Nathan’s P.O.V.
“A few popular brands reached us, requesting the prime store location in our mall. The renovation of that part is about to finish,” Chris told me while I continued inspecting the financial records for the quarter.
“The problem is two of them have a good relationship with your father, and one of them got a recommendation from your mother, Mr. Lombart. We only have two stores available for rent,” he continued but I stopped.
“So what?” I asked him bluntly and he blinked while looking at me dumbly. The managers standing behind him in a row immediately lowered their heads.
I tilted my head and looked at the youngest manager, who was standing right behind Chris.
“What’s our policy when it comes to allotting a store to anyone, Samuel?” I asked him coldly, but my voice was calm.
He trembled a little in fear, but I kept my gaze on him, waiting patiently for him to answer my question.
“No recommendation, no personal relationship.” He mumbled in a shaky voice.
I looked back at Chris, who lowered his eyes in embarrassment.
“There is nothing to feel ashamed of, Chris. You just asked my opinion. You know how to deal with them,” I said to Chris calmly, keeping his dignity in front of all those people.
I knew he only meant to inform me about them so that I could deal with my parents later.
“Yes, Mr. Lombart.” He answered me calmly, and I smiled faintly while moving my gaze back on the file in my hand.
For the next half an hour, we went through everything that I needed to see today.
Meanwhile, Chris did what he needed to do at the same time.
I looked at him questioningly when he suddenly cleared his throat.
“Ms. Winters is shopping on the third floor, Mr. Lombart.” He told me in a low voice and I knitted my brows in confusion.
Chris didn’t say anything but put a tablet in front of me.
I looked down and my brows immediately straightened up.
Without saying a word, I shot up on my feet and ran outside the office with Chris.
“For how long have they been arguing?” I asked him, hurriedly taking the tablet from his hand again.
I was pissed while watching Nancy yelling like a shrew.
Chris had muted the sound. That’s why I couldn’t listen to anything that was happening there, but from the way she was standing and throwing her hands from time to time, it was clear that she was pissed at something.
The other party, on the other hand, was standing calmly, showing the grace of a refined and educated lady.
“Ms. Winters has been in the mall for the past an hour, and Ms. Williams entered the mall half an hour ago. She didn’t roam in the mall and went directly to that store.” He replied to me, and my heart skipped a beat.
Was it really a coincidence?
“Who started the argument?” I asked him, my voice stern and cold. I walked straight to the personal elevator only meant for me.
“It… it was Ms. Winters. I guess she asked someone to keep eyes on your whereabouts and the people you met. Otherwise, I don’t see any reason for her to target Ms. Williams like this over a piece of cloth.” He replied and my jaw clenched.
Nancy took my warning lightly, I guess.
This woman needed to know her place now.
My gaze was now fixed on Cynthia, who was still staying calm, saying something in reply from time to time, but didn’t lose her composure.
I gave the tablet back to Chris when we reached that particular store.
Through the glass wall, I saw the store manager and two other employees trying to calm Nancy down but she was still yelling while jumping on her feet, pointing towards Cynthia.
Her face had twisted in a very ugly way by now.
“Ha… do you really think that I don’t know why you are here? Let me tell you, you s**t. I will never let you win.” I heard Nancy screaming at the top of her lungs as soon as Chris opened the door of the store for me.
Her scream startled both me and Chris and we looked at each other with a stunned expression before entering the store.
“Mr. Lombart.” The store manager who saw me first exclaimed in shock.
Nancy snapped her head towards me and her eyes widened in horror.
I threw a cold gaze towards her while walking towards Cynthia.
“Ms. Williams.” I greeted her in a stiff voice.
“Mr. Lombart. It’s really a surprise to meet you here.” She greeted back with a surprised expression on her face.
“This mall is under my company.” I told her and stopped beside her.
“Nathan…. She is faking this. She knew that you would be here and that’s why she came here.” Nancy yelled in panic, looking at me with desperation.
“What about you, Ms. Winters?” I asked her coldly. She stumbled a little, her eyes still widened to the maximum extent.
“You are one of the best artists under my company, and yet you are screaming like a shrew here.” I taunted her coldly, my hands thrust inside my pants pockets as I clenched my fists tightly, trying to stay calm when all I wanted was to drag Nancy away and give her a piece of my mind.
“Nathan.” She was about to retort when I cut her off in a stern voice.
“Ms. Winters. I don’t think that we are close enough to call each other by our first name.”
She trembled hard, looking at me in disbelief and shock.
The silence that hung among us was suffocating.
I looked at the salesgirlstanding a little behind Cynthia, completely drenched in sweat because of fear.
I looked at her name tag before addressing her in a calm voice.
“Winnie, I guess you are the one who was attending Ms. Williams, right?” I asked her and she immediately bobbed her head furiously.
“Explain what exactly happened?” I asked her, giving her a calm look to encourage her.
The poor girl was on the verge of fainting at any time.
“Ms. Williams chose an outfit for us and was about to ask me s…something wh… when Ms. W… inters suddenly approached us and snatched th… that outfit from Ms. Williams.” She told me while stammering a little in fear.
“You don’t need to fear anyone, Winnie, not in my presence. I can watch the surveillance at any time, but I want you to save me the hassle. So, speak freely. You and your job are safe,” I assured her when I saw tears in her eyes.
Cynthia’s P.O.V.“This is simply outrageous, Nathan. Just because Cynthia was present with me in that meeting, your ex-girlfriend tried to hurt her. Even if Cynthia doesn’t want to file a complaint against her, I will.” Mr. Silva yelled at me, completely pissed after he learned what exactly happened to me.I was now feeling better and was ready to go with Mr. Silva, but not before putting that damn arrogant woman in her place.“As you said, Mr. Silva, She is my ex-girlfriend. I ended everything with her seven years ago. She is an adult and is responsible for her own actions. I have already promised Ms. Williams that I will help her with providing evidence to her.” Mr. Lombart replied to Mr. Silva calmly.Mr. Silva just scoffed and looked at me.“Ready to go, Cynthia?” He asked me, and I nodded in response. The moment I saw those racks falling towards me, the sight of my accident h
Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)She gulped hard before looking back at me.“Ms. Williams entered our store first and was browsing when Ms. Winters entered. Everything was…. Was okay at first, but things started heating up when Ms. Winters demanded that Ms. Williams to give up on a dress that Ms. Williams was about to purchase. When…. When Ms. Williams politely declined, Ms. Winters started yelling at her, calling her names, an… and started accusing her f… for seducing me… men.”“It’s not like that, Nathan. She is lying.” Nancy shouted, but I sensed panic in her voice.I glared at her, making her cower immediately.I took a few deep breaths and looked at Cynthia, who still had a grim expression on her face.“Ms. Williams, I.” She raised her hand to stop me as her eyes were now glued on Nancy.“Ms. Winters. I don’t remember meeting y

Nancy’s P.O.V.“What did you say?” I asked Chris, shocked by what he replied to my request for a meeting with Nathan.“You heard me perfectly fine, Ms. Winters. You don’t have any direct business with Mr. Lombart. And all your professional matters are handled by your managers and assistant. So, if there is something that needs Mr. Lombart’s attention, ask your manager or assistant to request an appointment. Mr. Lombart doesn’t think that your direct involvement is necessary.”I knew that Nathan would refuse to meet me, but this bluntness from Chris was unexpected.I stomped my foot in a fit of rage and stormed away.In the past five years, I understood Chris very well. That man was immune to almost everything. The only person who can make him bend is Nathan. So, it was futile to argue with him. It would only escalate my blood pressure, nothing else.I walked onto the escala
Nathan’s P.O.V.“Ms. Cynthia William is from a moderate family, basically from Texas. She has an elder brother who is married and has kids. Ms. Williams graduated from Texas University, majoring in business administration and finance. She…. she never went out of the country.” Chris briefed the information that he got on Cynthia.I listened to him while reading. I frowned because her whole life was explained there, and there was no glitch that could support my belief that Cynthia Williams is my wife, Cynthia Lombart.“But seven years ago, she was in an accident and was in a coma for more than eight months,” he suddenly added, and my ears immediately perked up.“When?” I asked him hurriedly and skipped a few pages. He also came forward and took the file from me.He immediately reached that page and put the file back in front of me. All this time, my heart was now thudding hard in my chest in anticipation.I read the report with all my concentration, trying to find any glitch or loop tha
Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)I only took a few seconds to come back in the same stoic demeanour that I always had during a business conversation like this.“I appreciate that you trust me enough to give this opportunity to me to prove why you should agree to work with me, Mr. Silva.” I replied to him calmly, keeping that very faint smile on my lips.He smiled widely and gave me a curt nod before looking back at Cynthia again.Cynthia also smiled back at him, and then we proceeded with the main topic.I explained my terms on this acquisition briefly to him while trying to make him understand why he chose me instead of Lucas. He said that in a way both of us are alike.I didn’t want to dwell on this point, but I guess he also faced a situation like a face-off with Lucas I had been facing Still, I was glad that he chose me, or else I wouldn’t have found Cynthia sitting in front of me.To my dismay, she always had that professional expression on her face all the time when I conversed with
