FAZER LOGINDanny's POV Chad occasionally glanced over at me, his dark eyes heavy with concern, but every time our gazes nearly met, I quickly looked away toward the tinted window. I couldn't help it. The man sitting beside me in this leather seat was my husband. The man who kissed my forehead every single morning, who gently rubbed my belly with oil when the babies kicked too hard, and who held me tight against his broad chest when nightmares woke me up crying in the middle of the night. He was also the man who had stood in that yellow-lit room and watched a woman be buried alive in concrete without so much as blinking an eye. I knew Chad was the Godfather. I knew what his dark mafia world was like. But knowing something in your head and physically witnessing it with your own two eyes were two entirely different things. "I thought you wanted them dead too," Chad finally broke the heavy silence, his deep voice low. "I did," I answered quietly. "Then what's wrong?" I stared out t
Danny’s POV I was scared. I wanted to leave. I wanted to get out of that basement right now, away from the cold, damp concrete walls, the heavy metallic smell hanging in the air, and the horrifying sight of human beings being punished in ways I had never imagined in my worst nightmares. "I'm feeling irritated," I mumbled, my voice trembling as I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. "I want to leave." Granny immediately reached out, her aged fingers wrapping around my hand with a grip surprisingly firm for her fragile frame. "No, puppy," she said smoothly, her dark eyes unblinking. "You have to watch." I turned my head to Chad, expecting him to step in, expecting him to put his arm around me and tell her that I had seen enough, that his pregnant Omega was going back upstairs. For the first time, however, my husband didn't take my side. "Listen to mother, Danny," he said calmly, his deep voice completely unbothered by Xuyi's muffled screams echoing inside the drum. "You wan
Danny’s POVA week after flying back from China, the estate had settled into a quiet, heavily guarded routine. But inside our bedroom, my mind was a chaotic mess.I stood in front of the full-length mirror, turning to the side as I stared down at my reflection. My belly had visibly popped over the last seven days, round and prominent beneath my shirt. My hips had broadened to accommodate the pregnancy, and my face looked softer, rounder."I look fat," I grumbled under my breath, poking at my waist with a deep, dramatic frown. "I literally look like a balloon."From behind me, two broad arms slid wrapped around my waist, warm and comforting as Chad pulled my back against his chest. He pressed a soft kiss to the crook of my neck, his dark eyes meeting mine in the mirror."Still going to wear a crop top with that bump, love?" he teased softly, his lips twitching into a smug grin.I turned around in his grip, frowning up at him as I beat his chest with my palm. "This is entirely your fa
Danny's POV He frowned deeply, letting out a sharp groan, and my heart lurched right up into my throat. "What's wrong?! Does your chest hurt?! Should I call Dr. Greene?!" I scrambled closer on my knees, my hands frantically reaching for his shoulder. "Chad, please, don't do this! You just woke up! What if something is wrong with your heart?!" Then I heard it. A quiet, rumbling laugh coming from the very man who had just nearly stopped my heart. I stared at him. He was grinning at me, a full breathtaking, smug grin. "You!" I gasped, my jaw dropping. "You were joking?!" Chad’s grin widened. "I missed you." I gaped at him as though he'd just announced that the earth was flat. "You missed me?!" "Very much." "YOU WERE IN A LITERALLY COMA!" "I know." "You couldn't even open your eyes!" "I was aware of that, too." I stared at him, utterly speechless. "Then how could you miss me when you weren't even conscious enough to know I existed in this world?!" His playful smile softe
Danny's POV "We lost one of the babies." His hand in my hair stopped moving. I stared blankly at the hospital gown covering his chest, suddenly finding it impossibly difficult to look up at his face. "They said the other three are fine. They're still alive, and they're doing well, but..." My voice cracked, tears burning the back of my throat. "There were supposed to be four, Chad." His arm tightened around me, holding me flush against him. "I am sorry, Danny." I swallowed painfully, a tear slipping down my cheek and soaking into his gown. "I keep thinking about it. I keep remembering the scan and hearing all four of those heartbeats. I was so shocked when we discovered there were four of them, and now..." I couldn't even finish the sentence. Chad gently stroked my hair, his lips pressing firmly into the crown of my head. "I am so sorry, love." He repeated the words softly, over and over, pressing gentle kisses to my hair between apologies. I knew he couldn't magically bring
Danny’s POV The doctors rushed into the room almost immediately after I unlocked the door. Within seconds, they had surrounded Chad's bed, checking his vitals, examining his wounds, and adjusting the monitoring machines beside him. I stood awkwardly near the foot of the bed, watching them with my heart still hammering against my ribs. He was awake. My husband was finally awake. And yet, for some reason, I still couldn't stop worrying that I would blink and discover that this had all been another cruel, agonizing dream or someone would just pop out and shoot us again. "His vitals are stabilizing," Dr. Greene announced after a few tense minutes. He let out a long breath, looking genuinely relieved as he checked the monitors. "Considering the amount of blood he lost and the severity of his injuries, this is nothing short of a miracle." "Well, I'm glad the universe is still on our side," Chad remarked weakly, his raspy voice laced with that familiar, arrogant charm. Dr. G
