last update Last Updated: 2025-10-03 13:21:34

Kael's POV.

Mason headed into my room with a stack of paper in his hands obviously hoping that he would be able to talk to me about a few things.

The only difference between him and me was the fact that I had not been able to come up with a very deliberate way of handling this without losing my mind

The amount of time that I had wasted on speaking to the council could have been replaced if I truly put my heart to it, but now I'm still a little bit worried.

"Alpha, we have a problem."

I hated hearing those words because it automatically put me at a disadvantage and started making me think of the worst things.

"If you know that you have a problem then you can just go ahead with it."

At first he didn't understand what I was talking about but later he finally nodded.

"I meant that we have to be fast when it comes to choosing a bride. Luna Selene is one of the best candidates that we have and honestly speaking a lot of people do not want to give us a chance."

Those words only got on my nerves even more than necessary. "If they cannot take the heat then they better get out of the kitchen instead of making a whole lot of noise about something that doesn't even make any sense."

Pushing me into taking somebody that I didn't think was worth my time into my arms was an idea that I thought had already become obsolete.

According to what I was listening to right now it was very obvious that it wasn't. Instead it was about how they felt without thinking about how this was going to impact my general life.

"I think that some people are already pushing for the motion that you are taking out if you cannot handle the position anymore." He winced.

I looked him in the eye waiting for his hilarious words.

There were a lot of things that many people had already done that made me laugh, for this was one of them that took the cake and made me burst into even mirth.

"Get those elders here right now."

"I'm already on my way sir!" He answered quickly.

Too many things had already gone wrong and I was trying to figure out what exactly I could have done to make things better but at the same time I was still wondering about how long it was going to take for me to be able to finally bring this to order.

*****

The elders sat in front of me with my legs crossed on each other. "Explain to me why you have been going behind my back and instigating trash." I went straight to the point.

They looked at one another obviously helping that I would not have been able to figure out that they had a hand in this.

How stupid they thought I could be I would not understand but in whatever case, their only way of figuring out how to bring back the truth was by pushing someone towards me.

"We have a lot of things that could be discussed but you've decided to hound me about getting married. Does that really matter in the grand scheme of things or are you only ready to make it work in your favor because she has been able to convince you otherwise."

My accusation was clear and direct and I was not mincing words. It was supposed to be a clear instruction but at the end of the day I figured out that these guys already had a plan to make my life a living hell but I was not going to let them win.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you sir but we don't think that everybody's really pleased with the fact that you have rejected your mate, concerning everything that has been said, we think it is only best if you do what you believe is right. What do you think about that?"

It was a resounding no but there was absolutely no way that I would be able to start keeping people who were not ready to fight to the finish for anything tangible instead they were only trying to destroy what I had built.

The second thing that I wasn't going to Allah for was the fact that most of the people who had come in here had tried one way or the other to stop me.

I looked straight at the people who I wanted to deal with, and figured out that I was only wasting my time and the best way to handle this was to make sure that I had a standard too great for them to manipulate.

They immediately went silent but much later I could still see the arguments on their faces which I wouldn't mind disputing.

"So, what are some of the things that you have in mind towards taking this pack forward? Or are you hell-bent on proving that I need a woman to run this successfully?"

It was a trick question and if they played into my hands they were going to regret their decision because I was going to make them work through eggshells just to be able to get it.

They looked at each other for a minute and finally realized that they had not been making sense since the start of things and finally decided to move away.

"I thought so too. Now that it is settled, I don't want anybody coming here and making a fool out of themselves. I'll just because they want to prove that they are wise enough. Are my words clear?"

Without any further argument they nodded and walked away.

Mason looked me in the eye a little bit jittery. "I don't think that's going to work."

"To hell with whatever anybody thinks about this, I'm sure that they know better than to test me now."

It was a done deal, and everyone would start afresh.

Lyra’s POV. "I have been involved in a few fights in my life and I am not proud of everything that I have done but the only thing you can be rest assured of, is the fact that you would never be disappointed when it comes to me." Lucius told me.My eyes lingered on him, watching the once confident man look like he was trying so hard not to break down in my presence and I kind of understood it but at the same time, realized that he was fighting some battles that would never make any sense to me except he came out clean. "Of course you had to. How is that affecting you now?""Badly, a whole lot of people have different perception about me and as much as I would have loved for me to remain anonymous my past is finally catching up with me and I have to be at the center of it all making sure that everybody has a hand in this no matter what." He wasn't making any sense with his analogy and even though I wanted to believe him to some extent, I kind of felt like there was a little something

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 66

Kael's POV.My wolf led me to the plains, that was the only place that I could be able to get answers for what I was looking for and how long he was going to take for me to fathom a reasonable explanation and why she just disappeared. Selene must have been a bastard for thinking that you'll be able to make me convinced to do whatever she wanted and not what I truly wanted. How on Earth does she even think that it was possible? I had nothing to lose but she had everything and the entire world too. The father was not even as popular as he wanted to preserve his legacy and I was doing this simply because my pack members decided to go on a long journey to make sure that I was not doing anything against what was already in the works. I had nothing to lose nor gain, but now that Selene had spoken about it I was willing to abandon a few things to seek that girl out. She couldn't have been really far away or else I would have found her by now. I also didn't have anything to say apart fro

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 65

Lyra's POV.My first move was to comb the entire area making sure that I was able to drag the few things out."Don't you have a whole lot of things that you have to put into place before we start fighting against somebody that we know is going to prevail one way or the other?" It just didn't make sense to me no matter how much they were trying to go about it and paint it to be the real thing. I had already discovered a better way of handling the situation but none of this was sufficient enough for me. I had more ideas running through my mind and until they were done, I had nothing to fight for.One thing that was certain was the fact that I decided to go on with the entire trip. For Camille to think that everything was fine on my end and I was not under any pressure to give them a correct prediction or else lead them to their doom, she was just the same like everybody else. Most of them had concluded that I was overreacting about certain things that I did which was okay by me and

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 63

Kael's POV. I didn't have much to think of but I knew that something had been going on that I have was not very attentive to and I needed to change that immediately before it was so late for me to do that anymore I wasn't obsessing over Selene but she had made very valid points and I needed to check downtown just to see what was lurking behind this scenes As a spy myself I knew that whenever there was a lot of count it was going to birth something more than a whirlwind. I didn't have much to talk about but I was very sure that there was even something else going on that needed to help in releasing the pains. I had nothing more to look for besides the obvious answers that I had gotten over a long time. I didn't also have what it took to be able to switch things up but I was sure that at some point I would be able to see what was going on and deal with it. Firstly there was nothing else that I needed to do that was going to help out. All I needed right now was to make sure that I h

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 64

Lyra's POV. One of the most amazing things that I had ever done in my entire life had to be the fact that I have been able to understand the difference between the different timelines and how to navigate through it without losing my mind.I was only committed to one and that needed all the time in the world just to be able to sort many differences out."So... Are you a little bit worried by what this might bring and how longMy heart was pounding so hard that I almost felt it leaping out of my chest. My hands were tight but I had only one will.I needed to live, even if that was the last thing that I did. There was basically no option for me and I wasn't going to take chances. "If she gets away, we are doomed!" Somebody yelled from behind me. I was a little bit irritated by the way they were acting but I couldn't blame them either. It wasn't entirely there fault the way things were going, they had just been conditioned to think that Selene wielded the entire power. I also thought

  • ALPHA KAEL'S REJECTION    CHAPTER 62

Lyra's POV. I didn't think that there was going to be a change in the fact, "I didn't have the right to change the mandate but there wasn't anything more the other day." "Are you sure that there's something wrong with the issues at hand or is this something else that you need to tell me?" Camille headed towards me with the intention to get more information out of me but that was not going to happen. I had already figured out that there was going to be a little bit of a mix up here and there and I was waiting to see how long it was going to take and what exactly I had to do to sort out the entire problems. I had taken a deep breath yet refused to look straight into what she wanted me to do. I was thinking about how long it was going to take for me to be able to sort out a few things but here I was, dealing with more issues than none. "Is this really a thing or...?"I took a deep breath refusing to answer my question because it was harmful to my person and I would love to have the
