Mom's face shifted to one of disbelief, then slowly transformed into disappointment. I could only watch as she seemed so eager to refuse, yet deep down, she understood there was nothing she could do. After Frederick sent his warriors to help Dad and Dante, we were not in a position to turn him down any longer.

"I want to speak with you alone," I said.

“Sure,” Frederick responded promptly.

Mom frowned, looking a bit concerned. But I gave her hand a quick squeeze and offered a comforting smile. After that, I followed Frederick out of the dining room.

I don't want Mom to find out what I was planning to say to this man. She wouldn't approve of my manner towards him, and I know she'd be sad if she discovered how he treated me.

"Why do you want to leave so suddenly? You mentioned that we're heading out tomorrow night. I still need to take care of some things at the hospital." I said.
