ROSA'S POV.
For days, after I was unceremoniously sent out of the Ferrari mansion, I had been at my maternal cousin; Agatha's place. I was finally pulled out of my hiding place, when I saw the recent news flying everywhere on the internet. My father had officially announced my marriage to Marco Russo without my consent. As I walked into the living room, my father looked up at me in disappointment. Very much expected. "The prodigal daughter finally returns home." Alina dramatically clapped, and I watched in silence as my stepsister; Laura, glared at me. "You published news of my marriage to Marco?" I found the courage to speak, my heart beating so fast. This was the first time I was standing up to them about anything. "That's because you are getting married to him." Alina nodded, standing from where she had been sitting. "I will not... marry him." I muttered, looking down. My head suddenly flung to the side, under the impact of her palm. She had slapped me, and it hurt so bad. I held my cheek immediately, rubbing on it to reduce how much it stung, while my father just remained on his seat, acting like I didn't just get hit by his wife. This was not the first time she was hitting me, but it was definitely the first time he was watching her do so. Couldn't he stand up for me? Didn't I deserve that much?! Painful tears stung my eyes, when I saw Laura smiling to herself. "11 years ago, when my husband brought home his bastard daughter, unlike every other wife, I accepted you in my home. Your junkie mother never cared about or wanted you, but I....." "You never cared for, or wanted me either." I blandly cut her off, making her eyes go wide in shock. The tears in my eyes threatened to drop, but then and there, I vowed never to let her see me weak again. "How dare you speak to my wife that......" My father was still speaking, when I cut him off. "So what do I stand to gain?" I asked. "Huh?" He scowled. "You hate me. You have never regarded or treated me as your daughter. You make me feel privileged for every single thing you have done for me. I never chose to be born by you, neither did I make you cheat on your wife. But you have only ever treated me with disdain. I have nothing to gain from this marriage, so I wouldn't go ahead with it." I finished, looking him in the eyes. I had made the tough decision, and I knew what that meant. I may no longer answer the Collombo family name, after today. But I was ready. My mind was made. I wouldn't let them shove me around anymore, all for that one surname. Everywhere was silent for a while, and I figured they were all trying to get over their shock. They would have never believed I would ever have the guts to do such. "Oh?" He eventually let out a dark chuckle. "You've suddenly grown guts, huh?" He asked. "Who gave them to you? That Ferrari lady you hang around?" "I have lost my only friend, because of you both!" I burst out, the tears seriously threatening to drop from my eyes. "I see that her brother has gotten news of your engagement to Marco." He chuckled, making my heart twist painfully. "Since you so badly want Russo's vote, why not let him marry Laura? She's your daughter too, not so?" I challenged. I had least expected he would give me a second slap on the other side of my face. But he did. "Only if she were as worthless as you are." Came his response, and the tears eventually fell from my eyes. I couldn't believe he'd actually say that to me. I always knew he had felt that way, but saying it was a totally different thing. "Yesterday, a call came in from the metropolis." He said. "Your shameless mother has been jailed for battery and assault against the wife of one of her numerous boyfriends. Asides that, some hard drugs were found in her possession. I'm sure you would understand that better, being the very reason why I was given custody of you in the first place." "What?" I whispered. No, she didn't. "Yes, Emily." He nodded, a smirk on his face. "For the battery and assault charges, she could be bailed with a fine. Money that she most certainly doesn't have. But for possession of hard drugs, trust that your mother is going to be in jail for a minimum of six years." Oh God. "I have always saved her sorry ass, but not this time. Not if you decide to do things your own way. If you want your mother to survive this round, then you do as I say."DANTE'S POV.I strolled into Alexa's room to see her laying on her bed. She seemed to be so taken with whatever she was seeing on her phone, that she didn't notice I was in."Earth to Alexa?" I asked, and she jumped in fear. "Silly to think that anyone can hurt you in here.""That makes you silly as well, then." She shot back, and I frowned. "I mean, you are the one who always comes to my room to check up on me, first thing after you return from your trips." She shrugged. For a quick second, my mind traveled back to the most recent time I did that. I had entered her room to see something else. Or rather, someone else."I don't do that because I'm scared you aren't safe here." I corrected her, walking closer to her bed. "I do that because that's just a subconscious way of showing that you're the most important person in my life."Finally, she looked away from her phone and looked at me. A small smile made its way to her face, and I leaned closer to give her a forehead kiss. While at
EMILY'S POV."It's a beautiful morning, not so?" Marco asked, and I simply gave a nod in response. It was one week since my father coerced and blackmailed me into accepting to marry this man. Did I also mention that the wedding was only one week away? One could only imagine how shocked I was, when I learned that the wedding was only two weeks away. Now one."Come here." He suddenly pulled me to himself, his face dangerously and irritatingly close to mine. "You would be mine in a matter of days, Emily. So I suggest you begin to act accordingly. My patience is usually thin.""If you want me to act like I care about you, I never will." I spat.I endured the pain that his grip on my arm caused, and watched in satisfaction as his jaw clenched in obvious annoyance. "You're hurting me." I muttered, and he released a sigh, brushing his hand across his face. "I'm sorry." He whispered, surprising me."Are we done here?" I asked, ignoring his apology. For the past week since the announcement
DANTE'S POV "Any news yet?" I looked up from the file on my desk, to see Alexa poking her head through my door. I almost let out a groan. The girl was stressing me out, asking the very same question everyday, for the past three weeks."And yet again Alexa, no." I eventually groaned, making her giggle. "It seems you want this child more than I do.""Maybe I do. The suspense is killing meeee." She cried. "Maybe we should just call them.""Patience." I bit out. "What if this whole thing turns up unsuccessful again?""No, brother." She shook her head. "I have a strong feeling that we will be suprised this time.""We'd better be. Or who knows? I just might kill that Doctor this time around." I glared at no one in particular. "Dante, really?" Alexa shook her head in disbelief. Why was she acting like I'd actually do that?'Maybe because you have never given her a reason to think that you wouldn't', my subconscious said. Just then, a call came in and I looked at the screen to see that it
EMILY'S POV.The atmosphere in the room became thicker, and I felt smaller as my father's gaze rested on me. "Emily, it is no longer avoidable." He said, pulling me out of my train of thoughts. "What do you mean?" I muttered."There is a threat to make another major shareholder, CEO. We have worked so hard keep this company afloat, and we can't have it being snatched away from us now. The Russos have offered their assistance, and we wouldn't reject it.""You confuse me. What business do the Russos have with us or the company?""They recently bought out one of our major shareholders. As it stands, Anthonio Russo has the one vote that determines whether or not, I remain CEO.""Wh...wh...what does this mean?" I stuttered, scared where this was headed. He gave me a pointed stare, following it up with the most dreaded response. "Anthonio insists we come to an agreement. In exchange for his vote....... he wants you to marry his son."Everywhere fell silent, and my heart fell to the pit o
DANTE'S POV.As soon we arrived the airport, I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialed Vito's number. One ring, and he picked up."Don.""Tell them not to touch a hair on that bastard's body. I returned to Italy on short notice because of him. I will finish him up myself.""Yes, Don." He replied, and I ended the call.My men and I walked to the cars that had pulled up before us, and I hopped right in."Welcome back, Don." Julio, the chaffeur greeted, giving a curt nod in my direction."Thank you, Julio.""Where to?""The Mansion. I need a change of clothes." "Yes sir." He replied, before driving off. As soon as we got to the mansion, I alighted the car and made my way in. I may have ignored the red car that was parked in the lot, knowing whom it most certainly belonged to.That Collombo lady was here again.I had already gone halfway towards my room, when I halted my steps. I needed to see my sister first. As I approached her bedroom, I called out to her."Alexa? Alexa, I'm b
