2. UNEXPECTED LOVE

Fiona tries to recall the matter of the Mariposa Hotel. What happened there? She tapped on the head, hoping the moment on the spot would turn fast again.

Steve smiled faintly. "One night—"

"Stop!" interrupted the woman.

The man in front of her frowned. "Why?"

Fiona sighed. "Did I deliver something to that hotel?"

Steve then chuckled. He doesn't think it's why the woman in front of him is so plain. "You really don't remember," he said. "We spent the night there, Stupid!"

Zeus's flash of lightning seemed to strike Fiona instantly. The woman rounded her eyes, then thumped the table and made everyone in the tavern turn to her. She smiled until they all returned to their respective plates, then looked straight at the man in front of her.

"Don't be silly!" she snapped. "I know that I am famous, but it doesn't mean that you can play me with this kind of trick!"

Steve sighed. He clasped both hands on the table, then fixedly looked at Fiona. "We met at the club last night," he said. "And you're drunk."

Fiona frowned. She was drunk? Which is true? Fiona didn't even remember that.

The man nodded. "I just take you to the hotel where you can rest, but...."

"You made it up?" The woman still can't believe it.

"Let's just say I made up the words because of my bad public speaking, but that doesn't mean I'm making up about last night's events."

Fiona’s saliva gulped. “So?”

Steve let the woman beside him fall silent. He does not tell Fiona the continuation of the story but lets the woman remember the incident at the Mariposa Hotel. However, Fiona remains upset if she only works in the company last night, is covered by reporters, and then returns to her apartment unit. She forgot the moment from getting off work until she was finally attacked by reporters.

October is the height of autumn. Dry fallen maple leaves fill the streets, creating an aesthetic impression while carving out the momentum of joy and sorrow simultaneously. The raindrops were still falling, but not to the point of flooding the streets.

Having no other choice and feeling sorry for Fiona, Steve is finally willing to drive the woman back to her apartment unit after buying some food stocks at the convenience store. The reporters have not seen the bridge of their noses, so the two can move freely.

"Don't leave the unit if there's nothing important," Steve said.

Fiona nodded. "Thank you."

Steve carved out a smile. "I'm going home first."

Fiona immediately closed her apartment unit seconds after the handsome man came home. However, she suddenly stopped as if forgetting something. The woman reopened the door and found Steve wasn't there. She snoozed long.

"Why did I forget to ask for his phone number? Unlucky! You're such a fool, Fiona!" she said.

It's been almost two months since her meeting with Steve, and Fiona Aubrey is still thinking about the figure of the man who broke through the niches of her heart. She didn't even work because she was busy hallucinating if only they reunited and forged a sacred bond. Ah, Fiona's brain is so wild this second.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Fiona has returned to work as Miss Aubrey with all the frenetic life in the style of her nobility. The father looked at her many times, confirming Fiona's condition. Of course, Fiona was upset. She knew if Jack had treated her so especially since her mother's death. Fiona knew that she was the only person Jack could expect to pass on the company. It's another thing with Jacob, the younger brother, whose life is free and unwilling to be managed. Now even Fiona doesn't know how her 20-year-old brother is doing.

"Urgh, it hurts so much," the woman murmured.

Recently, her stomach seems to be hit by something. Every Fiona filled her with any food or drink, always regurgitated. Fiona only knew if her ulcer recurred, so she took some medicine to neutralize her stomach acid. However, everything is in vain.

The female placed the pen next to the document. Her head has been dizzy since just now. Not because of thinking about some ongoing projects in the company, but rather because of something turbulent from within her. Fiona moved off the chair, headed for the bathroom, and spit out all her guts there.

"Ah, what the hell?" she grumbled with her hands holding on to the sink. Again she vomited. Her stomach was empty and now it was stinging.

Remarkably, it did not dampen the performance of Fiona Aubrey. She worked into the night despite having to go to the bathroom many times to vomit during meetings. The turmoil really made her sanity almost abnormal now.

After her work was done, Fiona decided to return to her apartment unit immediately. She got into the car and drove her vehicle to the scene of the fight. However, just a few kilometers away from the office building, Fiona suddenly had a headache. Her vision was blurred. She knew she had to get to her apartment quickly, but the throbbing in her head felt holding her back now. Finally, a light dazzled her eyes until everything the woman saw was dark instantly.

The hazel bead opened quietly, finding a white room scented with cypress. Fiona felt herself already in heaven now. However, her consciousness accumulated when she saw a doctor finish examining her. The female doctor smiled at Fiona as if there was happy news that she wanted to convey as soon as possible.

"You should, you don't push yourself, Miss Aubrey," she said.

Fiona sat down, assisted by the doctor. "I'm still alive?" she murmured, clutching her still throbbing head.

The doctor clucked softly. "Absolutely," she said. "And it's lucky that you didn't lose your child."

Fiona was silent, then glared instantly. She looked at the doctor beside her with a strange look on her face. "What does that mean?" she asked.

The woman in the white coat sighed. Of course, she knew Fiona Aubrey very well. No one does not know the young lady Aubrey because, in addition to being famous for her beauty, Aubrey Corp. is one of the largest investors in several well-known hospitals in the world.

"You're pregnant," the doctor said very casually. She went back to her workbench and wrote something down there.

Meanwhile, Fiona with half consciousness got up from the bed and walked to the doctor's desk—almost hitting the end of the table. She sat down on the chair opposite the woman in the white coat. "The doctor is cheating me, right?"

Lafanya—the doctor's name—snored. She knows true the personality of Miss Aubrey who has trust issues with those around her. "I've sworn in the name of my uniform," she said. "Where could I possibly lie to you who is obviously my patient now?"

Fiona took a gulp. She looked back at Lafanya.

"Let me ask, who did you spend the night with four weeks ago?" asked Lafanya while putting a pen on the table.

"Me?" Fiona thought for a moment. "I didn't spend the night with anyone."

"You must have slept on a single mattress with a man. The baby is already 4 weeks old and you can't cheat me, Miss Aubrey."

Fiona again thought. The content of her mind has not been clear as a result of nausea and dizziness she has felt recently. She tapped her fingers on the table, hoping that something would come to mind. Until finally, a remark ejected from a man managed to peck her brain.

Mariposa’s Hotel.

Unlucky! In fact, all the memories of her the man named Steve are spinning so fast. That night, of course, after her work was done, Fiona did not immediately return to her apartment. The woman actually went to the club and drank there until it was possible that the wine was the only cause of her forgetting her memory until now.

Fiona hit an eyebrow. "Why did I just remember!" she said to herself.

Lafanya screeched her head. "Miss Aubrey?"

"Stop! Okay! I remember it.” Fiona was in a trance. She looked anxious with her trembling body. Her bead looked at Lafanya. "So, what should I do now?"
