CHAPTER 06 - LOVE AT THE FIRST SIGHT

With every step, Selena was holding her breath as if her death was near. The glow on Misty's face was clearly a warning of the storm. But there was another kind of storm in Selena's heart. 

Her heart skipped a beat when Shawn glanced at him. His pissed face sent shivers down her spine. 

Arching one eyebrow, Misty pulled Shawn's arm and pointed her finger at Selena. "Brother, fire her. I don't want to see her anymore."

Selena's breath choked in the air as her eyes widened, and her gaze shifted to Shawn with a begging look plastered on her face. Her fingers crossed automatically, hoping he might reconsider her.

When Shawn's gaze fell on her, he started laughing at the sight of her frightened expression.

"You literally think I'm gonna fire you, Silly?" He thought when Misty again pulled his arm. "Brother, are you firing her or not?"

Coming out of his thoughts, he cleared his throat and said. "Well, I can't fire everyone. Her skills are amazing, which I need in my employees."

Upon hearing his statement, Misty's eyes crinkled. She stared back at him with a surprising look. "Brother?"

"Misty, hear me out. If she did anything wrong, I'll fire her, okay? But let me live peacefully for a few months."

Cutting their conversation off, he took out his phone and made an excuse. "I have some work to do. I'm leaving then."

He glanced at Selena for the last time and left the place. While everyone in the room was shocked to see such a historical moment.

"Oho! It looks like our boss no longer cares for his cousin. Too pitiful for you, Misty." A lady commented in her mocking voice as Misty glared at everyone and stormed out of the office.

With her brows raised, Selena scoffed. "She still has the confidence to carry such an attitude." 

"She must be burnt till her roots. Look, how her face was when the boss didn't take her side." Upon her comments, everyone there laughed aloud when someone stroked Selena's shoulder and teased her. "Maybe, our boss cares for the new assistant more than his cousin."

"AWW!!" Everyone roared in a teasing tone, making her flustered out of nowhere.

"What are you guys talking about? It's not like that."

Everyone said by pointing their fingers at her red glowing face. "It is! Our boss must have a crush on you, Selena. Or else he fired you already." 

"So, everyone should treat her like our future boss's wife."

"Hey! Hey! Cut your craps here! I have work to do." Selena left the place as she felt uneasy there.

In today's pleasant weather, Chris was going out to meet his client. His driver was driving the car while he sat in the backseat, smiling at his phone.

His manager noticed and asked in a mocking tone. "Boss, are you talking with your girlfriend?"

"What are you even saying? I don't have any time for a girlfriend. It's Shawn telling me his dramatic story."

"Shawn Vaughan?"

"Hmm! He might use all his brain cells to make a decision today."

They were busy talking with each other when suddenly the driver pulled the breaks, and there was a stir in the car. Everything turned upside down, but hopefully, nothing much happened.

Catching his gasp, Chris asked. "What's wrong? Why did you pull the breaks?"

"Boss, the car seems broken. I think we have to repair it."

"HUH!"

Half an hour had passed, but still, the car won't be repaired yet. He kept glancing at his wristwatch as the time slowly slipped away from him.

Grinding his teeth, he came out of the car and slammed the door.

"How long will it take?" 

"Boss, one more hour."

"Can't you repair it fast?"

Seeing a growing tension, his manager opened a water bottle and passed it to him. "Boss, here."

He took the bottle from his hands and gulped all the water in just one go.

"Boss, how about you wait in the nearby bakery shop? It'll be more comfortable for you there."

"Okay then! Call me once the car is repaired."

"Noted!"

With her back against the chair's head, she sighed exhaustedly. Her one elbow rested upon the glass counter, supporting her while one was holding the phone near her ear.

Camila: Huh~ Nowadays, no one comes to the bakery. I don't know how I will run this bakery shop?

On the other hand, working on some files, Selena responded.

Selena: It's all fine. There are always ups and downs in life. Keep yourself relaxed. Maybe God will send a customer soon.

Camila: I'm waiting for your words to come true.

Raising her gaze, she glanced at the entrance gate when the doorbell started ringing in the distance.

A man figured walked inside, followed by his long legs. His muscular arms were covered behind the blue sleeves of his coat.

His shiny black hair was moving as the winds caressed them back.

With a tiny smile on his soft-pink lips, he approached Camila, who was busy staring at her charming prince.

"Miss?"

Her eyes were fixed on his glowing-handsome face as she felt like heaven out of nowhere.

Her pinched lips softly curved into a grin while staring at him.

Noticing her flirty stares like that, Chris felt a bit awkward. With his fist closer to his mouth, he cleared his throat as she came to her senses and welcomed him. "Oh-uh! Welcome, Sir. May I know your order?"

"One cappuccino, please. Also, is there any Wi-Fi network available?"

"Yes, Sir. The password is..." She leaned closer on the counter while her eyes settled on him. "I love you!"

For a moment, he felt aback as his eyes automatically blinked, confused about her words. "Huh?"

Seeing him panicking, Camila leaned back and started laughing. "I mean to say the password is I love you, Sir." She took out the Wi-Fi card and showed him. "I'm not lying!"

"Uh! Okay, thanks a lot."

Selena jumped with joy listening to their conversation. There was another kind of excitement running along with her blood. She didn't even notice a figure coming towards her. As a result, her tiny, fragile figure bumped on a muscular chest, making them fall back on the floor.

"UGH!" The sound echoed in the room. Not too long, the staff surrounded the room and peeked inside only to see their boss lying on the floor with his new assistant on him.
