With every voice that urged me to just take a little peek out the door—the bite, the throbbing headache all stood as a reminder of all I had endured in less than twenty-four hours.

I pulled the heavy sheets above my head, hoping to drown out the noise, and get some rest, but images of humans being chased around by a bunch of blood sucking creatures filled my mind.

With every voice that urged me to just take a little peek out the door—the bite, the throbbing headache all stood as a reminder of all I had endured in less than twenty-four hours.I pulled the heavy sheets above my head, hoping to drown out the noise, and get some rest, but images of humans being chased around by a bunch of blood sucking creatures filled my mind.Slowly, the sound died down till the night settled into an eerie silence. It was then my eyelids became droopy, till it closed shut.*****The sounds of waves crashing against the castle's base were all shattered by the rapid knocking against the mahogany door.My eyelids flew open, heart pounding against my chest before memories of last night all came crashing down.I sat up, swinging my legs over the side of the bed, then muttered a weak “Come in.”Pushing the door open, a short, plump woman popped her head through the crack in the door, then granted herself access into the room. Her black hair held streaks of silver, yet

~Blythe Gibson~I looked up at him, stunned. My mouth hung open to speak, but no words came out.“Feeder?” the man asked in disbelief, while inching away from me. “Y-your highness. There wasn’t a mark. I didn’t know she was–”“Well, now, you know.” Ronan cut him off, looking down at him with a cold stare. He turned to the guards, his authority compelling them forward.“And which one of you put her in chains?” he inquired, looking between the two.“It was I.” The taller guard admitted.Ronan’s face contorted into that of rage, his eyebrows pulled together and fist clenched before speaking up.“Release her this instant.”The culprit pulled out a key from his pocket, and unlocked the padlock that bound my arms and legs. The metal chains clattered to the ground with a loud thud, giving me the chance to access my wrists which were now bruised by the heavy chains.I rubbed it to soothe the ache, while looking up at Ronan with fear and gratitude. After all, I had found myself in a den of li

~Ronan Canavaro~I sat at the council high table with my fingers brushing against the spot where this human had just slapped. It was the first time in centuries since anyone, let alone, a lowly human dared to raise an arm against me.“So, the girl possesses the rare blood we seek, you say.” Elder Meredith drawled out, snapping me out of my thoughts. The rhythmic tapping of my fingernails against the mahogany heightened the tension as all eyes from the round table stayed fixated on me. I looked up, expression hard as I leaned forward.I cleared his throat, then spoke up. “Her memories could not be erased. Her mind could not be controlled. That’s nowhere near possible for a mere human.”“And you’re certain that your powers weren’t weakened at that point?” Elder Darius chimed in as the corners of his lips lifted, but only for a brief moment.“You know damn well that this has nothing to do with my powers.” I seethed, slapping my palm against the table. “Corvin witnessed the whole thing!”

No Signal.I had no means to communicate with the outside world. And now, the screen went black after minutes of trying to seek help. A groan escaped my lips as I pulled myself out of the small space in the wardrobe and onto my feet.I crossed the room, latching my palm onto the door knob, but it took three tries to pry the door open before I realised that I was locked in."Shit!" I cursed, stomping my foot against the wooden floorboards. My eyes drifted over to the window which had the moonlight still peering from it, and in an instant, I found myself in front of the window with my fingers wrapped around the ledge, while peeking down from above. My eyes struggled to adjust to see beyond the thick fog formed below, that was until, a bold thought popped in my head. One that sent sirens blaring.I lifted my foot, placing it on the creaky window ledge, while steadying myself by gripping the two sides of the wall. But then, something flickered behind my eyes sending a sharp pain to the

There weren't cars honking from below. That's when I knew something was wrong. I was engulfed by silence that should have felt peaceful but it wasn't. The freezing temperature didn't help matters. My run down apartment was never this cold in the summer, neither was it ever this quiet. On a regular day, the paper thin walls filtered in the sound of the daily 2:00 a.m parties, car honking from the streets that never seemed to sleep or the neighbors arguing next door. The worst part? It was the scent that swamped my nostrils. It wasn't a bad kind of scent... Just expensive. It smelled like fabric softener that was worth a whole week's worth of groceries. Finally, I had the courage to peel open my eyes. I was expecting some kind of blinding light, but instead, a gasolier hung from the ceiling.I sat up slowly, but the throbbing ache at the side of my head made it hard to concentrate. The room was large. It felt much larger than it needed to be, as it only contained a bed, a vintage van

Three events made me wish I had never picked up an extra shift that night.One.“Is this some sort of freaking joke?!” Mr. Dawson's fists slammed onto the table, grabbing the attention of customers around.“I specifically asked for the scallops to be replaced with salmon. I paid extra for these. Can't a man get his money's worth?!” My eyes went to the almost empty plate of oyster and scallop tartare, the fifth mistress he had brought in this week, then back to the bloodshot eyes of the older man fuming at his seat. It was obvious that such a high-end client wasn't doing this to get a free meal—heck no, he could buy the entire chain of restaurants if he wanted to.It was for attention and power.“I sincerely apologise, Mr Dawson.” I replied, putting my hand on the shoulder of the trembling chef that was close to having his career shut down. “The head chef isn't available at the moment, so we’re a bit short staffed tonight. We'll get your order ready. It's on the house.”My voice carr
