Sophia's pov
I smiled as I checked the time on my wristwatch and added, "It's already past six-thirty in the evening." I purposely arrived late for the event, which began more than an hour and thirty minutes ago. "Everyone has to be inside by now. I'm glad I arrived this late. I groaned and told myself, "As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather be in my college room right now. I can just sneak to the back while everyone is absorbed and carried away by whatever fun they're having by being present at this ceremony.” As usual, nobody seemed to notice me walking past. I walked towards the entrance of the hall where the ceremony was taking place. The ceremony was a very elaborate one. Every member of our pack was present and I expected that the entire Lombado Mafia pack would be here too, so it was quite a large crowd. “Everyone is very engaged now,” I said, pausing to observe what was going on. “This is my chance to sneak in. I'll find myself a seat somewhere I can maybe hide so that nobody will focus on me”, I thought as I stood peeping from the entrance of the hall. As I walked in, I perceived a very sharp scent. Pausing, I realized it was the intense scent of my fated mate. The scent is a sharp blend of peppermint , grapefruit and lemon. The scent was so pungent that I felt like I could taste it as well. Before I knew what was going on, I was sweating profusely. It was as though someone had poured water on me. The feeling was so overwhelming, I could not put words to describe how I felt. I felt hot and cold at the same time. My discomfort intensified, and I felt like I was being torn apart from the inside out. My mouth was parched and itchy, as if I'd gone without water my entire life. The air seemed to have vanished, leaving an unsettling stillness. I was acutely aware of my own body, particularly the throbbing sensation in my clitoris. I squeezed my legs together, hoping to alleviate the ache. "What's happening to me?" I thought, bewildered. "This must be it – I've found my mate." As the realization dawned on me, I understood that these intense sensations were connected to my wolf bond with my fated mate. I paused and inhaled deeply in an attempt to calm my racing heart and throbbing clitoris. Then I turned and looked towards the direction where the new Alphas stood with my sisters, their new Lunas. In the same instance, Felixo turned his attention to me. I tried to look away but the force of the attraction was so strong it had created a connection that was undeniable. I recognized it at that moment as my eyes locked in Felixo's intense gaze. “No!!” I screamed in her heart. “Not Felixo or Fernando. Not them. Please not the heirs to the Lombado empire”, I said to myself as I panicked. I felt a sense of dread wash over me as I struggled with the reality of my situation. "Why must I be tied to the future leaders of the Lombado empire?" I thought, feeling trapped and overwhelmed. The idea of being bound to the heirs of the Lombado mafia was daunting, especially after I'd worked so hard to distance myself from my family and anything related to the Mafia part of my family. The thought of being pulled back into that world filled me with fear, and I could feel my body responding. My knees weakened, and my legs trembled. Panic set in, and I knew I had to get out of there. "I have to leave, I have to escape," I thought, desperate to avoid the fate that seemed to be waiting for me. I turned and ran from the room, hoping to outrun the destiny that seemed to be tied to the Mafia life I'd always tried to avoid. Why is our bond not diminishing? It's supposed to diminish the farther I run,” I noted, noticing the intensity of my wolf bond. “Something must be wrong,” I thought, then I turned to be sure I wasn't being followed and to my surprise, I noticed someone running behind me. He was still quite a distance away from me but I knew immediately I saw him. “Alpha Felixo… he is coming for me. He knows,” I said, shivering slightly in fear. “I can't let him get me. I have to keep running,” I declared and with that, I increased my pace. I ran only a short distance before I unknowingly kicked the root of a tree and fell flat on the ground. I immediately tried to stand up and continue running only to realize that I had sprained my ankle and couldn't move. I looked up and Apha Felixo was still charging towards me . “I'm trapped. He'll surely catch up with me,” I said, and closed my eyes.Felixo’s povFernando and I had both been so consumed by our emotions, by the chaos surrounding our engagement and our duty to the pack, that we let our guard down. And in that moment of weakness, Sophie had slipped away.“I should have been more careful. I knew she was still struggling to accept us as her mates,” I said to myself, angry at my own mistake. “I should have known she definitely wouldn't trust so easily, not after the way her family had treated her all her life. And now, after everything we had promised her, we had given her even more reason to doubt.”“I can’t lose her. We can’t lose her”, I shook with worry.Fernando must have sensed my spiraling thoughts because he gripped my shoulder tightly. “We’ll find her,” he said firmly. “We’re not letting her go.”I nodded, pushing down the frustration gnawing at my chest. “There’s no time for self-blame now. Sophie is out there alone, and the longer she stays unprotected, the more danger she’d be exposed to.” I composed myself.
Fernando's pov “Something feels wrong. The bed is too cold beside me,” I thought, lying half awake on the bed I shared with my brother. “This is the spot where Sophie should be,” I thought again, reaching out and feeling the softness of the bed. “It's empty!” My eyes snapped open immediately. “Where is she?” I sat up, scanning the dimly lit room. “Maybe she just went to the bathroom?” I told myself as I relaxed a little. Minutes passed and there was still no sign of her. I felt a knot tightened in my chest. “Something isn't right.” My wolf stirred inside me, uneasy. I threw the covers off and swung my legs over the bed, planting my feet firmly on the floor. And then, turning to the other side of the bed and I nudged my twin. “Felixo. Wake up.” He groaned, muttering something incoherent, before cracking one eye open. “What?” “Sophie’s gone.” I replied, without mixing words. That woke him up real fast. “What do you mean, gone?” he snapped, already sitting up. His gold
Sophia's povThe vibration of my phone beneath my pillow was what pulled me out of sleep. Whoever was trying to reach me had clearly been calling for a while. When I finally answered, the voice on the other end jolted me fully awake and instantly changed everything.“Sophia,” the voice said, sending a chill down my spine. Only one person whose voice always manages to frighten me.“Hi, Dad,” I responded, my voice unsteady. He always had a way of making me feel uneasy.“Where are you?” he asked, as if he didn’t already know exactly where I was but I was sure he did. He knows everything.“Uh, nowhere really… just out,” I lied, unable to admit the truth. “Not right now,” I thought to myself.“Wherever you are, I want you back in this house immediately,” he said, his tone icy.“Yes, Father,” I replied softly before the call disconnected.“What a disaster,” I thought. “I have to get home fast,” I told myself as I sat up.Sitting up, I realized it wasn’t just Felixo beside me, “Fernando is h
Felixo’s POVI was half awake when my brother came in. I had been waiting for him to return so we could talk about what happened today. I know he felt what I felt. It was obvious even though he tried so hard to hide it.“Someone finally decided to come home,” I said, with light humor “I thought you were asleep”, he responded dryly.“You look like shit,” I mocked, ignoring his comment. “What have you been up to? Your eyes look so tired,” I said more seriously this time.“Just doing some thinking”, he replied.“Would you mind sharing what you were thinking about with your brother?” I asked with mild sarcasm.“I don't know man, I've been so worked up by everything that's going on. Why do you seem so calm? Why aren't you worried?” he asked, mildly annoyed by my carefree attitude as usual.“Worried about what brother?” I asked like I was not aware of what he was talking about.“Don't you see what happened today is against our duty? Think about the potential vulnerability this poses to ou
Fernando’s POV“What's going on with you?” Clara inquired, watching me with concern in her eyes. “Why do you look so worked up? You’re sweating profusely. Are you okay?”“Yes Clara, I'm fine. Everything is good,” I lied. “I need to get some air,” I said, walking away almost immediately, without waiting to hear her response. “There is nothing anyone can say or do to change what I just felt in there,” I told myself as I walked out of the hall. Outside, I took a deep breath. “This has changed everything,” I thought. I knew. “Even if we decide to go on with this pack binding ceremony it's not going to change the fact that Sophia is our true fated mate. It's never going to be the same, not for me and definitely not for my brother Felixo,” I sighed.“But why? Why now? Why did she have to come now? Why did we not realize this sooner? Everything would have been a lot easier. Not now that there's so much at stake, now that everything has been settled for Felixo and I to wed Clara and Claire.
Sophia's pov “Alpha Felixo” I panicked as I looked up and saw Felixo standing over me. I had never been this close to him. Everyone in the pack knew to fear the Lombado family. I've known them for almost all my life. Everyone in my pack does too. The Lombado Mafia pack was a neighbor pack known for their ruthlessness. I’m not sure anyone in the pack was more terrified of their family like I was. But I felt more than the typical anxiety I had anticipated as he stood there, watching me with eyes that seemed to scan my body. My body trembled for an unknown reason, but I knew it wasn't just dread because my clitoris throbbed with cold. "What brings you out here?" I pretended not to realize that he had been after me when I inquired. I did not want him to believe that I had been avoiding him out of fear of punishment.“What is your name?” he asked instead of answering my questions.“My name is Soph”, I replied without looking at him. I did not want to be there. I wanted to run as far
