CHAPTER 04 - AN EVIL DEMON

A lady's voice echoed in the street, gaining everyone's attention. 

"Please, accept my proposal. I love you, Shawn."

The guy seemed to get rid of the lady as he shouted. "STAY AWAY FROM ME. I TOLD YOU ALREADY I'M NOT INTERESTED IN YOU."

Despite his harsh words, the lady didn't move back. In fact, she tried to come closer, which forced him to push her.

"AGH!"

But before she could fall, Selena caught her hands. Being concerned, she asked. "Ma'am, are you okay?"

Seeing someone's sympathy for her, the lady shed crocodile tears. "The guy slept with me and promised to marry me. But now, he is refusing."

Her mellow drama was too much for Shawn as he rolled his eyes and started walking away when someone shouted at him.

"DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GO SO EASILY?"

Annoyed, he turned around only to meet Selena's burning eyes.

"Who are you?"

Selena clenched her fist and moved further. "That's not your concern. But you can't humiliate a woman like this. Don't ever think I'm going to be silent like others."

Taking off his sunglasses, he sarcastically laughed. "Humiliation? Good."

He took some steps closer and leaned closer to her face. "Miss, you should not believe in other's words so soon. Besides, this matter doesn't concern you either."

Their eyes were playing a boxing match as no one was daring to move back. 

"I believe in what I saw. You pushed her harshly."

"So? You don't have to be a hero everywhere. Keep your daring side to yourself."

Rolling his eyes, he moved away when Selena clenched her jaw and quickly took a can of juice from a nearby handcart.

"MISTER!"

As he turned around, Selena threw the liquid at him, ruining his expensive coat. 

"Whenever you think of pushing a woman, remember this moment. Demons like you don't deserve to be loved."

Throwing the can, Selena rolled her eyes and walked away while striking on his shoulder.

Just then, her scent made him realize. The same Vanilla scent that was stuck in his mind again appeared in front of him. But this time, he could see how attractive and powerful this scent was.

His lips curved into a shocking smirk. He couldn't believe the thunderstorm was the same honey he once tasted.

He surely ruined her mood, but she was trying her best to stay calm.

Tapping on her cheeks, she took a deep breath. "Come on, Selena. You can do it."

Biting her lower lip, she finally stepped inside the office. It was more likely a five-star hotel. Its perfect design and clean environment impressed her.

Her eyes were not ready to take their gaze off. As she moved in, her eyes saw the most beautiful place and clean ever. She clearly fell in love with the office building.

Leading towards the elevator, she stepped in when her gaze fell on a guy standing beside her. 

Assuming him as a co-worker, she greeted him. "Hello there, I'm Selena. I'm a new worker here. Nice to meet you. What position are you in?"

Hearing her, he chuckled while extending his hand for a handshake. 

"Nice to meet you too, Selena. Hmm, but I have to disappoint you because I'm not a worker here. I'm Chris Hendricks, the CEO of Hendricks cooperation and Celine entertainment."

Upon listening to him, her jaw dropped as she was always a fan of Celine entertainment. Placing a hand on her mouth, she gasped.

"Celine? OMG! I'm a loyal fan of Celine. I watched every movie produced by that company."

Noticing his hand, she soon extended her hand and did a handshake.

"Thank you for always loving Celine, Selena. I'm grateful for your support."

"Celine was the only company back then who believed in true inspiring stories. Like Wonder Wings of Kate, Magical euphoria, etc. They all were so well directed and produced."

"Really? What do you like about Wonder Wings of Kate? It was my first-ever project. Though people disliked my work, what makes you love it? Even, I started hating it."

Widening her eyes, she scoffed. "How can someone hate such a great movie? I like how Wonder Wings showed the struggle of women. The way she tried to fight back for her kids, supported them, protected them. Isn't it too heart-touching? How can people hate it?"

Noticing her upset pout, Chris giggled. "Selena, I'm blessed to take this lift today. I found the best person who appreciates the meaning behind the story more than star lines. If I'm lucky enough, I would like to meet you again."

As they smiled at each other, the door of the lift wide opened, and they came out.

"Thank you for making my day, Selena. Best of luck to you. The boss here is not too kind like me."

A laugh escaped her lips as he laughed along with her.

"See you soon, Selena." 

Waving his hand, he walked away when a smile reached her eyes. "I'm lucky today, I guess."

Keeping her cheerful smile, she walked towards the main entrance and saw a lady.

"Hello, Miss? Can you help me find the CEO room?"

Without even glancing at her, she pointed her finger right away. 

"Follow this way and take the left turn. You'll see a signboard on top of the CEO cabin."

"Okay. Thank you, miss."

Pissed off her cold nature, Selena turned back and quietly followed her given directions.

"What rude staff does this company have?" she thought.

Walking, she finally noticed the sign. While taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door. 

A voice came from inside, she didn't bother and went inside straight away.

"Good morning, Sir. I'm the one who got accepted as your new assistant."

All she could hear was his laugh that made her puzzled. But soon, when he turned around, her face was no longer cheerful. It turned pale as if someone saw a ghost.

"Welcome to the Vaughan group, Miss Selena."
