Kael's POV.

I stood in the midst of the council, watching everyone going back and forth yet not giving me the answers that I had been expecting from them.

Of course they were going to think that I was going to let this slide just because they had decided to prove to themselves that they could be on top of the game.

"Derivals have been trying to break into the south. What are your suggestions and what are your observations?" I demanded from them.

Heading these people had not been a walk in the park but I was really to take a chance on making sure that everything was done accordingly.

There was nothing that said that it was going to be easy but I was sure that if I put my heart to it I would be able to handle everything perfectly and have nothing to worry about anymore

"We have received reports from the South countless times but nobody has been able to give us concrete answers as to why these men have been able to get in without anybody noticing. I think that many people are involved in this and that's why." Elder Horton spoke.

He didn't sound confident in his approach and up told me that he was only just twisting things around to suit his narrative.

I had an idea but I was only going to try it out when I was sure that I had been able to get them where I wanted.

"Tell me something that I really need to hear. This is not proper news and you know that." I dismissed it.

The men gazed at each other, they had been clamoring for me to take a wife but they had not even been able to fulfill a part of their bargain.

"Your duty is finding out the people that are trying to sabotage our reign. Or do you think that I'm the only one who is going to take the Fall by the time these people have been able to prevail?" I laughed at their .

"Your children are going to be taken captive and diverse people are also going to suffer from this. The best thing that you can do for everyone is to put in more effort. I have already turned around the patrol. Yet you have not cooperated with me."

Mason looked at me a little bit worried but I was not going to spare any of them anymore.

"You've been hellbent on me taking a wife that you've forgotten and neglected your duties. Is that really what you think everything around here is all about"

I made sure to ridicule them because prior to this I had never had any issues with making sure that people were safe around me.

Since that had not happened before I was not going to let that start now and I had to quench it before you became even a full blown menace.

"The park is not going to suffer for anybody's neglect. I certainly would not be entertaining anything that doesn't make sense around here."

They stiffened at my rebuke but that didn't mean that I was also going to let it go.

"We will do better sir."

One after the other they dismissed but I was not still satisfied with the way we have taken this with too much levity.

We were supposed to be able to strike a balance between having something and not even having access to it and still be happy.

Mason looked me in the eye. "Are we still holding the ball?"

"Yes, it's going to be a surprise by the time we find out that I have no plans on taking any wife. Selene is trying as much as possible to make me see her as the best candidate but I do not want to be attached to her."

He had the decency not to call me out on my decision because he had probably just realized that it was not going to work.

"I know how this looks but I think that she is still the best candidate sir. But I would also leave the invitation open." He quickly amended.

Whether or not he was in support of it, I already had my plans mapped out.

"And sir... I think Luna Selene wants to speak with you." He announced before taking off.

Of course she was going to try to do damage control at this point but I was not interested in anything that she had to say.

I had already given my verdict and that was enough. If she didn't think that it was then I couldn't help her in any case.

"Tell her to come in but only when I demand." I stated.

He raised his hands in surrender before jetting off finally.

I looked through the records of the taxes that had come in.

There was a missing gap between what should have been and what was.

Some people in the North had not been paying their taxes and expecting that I was going to overlook it well news flash, this was my turn to finally visit them.

I headed out of my office, but bumped into Selene. "Alpha,..."

"How are you doing today?" I maintained a professional look so that he didn't look like I was not considering her.

She raised her hand to caress my shoulders but I moved away frantically.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that." She batted her eyelids.

It wasn't right on any level. It was crazy how she believed that doing this was going to get me on her side.

"You were asking to see me. I was hoping that it was something serious. What exactly is the problem?" I demanded.

She paused for a minute and dragged my hands closer. "I wanted to show you something in my room tonight. Would you like to be..."

"If that's all, excuse me." I cut her off, and walked off.

Such a display of shame that I was not going to be a party to

Lyra’s POV. "I have been involved in a few fights in my life and I am not proud of everything that I have done but the only thing you can be rest assured of, is the fact that you would never be disappointed when it comes to me." Lucius told me.My eyes lingered on him, watching the once confident man look like he was trying so hard not to break down in my presence and I kind of understood it but at the same time, realized that he was fighting some battles that would never make any sense to me except he came out clean. "Of course you had to. How is that affecting you now?""Badly, a whole lot of people have different perception about me and as much as I would have loved for me to remain anonymous my past is finally catching up with me and I have to be at the center of it all making sure that everybody has a hand in this no matter what." He wasn't making any sense with his analogy and even though I wanted to believe him to some extent, I kind of felt like there was a little something

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 66

Kael's POV.My wolf led me to the plains, that was the only place that I could be able to get answers for what I was looking for and how long he was going to take for me to fathom a reasonable explanation and why she just disappeared. Selene must have been a bastard for thinking that you'll be able to make me convinced to do whatever she wanted and not what I truly wanted. How on Earth does she even think that it was possible? I had nothing to lose but she had everything and the entire world too. The father was not even as popular as he wanted to preserve his legacy and I was doing this simply because my pack members decided to go on a long journey to make sure that I was not doing anything against what was already in the works. I had nothing to lose nor gain, but now that Selene had spoken about it I was willing to abandon a few things to seek that girl out. She couldn't have been really far away or else I would have found her by now. I also didn't have anything to say apart fro

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 65

Lyra's POV.My first move was to comb the entire area making sure that I was able to drag the few things out."Don't you have a whole lot of things that you have to put into place before we start fighting against somebody that we know is going to prevail one way or the other?" It just didn't make sense to me no matter how much they were trying to go about it and paint it to be the real thing. I had already discovered a better way of handling the situation but none of this was sufficient enough for me. I had more ideas running through my mind and until they were done, I had nothing to fight for.One thing that was certain was the fact that I decided to go on with the entire trip. For Camille to think that everything was fine on my end and I was not under any pressure to give them a correct prediction or else lead them to their doom, she was just the same like everybody else. Most of them had concluded that I was overreacting about certain things that I did which was okay by me and

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 63

Kael's POV. I didn't have much to think of but I knew that something had been going on that I have was not very attentive to and I needed to change that immediately before it was so late for me to do that anymore I wasn't obsessing over Selene but she had made very valid points and I needed to check downtown just to see what was lurking behind this scenes As a spy myself I knew that whenever there was a lot of count it was going to birth something more than a whirlwind. I didn't have much to talk about but I was very sure that there was even something else going on that needed to help in releasing the pains. I had nothing more to look for besides the obvious answers that I had gotten over a long time. I didn't also have what it took to be able to switch things up but I was sure that at some point I would be able to see what was going on and deal with it. Firstly there was nothing else that I needed to do that was going to help out. All I needed right now was to make sure that I h

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 64

Lyra's POV. One of the most amazing things that I had ever done in my entire life had to be the fact that I have been able to understand the difference between the different timelines and how to navigate through it without losing my mind.I was only committed to one and that needed all the time in the world just to be able to sort many differences out."So... Are you a little bit worried by what this might bring and how longMy heart was pounding so hard that I almost felt it leaping out of my chest. My hands were tight but I had only one will.I needed to live, even if that was the last thing that I did. There was basically no option for me and I wasn't going to take chances. "If she gets away, we are doomed!" Somebody yelled from behind me. I was a little bit irritated by the way they were acting but I couldn't blame them either. It wasn't entirely there fault the way things were going, they had just been conditioned to think that Selene wielded the entire power. I also thought

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 62

Lyra's POV. I didn't think that there was going to be a change in the fact, "I didn't have the right to change the mandate but there wasn't anything more the other day." "Are you sure that there's something wrong with the issues at hand or is this something else that you need to tell me?" Camille headed towards me with the intention to get more information out of me but that was not going to happen. I had already figured out that there was going to be a little bit of a mix up here and there and I was waiting to see how long it was going to take and what exactly I had to do to sort out the entire problems. I had taken a deep breath yet refused to look straight into what she wanted me to do. I was thinking about how long it was going to take for me to be able to sort out a few things but here I was, dealing with more issues than none. "Is this really a thing or...?"I took a deep breath refusing to answer my question because it was harmful to my person and I would love to have the
