Chapter Thirty-Nine

We'd just arrived home and were alighting from the vehicle. I was in no mood for anything so I hastened my steps to the front door.

"Rasaki." Ruby called out to him.

"Yes madam." He hid his sass.

I hurried inside and watched from my window as she slid out her phone and showed something to Rasaki. Almost immediately,he got on his knees and rubbed his palms like he was in prayer as he pleaded.

She said something to him whilst he nodded vigorously, a clear sign of understanding as he got off his knees, still nodding to whatever she had to say before she waved her hand in dismissal, stalking towards the front door.

I knew something was definitely amiss but I shoved it to the back of my mind as I sat on the edge of my bed,still fully clad in my school uniform and socks.
