Cynthia’s P.O.V.

“This is simply outrageous, Nathan. Just because Cynthia was present with me in that meeting, your ex-girlfriend tried to hurt her. Even if Cynthia doesn’t want to file a complaint against her, I will.” Mr. Silva yelled at me, completely pissed after he learned what exactly happened to me.

I was now feeling better and was ready to go with Mr. Silva, but not before putting that damn arrogant woman in her place.

“As you said, Mr. Silva, She is my ex-girlfriend. I ended everything with her seven years ago. She is an adult and is responsible for her own actions. I have already promised Ms. Williams that I will help her with providing evidence to her.” Mr. Lombart replied to Mr. Silva calmly.

Mr. Silva just scoffed and looked at me.

“Ready to go, Cynthia?” He asked me, and I nodded in response.

The moment I saw those racks falling towards me, the sight of my accident hit the back of my mind, and I couldn’t move a bit.

I was grateful to Mr. Lombart for helping me immediately and arranged a doctor for me.

“I have already called the police chief here so that Ms. Williams doesn’t need to go to the police station.” Mr. Lombart added further, and I raised my brows in surprise.

This was cruel to his ex-girlfriend, but I did nothing wrong to face her nonsense.

Mr. Silva looked at me this time.

“Let’s wait for him then, Mr. Silva. It will save us a hassle,” I suggested, and he nodded in response.

Someone knocked on the door and Chris entered the room with a server. The server had a tray in her hands with some refreshments.

“Ms. Williams took medicines on an empty stomach. So, I brought something for her to eat.” Chris explained politely.

“Thanks, Chris.” I thanked him with gratitude.

He passed a tight smile while the server put the tray in front of me on the center table.

“Did you get everything that Ms. Williams needs?” Mr. Lombart asked Chris while the server prepared coffee for us.

“Yes, Mr. Lombart.” He replied and put a USB on the center table.

“I have copied everything in this USB and also have mailed everything to Ms. Williams.” Chris added and I nodded in response before taking the sandwich from the tray.

“I am still very confused, Mr. Lombart.” I spoke to him out of curiosity; the sandwich was still in my hands.

He looked at me calmly, but there was something else in his gaze.

As if he was trying to see something in me.

As if he was trying to trace something into me.

But it was just for a fleeting second, and it vanished as if it were just my illusion.

“Why did she target me? I never met her, but the way she continued yelling at me and calling me names, I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that it was related to you.” I asked him while explaining my doubts.

His jaw clenched and I took a bite of the sandwich, my eyes still locked on him.

“My wife’s name is Cynthia Lombart, Ms. William,” he replied to me and I narrowed my eyes in confusion.

“What does it have to do with Cynthia? There are so many people around the world with common names.” Mr. Silva asked him, still angry by what happened earlier.

“You are right, Mr. Silva, but Ms. Williams also has very similar eyes, face cut, and body structure as my wife. Nancy has been trying to get back in my life for …. For quite a few good years, but.” He paused and looked at me with a knowing look.

I almost choked on the food in my mouth, widening my eyes in shock.

“So…. She… she thought that I am your wife Cynthia who has come back into your life?” I blurted out in shock before I could even register what I was saying.

His expression hardened again, and I just blinked dumbfounded because of my bluntness.

“That…. That’s insane. Where is your wife?” Mr. Silva asked in a loud voice, voicing out the question that had risen in my heart too.

Mr. Lombart didn’t answer him immediately and looked the other way as if he was avoiding answering this question.

Suddenly I remembered something that I had heard about Mr. Lombart and his wife. My breath hitched and looked at Mr. Silva.

The look on his face was enough to say that he also remembered the same thing because he was the one who told me about that.

“I am sorry, Nathan. I didn’t mean to tear your wound.” He apologized in a very low voice, filled with guilt.

“It… it’s okay, Mr. Silva.” Mr. Lombart replied in a low voice, but the hollowness in his voice made me feel a sharp pang of pain in my chest.

I didn’t know why, but I wanted to go to him and embrace him.

I wanted to comfort him and tell him that everything was okay.

“Did you ever consider going back with Nancy?” Mr. Silva asked him and I resumed eating my sandwich. I sipped the coffee and frowned immediately.

“What’s wrong, Ms. Williams?” Chris asked me anxiously.

“Uhhh…. Can I have some sugar?” I asked him when I didn’t see sugar in the tray.

“You like your coffee with sugar?” Chris asked me in surprise, confusing me with his reaction.

“Ummm… yes. You can say that I have a sweet tooth. I mostly don’t like coffee, but if I have to, I like to have it with sugar and cream.” I smiled sheepishly in the end when I realized that I was talking too much.

I blinked harder while looking among them.

Mr. Silva looked annoyed but both Chris and Mr. Lombart were shocked.

“Did I say something wrong?” I asked them in a very low voice.

"It.... it's okay if there is no sugar." I said it while shrinking my shoulders anxiously when their expression didn't change for a good few seconds.

Mr. Lombart was about to say something when we heard a knock on the door.

Nathan’s P.O.V.She had a different demeanor than my wife but her likes and dislikes were very similar to Cynthia's. I watched the surveillance footage of her browsing the clothes in that store so many times that I could even memorize all her moves there. She mostly took the clothes in bright colors. My wife also loved bright colors, but she changed so many of her likings for me.I usually like light colors, and that’s why my wife always had her clothes in light colors. Both of them like their coffee with sugar and cream. They don’t like coffee, but orange juice instead.Whenever she had her back towards the camera, my heart skipped beats in a row.I felt like I was watching my wife and to be honest, I wanted to stay in that delusion forever.Until I find my wife back.I felt knots twisting in my gut while thinking about how similar Cynthia Williams was to my wife. The only difference was their face and their demeanor. My wife was soft-hearted and never held grudges.Cynthia Williams

Nathan’s P.O.V.“A few popular brands reached us, requesting the prime store location in our mall. The renovation of that part is about to finish,” Chris told me while I continued inspecting the financial records for the quarter.“The problem is two of them have a good relationship with your father, and one of them got a recommendation from your mother, Mr. Lombart. We only have two stores available for rent,” he continued but I stopped.“So what?” I asked him bluntly and he blinked while looking at me dumbly. The managers standing behind him in a row immediately lowered their heads.I tilted my head and looked at the youngest manager, who was standing right behind Chris.“What’s our policy when it comes to allotting a store to anyone, Samuel?” I asked him coldly, but my voice was calm.He trembled a little in fear, but I kept my gaze on him, waiting patiently for him

Nancy’s P.O.V.“What did you say?” I asked Chris, shocked by what he replied to my request for a meeting with Nathan.“You heard me perfectly fine, Ms. Winters. You don’t have any direct business with Mr. Lombart. And all your professional matters are handled by your managers and assistant. So, if there is something that needs Mr. Lombart’s attention, ask your manager or assistant to request an appointment. Mr. Lombart doesn’t think that your direct involvement is necessary.”I knew that Nathan would refuse to meet me, but this bluntness from Chris was unexpected.I stomped my foot in a fit of rage and stormed away.In the past five years, I understood Chris very well. That man was immune to almost everything. The only person who can make him bend is Nathan. So, it was futile to argue with him. It would only escalate my blood pressure, nothing else.I walked onto the escala

Nathan’s P.O.V.“Ms. Cynthia William is from a moderate family, basically from Texas. She has an elder brother who is married and has kids. Ms. Williams graduated from Texas University, majoring in business administration and finance. She…. she never went out of the country.” Chris briefed the information that he got on Cynthia.I listened to him while reading. I frowned because her whole life was explained there, and there was no glitch that could support my belief that Cynthia Williams is my wife, Cynthia Lombart.“But seven years ago, she was in an accident and was in a coma for more than eight months,” he suddenly added, and my ears immediately perked up.“When?” I asked him hurriedly and skipped a few pages. He also came forward and took the file from me.He immediately reached that page and put the file back in front of me. All this time, my heart was now thudding hard in my chest in anticipation.I read the report with all my concentration, trying to find any glitch or loop tha
