Chapter thirty-three

My heart raced like it would jump out of my chest as we walked in. My palms were sweating from the anxiety building up inside me. The familiar scent of forest mixed with the undeniable presence of elders only intensified my nervousness.

I stole a glance at Logan whose confident stride and reassuring smile were like an anchor keeping me grounded. His head was raised up highly followed by the majestic steps that he took, walking past all the guards who were on our side. He exuded a cold air, explaining why everyone around him had goosebumps.

His fingers intertwined with mine made a surge of comfort wash over me. This was the only good feeling inside me.

His posture remained firm and composed as we neared the elders who were at the main entrance, a stark contrast to the turmoil of emotions churning within me.
