Aria's pov

Across the hall I spot Misha and her clique. She’s staring at me with hatred sharp enough to cut into my skin. I shift down in my chair, but Lucien’s arm lifts and lands across my shoulders in a smooth, casual claim.

Heat rushes through me.

Adrian’s hand rests suddenly on my thigh and my lungs stop working.

Are they insane?

A low rumble rolls across the hall and we hear a growl so deep and angry it sends shivers down my spine. My gaze snaps toward the sound to see Kael with his eyes glowing gold, entering through the side doors with two men behind him. .

His eyes are locked on me. They widen then narrow when he sees where I’m sitting. His jaw tightens so sharply I think I hear his teeth grind. He closes his eyes looking like he was visibly trying to refrain himself, then without a word, he moves toward the row of seats Misha sits on.

She stood up touching his forearm but he pulls away. Not a big movement…….subtle but enough for me to notice.
