driver hastily slams the brake causing the car to halt in motion. I freeze on that spot, my heart racing extremely fast.

I shut my eyes close for a brief moment and when I finally snap my eyes open, a brown haired man with piercing hazel eyes jump out of the car and rush towards me.

"Hey, watch...." He immediately stops talking the moment we lock gazes with each other. I watch his expression change into one of shock. His mouth opens wide and his jaw drops as he calls out a familiar name. "Ava?"

That is my twin sister, not me. But on a more important note. Who is he and how does he know Ava?
