Chapter One Hundred Five

****

I didn’t sleep that night.

Not because I was afraid of what they said when they woke,I didn't care.

Not because my hands still trembled from the weight of what I’d done.

I didn’t sleep because silence had become a mirror, and every time I closed my eyes, I saw their faces: Jason’s betrayal, Kael’s anger, both twisted by hands that weren’t mine.

Very early the next day, I was already on the roof. The wind blew through my robes, sharp and clean. I watched the academy from there, students heading to drills, professors muttering over scorched stone, healers still attending to the first-years injured in the fight.

And somewhere in that chaos, Jason and Kael were fully awake and alive.

Hating me more.

I saw Jason first.

He was in the west garden, standing under the willow where we used to train. Kieran was with him. Of course he was always.

I didn’t mean to listen to what they were saying. But the wind carried their voices like it wanted me to hear.

  • Academy Of Cursed Hearts    The Breaking Point

Chapter One Hundred and Four****These days, Jason and Kael always find reasons to fight or exchange bitter words. It's either about training space, stolen scrolls or staring at each other for too long. Anything at all can ignite the fire between them, and boom, they're fighting.I was strolling in the courtyard alone as usual when I heard the explosion. It wasn't metaphorical, it was actual fire.Stone cracked, runes broke. The screams were too loud.I ran so fast because I couldn't wait to see what was really happening with my own eyes. The training yard was in serious chaos.Students scattered like leaves in a storm. Professors shouted, but no one moved to intervene. They all wanted to watch. In the center, Jason and Kael tore each other apart with hateJason’s shadows weren’t bindings anymore, they were whips, lashing Kael’s skin, drawing blood with every strike. Kael’s fire wasn’t flame,it was black lightning, burning the air, melting stone, scorching Jason’s arms down to the

Chapter One Hundred and Three****Now I eat alone now,not by choice but by exile. The courtyard immediately got empty when I approached. Whispers followed me like ghosts. Some call me cursed. Others say I’ve lost the Queen’s favor. Some laughed openly.“She thinks she’s still the Key,” one sneered yesterday. “But keys don’t work when the lock’s been changed.”I didn’t answer. What’s there to say? They’re not wrong.Jason and Kael didn’t just avoid me.They avoided each other. And when they met by accident, in the halls, at drills, the air cracked.Yesterday, it was over a training dummy.Jason moved to adjust the bindings. Kael stepped in, flames already curling. “I was using that.”“Then use another,” Jason said, voice flat.“There’s only one that holds your shadows properly,” Kael shot back. “Guess you’ll have to go without it.”Jason’s eyes darkened. “You always start what you can’t control.”Kael’s fire flared black. “And you always hid behind silence like it made you noble.”They

Chapter One Hundred Two****The silence between us became very uncomfortable. Now,Jason walks ten paces ahead. Kael lingers behind. And I? I walk alone in the hollow space between them,no longer in the center, but the emptiness. It started with Kieran’s whispers in Kael’s ear. Now it’s Veyra’s poison in Jason’s mind. And I stand helpless, watching the two pillars of my strength crumble into dust.It happened again today.I was in the courtyard when I heard the clash, shadows snapping, fire roaring, stone breaking. I ran to the training yard just in time to see Veyra step out from behind the eastern wall, her face unreadable, robes pristine, eyes sharp as scalpels.Inside the ring, Jason and Kael fought like enemies. They were not sparring, they were destroying themselves.Jason’s bindings coiled around Kael’s throat, not to restrain, but to choke. Kael’s flames didn’t just burn, they consumed, black at the edges. Blood soaked Jason’s chest. Kael’s lip was broken, his knuckles were peel

Chapter One Hundred and One****I should’ve seen it coming.Kael’s fire had always burned hot,but lately, it burned wrong. Like it was trying to leave him.I told myself it was just jealousy. Just old wounds reopening.I was wrong. It was Kieran. It started with silence.Kael didn’t join us for dinner, he didn't show up at the forge for evening drills. When I passed his room, the door was shut, the air around it was thick.“He’s pulling away again.” Jason frowned as we strolled through the courtyard.“He’s hurting,” I said. “Give him space.”But space was exactly what Kieran needed.I found out what happened the next morning.I walked into the forge, expecting quiet embers and the scent of cooled stone.Instead, I found broken runes, scorched walls, and two sets of boot prints, one leading out in a limp, the other dragging. And blood. My heart stopped beating immediately.I followed the trail to Jason's room. He was asleep, face bruised, knuckles pilled, a shallow cut across his ribs

Chapter One Hundred****Lately, I see myself leaning on Jason more, confiding in him, though I don't tell him everything, but I tell him most of the things going on.Kael noticed the closeness but didn't say a word. Then, last night, it broke. We were in the forge chamber, practicing resonance. Jason binding the air, Kael shaping flame, me holding the center. It should’ve been seamless. But Kael’s fire flared too hot, too fast, scorching the rune circle at my feet.“Control it,” Jason snapped, shadows coiling defensively around me.Kael whirled on him. “I don’t need your orders.”“You do when you’re burning her,” Jason shot back, voice low and lethal.“I’d never hurt her,” Kael snarled.“Then stop acting like a child and be careful,” Jason said. That’s when Kael looked at me.Not with anger but with pain.“I noticed you tell him everything,” he said, voice raw. “But you never tell me.”I froze.Jason stepped forward. “That’s not true.”“No,” Kael cut in, eyes blazing. “She tells you ab
