CHAPTER 34: YOU'RE BEGINNING TO LIKE HER

JORDAN:

I stared at Diana… then at my mother… then back at Diana again.

Both of them were looking at me like I owed them an explanation or some kind of emotional breakdown. Instead, all they got from me was a long, tired sigh.

I was only tolerating Diana because she was related to my late mate. If not, I would’ve put Diana in her place a long time ago. She wasn’t entitled to me. She wasn’t my responsibility. And she sure as hell wasn’t my future mate.

I didn't need a future mate.

Diana sniffled louder and held onto my mother like a child seeking pity.

My mother frowned at me and asked again. “Jordan, what did you do to her?”

I didn’t even bother answering. I just opened my mouth to tell her I was leaving when my phone vibrated.

Melvin.

Good.

This was a better use of my time.

“I’ll talk to you later,” I told my mother sharply, already turning around.

“Jordan…,” she started to call me back but I was already walking away, answering my phone.
