CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO

Damian was in his bed when he heard a knock on his door. He wasn't expecting any one and he had already had lunch and the maids had no reason to be in his room.

The knock came again and the door creaked open. Lilian came into the room holding his book in her hands, looking quite nervous.

"Can I help you?" said Damian in a voice that was a little bit rude considering the moment he had with her a few minutes ago.

"I hmmm.... hmm...I found this in your book."

She held out the note and Damian sat up to get a good look at it. The writing on it was faint. He never kept notes, much less inside books. He stood up and walked over to her and her head dropped a little. He ignored her and took the note. The paper was old and crinkly. As he opened it, the words blazed before him.

"Never regret any decision you make."

His eyes opened wide.

"Where did you get this?"

"It was in the book."

As he thought about the note, Lilian spoke up meekly.

"Why...why are you always so hard?"
