CHAPTER 004

Felixo’s POV

I was half awake when my brother came in. I had been waiting for him to return so we could talk about what happened today. I know he felt what I felt. It was obvious even though he tried so hard to hide it.

“Someone finally decided to come home,” I said, with light humor

“I thought you were asleep”, he responded dryly.

“You look like shit,” I mocked, ignoring his comment. “What have you been up to? Your eyes look so tired,” I said more seriously this time.

“Just doing some thinking”, he replied.

“Would you mind sharing what you were thinking about with your brother?” I asked with mild sarcasm.

“I don't know man, I've been so worked up by everything that's going on. Why do you seem so calm? Why aren't you worried?” he asked, mildly annoyed by my carefree attitude as usual.

“Worried about what brother?” I asked like I was not aware of what he was talking about.

“Don't you see what happened today is against our duty? Think about the potential vulnerability this poses to our world”, he rambled voicing the fear he must have been battling. “Are we really just going to let everything go to hell?” he asked tiredly.

“Nothing is going to hell Fernando. Nothing's going to change. We've got this bro. We're not going to let anything go to hell,” I said firmly.

“Then tell me brother, why did you run? Why did you leave everyone standing and runoff? Yes I get it, I’m supposed to be the calm one and you're the wilder one but aren't you supposed to understand what's at stake here?” he asked,looking bewildered.

“I do understand what's at stake here brother. I do. It's not like I've forgotten what's at stake. As a matter of fact this makes our situation even more difficult to handle. But something needs to be done. We need to act as soon as possible”, I replied calmly.

“Then why is she here?” Fernando asked, almost hysterically as he gestured towards her.

The sight of her being there not only made me feel positive about the whole situation, it made me a lot more confident. It stirred a sort of passion, emotion and involuntary excitement, like a sort of psychedelic drug. It filled my head and was clouding my reasoning. I didn't care. I felt a need to hold her in my hands, feel her soft skin, kiss her all over her body, to howl. I wanted to charge towards her and pour out all my desire on her. Instead I drew a deep breath to control the bulge in my underpants.

“Take it easy bro. Please this is a sensitive subject and I am aware of how this makes you feel but this is our destiny. I know this is not what you would have wanted me to do, but look at her,” I said, gesturing towards Sophia. “I know you may not want her here because of the situation on the ground. But this is important also. We didn't cause any of this to happen. It's not our making. But we cannot ignore the significance of what we just found. She is our true mate, given to us by the moon goddess herself. We can't turn our back on that,” I told him in his bid to calm me.

“It doesn't matter if any of what I'm saying makes any sense to. What matters the most is that this is real. We've found her and we cannot deny that. She belongs here with us. We should not just let her go. She's ours, brother and we should fight to protect what is ours”, I said, hoping that was convincing enough.

“What about our duty? Our obligation to the pack and the Mafia? What about the agreement?” He asked obviously, tired of fighting his feelings.

“Our only duty, brother, is to ourselves”, I said adamantly.

“But it's only her, Felixo. Is it just me that sees how crazy this is? Even if we were to throw all caution to the wind and just do whatever makes us happy, look at her… I mean, she's just one person. How are we supposed to possibly share a mate? Doesn't this make this even more problematic? It has never been heard of. How do we manage this relationship?” Fernando asked worriedly.

“It's because we're different, Brother. Don't you see that this binds us together. Sharing one mate will ultimately keep us together. I don't know my brother but I think that's a good thing. We become one and stronger this way. Don't you see it?” I replied and as explained I did it all started to make sense to me.

“Maybe you're right. We may not know how to handle this situation right now but with time, I guess we will figure it out. We didn't plan for any of this to happen, fighting it would be absurd”, Fernando said finally giving in. My explanation must have been convincing enough,” I thought, happy that my brother was in on this with me.

“I need to rest bro. Today has been really crazy”, he added before joining Sophia and I on the bed. We both stayed up a little longer talking about other things and future plans.
