Lyra's POV.

My nose was the only thing I was relying heavily upon right now

It was going to save me in the midst of wolves of various rankings.

People lined up ranging from highest lowest degrees and I could see the sucking up here and there in the room

It was not something that I was used too or hoped to be used to, but I guess around the werewolf community, it was always about the person who wielded so much power.

Opulence-filled, yet charged with so much power that it could almost smack you backwards if you were not standing properly.

My target had not come out yet.

"Any luck?" Lucius' voice broke my train of thoughts.

"No, not yet." I answered.

I knew that Lucius had his own wicked reason for being here and I was not going to delude myself but I wanted to see how this was going to play out.

Was he going to start a war in the presence of all the alphas? He was nothing but a rogue. Someone who the entire werewolf would kill for just to have his blood on their hands.

It was quite amazing how he believes that he could get out of this situation so easily.

He drew his mask higher than usual, telling on him because now he looked weird.

"I'm going to stretch my feet. I'm sure you would handle things."

He was leaving me here all by myself, which was what I wanted to do at all.

I didn't know what he was expecting of me but I knew that I needed to even and stop that marriage from happening.

I had been kicked out, yet it didn't stop me from having the mindset of wanting to also ascend that throne.

I do that to have closure with the man who called himself the alpha. It wasn't going to be an easy conversation but I would make it work.

"I would do just that." I agreed.

He disappeared in a split second, heading out to cause disaster.

Alpha Kael walked down the spiral staircase. His eyes roaming around the entire room like he had his eyes on a prey.

"What I wouldn't give to be chosen tonight." Whispers broke out behind me.

Women fawned over him like white and rice. Most of them wanted to be chosen to be his which was even more annoying.

Had they not had any idea then it was not as glamorous as it looked? If there was going to be any hiccup, they would take the fall.

He approached the makeshift podium, his eyes fastening on everyone before landing on me.

I inhaled softly. He wasn't conversant with my scent, especially with the fact that I had been able to mask it.

A flicker of emotion passed through it, reminding me of the wishes I have to be by his side all the step of the way

They have been completely abandoned and shelved in the recess of my mind. Never to be spoken of again

Casting me out was his mistake, I had other plans around here and was going to get to work before it was too late.

"Welcome to the party. I reckon this is going to be a fun one." He announced.

His eyes remained on mine but I knew that he didn't recognize me at all. I didn't even feel the connection between the both of us anymore.

Selene descended the stairs with so much gait that would put every other woman to shame. It wasn't news that she was trying to sink her hook on the throne.

I scoffed.

"The program begins." He announced, before heading upstairs.

He was about to take the VIP section while women vie for a position that was never theirs in the first place.

I understood how hard it was to live without having any backup but I didn't want to be so desperate.

I kept watching him from my peripheral vision. Our eyes clashed at intervals, as he kept his focus on me.

I didn't want to be entertained regarding this. I was here on a mission,

Women danced, some pranced, and others remained indifferent.

We were only two who shared the same sentiment. We couldn't care less.

The alpha in question had his jaw set in a thin line, refusing to allow himself to be dragged into something that he didn't want.

I appreciated him for not making that mistake of pretending to enjoy whatever was going on.

I took it upon myself to show the last move before heading into his Chambers.

Men surrounded the environment, but that has never stopped anyone has it?

I disappear from his line of sight. He was busy picking the girls that he would want to spend the rest of his life with even if I knew that he was only just putting off getting married to Selene.

According to his cabinet she was the best option for him. I wasn't worth a thing because they believed that was going to ruin everything due to the prophecy.

I strode towards the restroom. It was a diversion. I was heading towards his room, Lucius had given me something earlier to drop into his tea.

He loved taking tea according to the rumors. He was going to pay for allowing himself to be misled

I looked right and left, and luckily, nobody was within earshot.

I stopped in the middle of the hallway. locating his room wasn't the problem, it was getting in and out without anyone finding out my identity.

A warrior strolled past me like a breeze. They had been taught how to walk stealthily.

I imitated his movement. No one was going to find out that I had come in here and created havoc.

I grinned just as soon as I had successfully twisted the door knob without a sound.

"Is there any reason why you are trying to sneak into my room, you pilferer?" Kael's voice bounced off the walls.

Lyra’s POV. "I have been involved in a few fights in my life and I am not proud of everything that I have done but the only thing you can be rest assured of, is the fact that you would never be disappointed when it comes to me." Lucius told me.My eyes lingered on him, watching the once confident man look like he was trying so hard not to break down in my presence and I kind of understood it but at the same time, realized that he was fighting some battles that would never make any sense to me except he came out clean. "Of course you had to. How is that affecting you now?""Badly, a whole lot of people have different perception about me and as much as I would have loved for me to remain anonymous my past is finally catching up with me and I have to be at the center of it all making sure that everybody has a hand in this no matter what." He wasn't making any sense with his analogy and even though I wanted to believe him to some extent, I kind of felt like there was a little something

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 66

Kael's POV.My wolf led me to the plains, that was the only place that I could be able to get answers for what I was looking for and how long he was going to take for me to fathom a reasonable explanation and why she just disappeared. Selene must have been a bastard for thinking that you'll be able to make me convinced to do whatever she wanted and not what I truly wanted. How on Earth does she even think that it was possible? I had nothing to lose but she had everything and the entire world too. The father was not even as popular as he wanted to preserve his legacy and I was doing this simply because my pack members decided to go on a long journey to make sure that I was not doing anything against what was already in the works. I had nothing to lose nor gain, but now that Selene had spoken about it I was willing to abandon a few things to seek that girl out. She couldn't have been really far away or else I would have found her by now. I also didn't have anything to say apart fro

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 65

Lyra's POV.My first move was to comb the entire area making sure that I was able to drag the few things out."Don't you have a whole lot of things that you have to put into place before we start fighting against somebody that we know is going to prevail one way or the other?" It just didn't make sense to me no matter how much they were trying to go about it and paint it to be the real thing. I had already discovered a better way of handling the situation but none of this was sufficient enough for me. I had more ideas running through my mind and until they were done, I had nothing to fight for.One thing that was certain was the fact that I decided to go on with the entire trip. For Camille to think that everything was fine on my end and I was not under any pressure to give them a correct prediction or else lead them to their doom, she was just the same like everybody else. Most of them had concluded that I was overreacting about certain things that I did which was okay by me and

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 63

Kael's POV. I didn't have much to think of but I knew that something had been going on that I have was not very attentive to and I needed to change that immediately before it was so late for me to do that anymore I wasn't obsessing over Selene but she had made very valid points and I needed to check downtown just to see what was lurking behind this scenes As a spy myself I knew that whenever there was a lot of count it was going to birth something more than a whirlwind. I didn't have much to talk about but I was very sure that there was even something else going on that needed to help in releasing the pains. I had nothing more to look for besides the obvious answers that I had gotten over a long time. I didn't also have what it took to be able to switch things up but I was sure that at some point I would be able to see what was going on and deal with it. Firstly there was nothing else that I needed to do that was going to help out. All I needed right now was to make sure that I h

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 64

Lyra's POV. One of the most amazing things that I had ever done in my entire life had to be the fact that I have been able to understand the difference between the different timelines and how to navigate through it without losing my mind.I was only committed to one and that needed all the time in the world just to be able to sort many differences out."So... Are you a little bit worried by what this might bring and how longMy heart was pounding so hard that I almost felt it leaping out of my chest. My hands were tight but I had only one will.I needed to live, even if that was the last thing that I did. There was basically no option for me and I wasn't going to take chances. "If she gets away, we are doomed!" Somebody yelled from behind me. I was a little bit irritated by the way they were acting but I couldn't blame them either. It wasn't entirely there fault the way things were going, they had just been conditioned to think that Selene wielded the entire power. I also thought

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 62

Lyra's POV. I didn't think that there was going to be a change in the fact, "I didn't have the right to change the mandate but there wasn't anything more the other day." "Are you sure that there's something wrong with the issues at hand or is this something else that you need to tell me?" Camille headed towards me with the intention to get more information out of me but that was not going to happen. I had already figured out that there was going to be a little bit of a mix up here and there and I was waiting to see how long it was going to take and what exactly I had to do to sort out the entire problems. I had taken a deep breath yet refused to look straight into what she wanted me to do. I was thinking about how long it was going to take for me to be able to sort out a few things but here I was, dealing with more issues than none. "Is this really a thing or...?"I took a deep breath refusing to answer my question because it was harmful to my person and I would love to have the
